Yes MFT is the best system for streets. G9ii user here. Never looked back. ( I d like to see a GX9 successor soon BUT full weather sealed. This would be the absolute best of a street camera.

I find the Pana Leica 15mm also adds some nice colour / contrast to the GX9 images. The GX9 monochrome modes are also great.

100% agree on if Panasonic brings out a new GX9 or GX series camera in general that it'd be something I'd buy. I'm pretty solidly a Fuji guy now, but previously was a GH3 and GF2 shooter. If Panasonic gets back to featuring their smaller body cameras I'd definitely pick up a new body, and a set of Leica primes (and maybe that 20mm f/1.7) I might not drop my X-T5 but it might be my smaller go to camera for EDC and travel.

I have a gx85 and i love that thing. Ergonomics, button layout are really good. It have some weight to it which we won't expect on just seeing it. Its tiny. I can bring it everwhere with me all day without ever being a burden. I switched it with my friends sony fullframe oneday on a trio together. It was a burden. Couldn't stand it pulling on your sholders with straps and waving around as walked. Got back my little lumix back and it was a pleasure. Even if u run around with it, with right lenses, it stays close to the body. Major downside is this one isn't weather sealed. An EDC camera should be weather sealed. Am from kerala, india and its the rainy monsoon season here. My coastal area will be filled with dramatic scenes and i can only dream of getting this one out there. Even with an umbrella and all, it was a nightmare to shoot with it, stressing about it getting wet in the rain and wind.
Lumix should get that gx10 and lx100iii out there. With that real lut lut and maybe nd filters(at least a digital one on the gx like in olympus bodies and the real thing in lx), it will be soo much fun to shoot with those.

Color is also a matter of personal preference. As a die-hard raw photographer, I edit almost every shot. Photograph with Nikon full frame, Olympus OM and Lumix G9. Each camera produces different tonality. I prefer to determine the end result myself, more work, but the way I like to see it. It's just a choice, my choice. The Fuji X100 S, which I also used, has been sold. I didn't like the autofocus. I can reproduce the color scheme in post-processing.

The Sony A7c is a good contender for those folks frustrated with the lack of confidence from Panasonic or OM continuing "rangfinder" style bodies. Cheers

The GX9 is a great little camera, no doubt. I’m surprised you haven’t given the LX100 II a try since it has the same sensor as the GX9 and a fast Leica lens as well. Great for the street!

Agreed Grant, From what I've seen online from Fujifilm X100s and Ricoh GRs I prefer the Lumix-Leica colors. Some of the Panasonic cameras seem have more pop than others like the G9, LX100s, GH2/GH3 and from what I'm seeing online the S1/S5 lines too. I use Fujifilm X100 thumb grip on the LX100, big improvement

I have the same setup, now I'm sort of over not having an EVF I'm starting to think I will sell my Fujifilm X-E4, but I'm keeping the Fujifilm X-M1 + 27mm :)

      @MrRafalEn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@DavidMBanes I am gathering funds to buy S9 + 45 f2.8 and also will see if I sell my X-E4 after that. How do you like colors from Panasonic compared to Fuji ? By the way there is a successor of X-M1 coming in the second half of 2024 - Fuji X-M5 :) That as well might be more interesting than X-E4 but lets wait and see.

    • @DavidMBanes

@@MrRafalEn Three weeks on I think the Panasonic colours are OK and with the LUT feature you can rival Fujifilm. However my thinking has now changed, I'm selling the S9 and Sigma lenses and keeping the X-E4.
The S9's photography experience is poor. No EVF I've managed OK but prefer one, the lack of a nice mechanical shutter click is annoying and the weight of the S9 even with the small Sigma lenses is still too much for even just 2-3 hours walking around one handed; you’d need a neck strap
As for video, the IBIS is only marginally better than my iPhone, whose screen is bigger than the S9 so I’m going back to the iPhone for video for now and looking at the DJI Osmo. The social media platforms downscale our photos and video anyway so what's the point of shooting higher res?
With all of the above and the lack of an ecosystem of small, cheaper lenses make the S9 the wrong camera for me. (I do street and car club content). I can see that anyone already using Panasonic/Leica full frame and owning a selection of lenses already would see the value in the S9's size and less weight.
I do think Panasonic have got this wrong if they are marketing to content creators. Coming 'up' from a smart phone I'd expect a screen of similar size, significantly better IBIS and if I'm paying this sort of money I do want some more photography features, an EVF being one. The S9 maybe technically brilliant but it's lacking the 'feel/emotion' we get from Fujifilm cameras and that experience of being a photographer.
For Apple users there's also the issue that Apple Photo's and Darkroom (Lightroom alternative) do not support the S9's RAW files... so my workflow is broken; yes I am synching with the Lumix app but the myth that you can post all content directory is just that, the app sometimes refused to post content and tells you to do it with the relevant social media app.
The S9 is still on my desk but I keep picking up the X-E4. I’m now looking at the Fujifilm X-T50 as a replacement for the X-E4, it's taller but has IBIS and looks to be a re-bodied X100 IV, or I'll wait and see what the X-M5 is but I suspect as with the M1 it won’t have a viewfinder otherwise they’d call it the X-E5; just guessing.

I didn't bought it. I still have the GX85 as small camera. The GX9 is better but the difference was not enough for me.
I would have considered the GX9 if it had at least 4k30p from the full sensor.
Today, I'm hoping also for PDAF and a better stabilization. A new sensor might have a fast enough readout so it can go without mechanical shutter. I would like it also a bit lighter. For me, the GX85 is a bit heavy for the size.

Whilst we would all welcome a new GX9ii or similar street camera this TH-cam video analysis highlighted some interesting views from an electronics engineer / designer about the realities of producing cameras for low volume market segments. Not saying I agree with all of it but it is interesting to reflect on what the manufacturers challenges may be th-cam.com/video/Gm_OpsuqIlU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ghXc9DyLSTmARIZ0
