I just finished making Lord of the Nazgûl too! Though I mostly used cards from the set for thematic reasons. Honestly, even when built at a casual level, a commander that rewards you for playing in its colors with meaty 3/3s and a possible win con coded into its text is going to be pretty strong. Don’t feel too bad about it. You could always trade some counterspells for bounce spells if you think powering the deck down is necessary for a better time for everyone. Also, cyclonic rift is more or less a functioning game ender; saying it should be banned is like saying Garruk’s wake should be banned. You’re trying to finish the game, so a board wipe that leaves your stuff in tact is a valid way to do it. That’s my own opinion, anyway. Sorry for the long comment. Great game! ❤
Completely agree. Can’t help but think people wanting it banned are either salty or just regurgitating talking points they’ve heard. Doesn’t feel good to lose to it but I can name 10s of other cards that don’t too.
Hard, HARD disagree on the Cyclonic Rift opinion. The differences between Rift and IG'sW are stark. It's 9 mana, a sorcery, doesn't deal with artifacts and enchantments, and gets countered by mass indestructible. Obviously that's just one example but I don't think those cards are even in the same ballpark, let alone comparable. Also, saying Rift is "more or less a game ender" is a bit reductive. In my experience, more often than not Rift gets used as an instant speed response to being swung at for lethal. In that case, it just resets the game and makes the whole experience a lot longer and more boring as the other three players try to recover and beat up on the Rift player who is now way far ahead. The point is, Rift is too efficient, too versitile, and too un-fun. I'm not advocating for it to be banned, but I am advocating for people to stop playing the stupid thing. My playgroup has soft banned the card at our table, and we all agree it's made our meta much more enjoyable. Feel free to disagree, this is just my opinion.

Yeah I think I wrote somewhere else that you should read the room and not ruin a fun game when you’re not going to Rift into a victory. But it’s the same with easy combo wins. There could be an interesting game occurring that’ll be a fun story to tell for years to come, but those times to tend to happen if someone Rifted and ruin everyone’s fun. If it’s Rift into a win, I’m fine with it. Feels bad to go up against players just buying time with it but that’s the game. I just shrug my shoulders and carry on.

Nice game and deck! I can't believe there were 3 white and or green decks and no one had any artifact/enchantment or creature removal (especially the white decks). When I play casual, not necessarily commander, and there are multiple white decks being played at the table, your enchantments and artifacts are lucky to be out a full turn. Also, board wipes usually abound by wrath of god.
I am in the process of building this in paper! Super excited to finish it up after watching your video. I do have the 9 Nazgul in it though (I am going to wait until the price goes down to buy the ones I don't have).
Cyc rift is one of those cards thats probably just too good. Being instant speed means that decks not playing counterspells are at a huge disadvantage. Lots of decks just have no possible way to interact with it. It's an auto include in literally every blue deck since its modal, doesn't have intensive pip requirements, and just does so much. Probably not ban worthy, but I wish people would take a second to think if they're including it because its just good or if it matches the theme of the deck. There's a lot of zzz stuff in commander, but cyc has to be one of the worst offenders. No one goes "ohhh what a play" when someone plays it, its always "uhh sorry guys uhhh im gonna rift :/" followed by sighs and groans. It's not even as good as a combo because thats at least multiple cards, is (sometimes) interesting when its a lesser known one, and we can all immediately go to the next game instead of watching the blue player do a few showboating turns.
I think the wraiths debuffed at the end because the 9/9 only lasts until end of turn (at which point you'd have to refresh it with a new instant/sorcery). Not that that would be hard, this commander just keeps refreshing its hand.
No Nazgul in a Lord of the Nazgul deck? Sadness.😢 (The 9/9 buff goes away at the end of the turn, so you need to bring in another Wraith on your turn to get the buff back.)

No need to feel ashamed bro. I have died to so much Green/red shenanigans Dimir would be unplayable without the control power it has. Limited options to buff your creatures, little direct damage, you can make a wide board but nothing compared to white, green, and red. So dimir’s only defense is control.
Complained? When did I complain? I gave my general thoughts on a card. Dark Ritual is a card I hardly run too but it triggers the commander so it pulls double duty. I do wonder which audio some of you are listening to sometimes.

The lotas nets you an additional mana because you have to pay one for dark
1 mana to 0 mana is a big difference, as well as having no color identity, it becomes much more unhealthy for the game
