  • Restoring a rusty draw knife bought cheap to perfection.
    RESTORATION old tools
    Is a new series I might start if you like it. It has nothing to do with the log cabin series, only that some tools might be featured. Next video will be a normal episode of me working in the forest on the log cabin series. Let me know your thoughts on this series in the comments. I have some nice axe heads that could be next.

    could be a new series were I bring old tools back to life. It has nothing to do with the log cabin series, only that some tools might be featured. Erik nice job. Came out great! I am a big believer in restoring old tools also. I am 66 and have inherited two generations of tools and have maintained them the way you are. I think it’s neat to keep old tools alive and at the same time you have a chance to rework them to fit you. May times I have reworked handles to fit my own hand, some were to large or small. So yes I like these as well. Great work..👍👍

    Again, seriously impressed. Though how the handles stay in without a securing nut at end is beyond me!
    I sense a lifetime of teaching by someone who knows. Grandfather? But well done taking in the knowledge and putting it to work! :-)

    which tupe of woods using to handles ? :)

  • @NoblenessDee
    @NoblenessDee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    dude its a draw blade , the handles are going to pull off the first time to put it to hard use . you didnt make it like it was originally. the metal had nubs at the far end of the handle to keep it locked on.

    • @ImThatGuy17
      @ImThatGuy17 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was waiting for him to drill a through-hole and weld new nubs over the ends to lock the handles on...only to see that he didn't even use glue to set the wooden handles on. I enjoy the handy/crafty work, but practical function should top the list. A boss fit alone doesn't work with this kind of tool.

    You using a log as tool station voor sawing make me wonder... Do you own a vise? Any way good idea for a series. Edit: my first question answered itself

      Yes I like to work on smaller projects like this during the winter. I like to do a lot of wood carving/ soon carving also. Maybe I will show some of my work in a future video.

    Good job! Yes, I'd watch you restoring tools, and some of the tools you will likely show will be new to the audiences in the USA! Many of the tools the Swedes use, we've never seen or heard of! Of course we probably have our versins of them but, it would be good to learn more!
