    Simply put - Meslier has to go. It's not just his liability, it's the confidence it has on his defensive unit. They then make mistakes based on them not trusting him. Confidence is needed at the back to assure us of going up.

    This is the way I see it, been supporting Leeds for nearly 60 years. Illan comes across as a nice lad. But my concern is that he has not improved, are the coaches to blame ?, has the keeper got low confidence or just not up to this task ? I think its now time for a change of keeper. Bryn Law is a great interviewer. Sorry Illan, you have played 200 games and thank you for that. But it time to go lad.

      I do feel Any keeper gets rusty when the 10 players in-front of him dominate games and leave him nothing to do. It's a shame, but it'll be a nice opportunity for him to go to a team that is more used to coping out of possession.

  • @PirateDrive

    Fair play to you guys on this one, as you and Bryn alude to there's obviously a section of the fanbase that would want Bryn to throw Meslier under the bus at the first opportunity and try to get Farke to do the same. But we've got some interesting insight here into the life of a journo trying to tow the line of asking those difficult questions in a professional manner whilst also trying maintain a relationship that is going to make their own life easier, especially for someone in Bryn's somewhat unique circumstances.

    If Meslier was Welsh, Darlow would still be in goal for Wales. What I’ve seen from the Wales games Darlow has been decent. He’s got to be given a chance now until we find a new keeper that is premiership standard going forward.

      That wasn't difficult. Meslier was literally throwing in goals at that point in the season. He'd conceded about 12 shots on target in succession a few games prior.
      Remember Bielsa had no alternatives. He had only Klaesson as backup GK, an unproven kid who looked worse than Meslier in the U23s. I think Bielsa would have dropped him as well if he'd had the choice.
      Playing him ahead of Casilla was probably a mistake. Casilla was nowhere near as bad as fans seemed to think. He was solid compared to Meslier, and had experience.

      @@HenSid-m7tFarke thinks putting on every attacker is the answer. He's as much to blame as anyone. He doesn't go on form either but on favouritism. He's a bit of a coward with the academy players too they don't get a look in and would be better leaving the club.

      That’s a great point - even at 3-1 they were running through us, we gave away so many needless free kicks too, when their best option was to launch it into our box, which 2nd and 3rd goals came from ( notwithstanding monumental keeper fuck ups).

    The team is that good they keep the clean sheets without Meslier having to do much. But on the occasions he is called upon, which isn't often, he is prone to bad decisions and outright fuck ups. His positioning for their first goal was questionable, but you can forgive him that once you go 3-1 up. But then he goes and does it again. I understand why Farke likes him. But in all honesty, I wish he had gone in summer. It's a bad time to bring someone in who understands how we play.

      Illan was the player who most suffered from Marsch's abysmal coaching and management. He went from a goalie capable of winning Prem player of the day in Nov 21 to a player who looked shell shocked from keeping behind our poor defence by April '23. He needed rehabilitation work last season but, while he has been OK in my view for most of this season, the need for some Bielsa team level coaching was plainly there. Sadly it may now be too late; although I for one hope not.

    We let go Summerville and Rutter always tough to replace them. Loads of goals from Summerville and a bunch of assists from Rutter. Still though we have more clean sheets plus bigger goal difference. Leeds need to stop being defensive allowing pressure to see games out we need to stay on the ball slow games down, taking ball to corner not allowing balls in our box. Keepers make mistakes and when they do it’s costly and noticed more than anything, that lad has saved Leeds over the 200 games played can’t praise his heights to then bully his mistakes.

    Why does the gk coach have Meslier catching crosses in the warm up when he doesnt do it during the game. We conceed at corners , his strategy seems to be just stop on his line and let defenders deal with it. He didnt want to put ball over the bar and concede a corner.

    Get where Bryn is coming from, but bloody hell, if pussyfooting around it is the approach, how will anything change for the better? Meslier simply isn’t good enough, hasn’t ever been the complete package, which you could forgive a little if he didn’t appear to have gone backwards in doing basic GK bread and butter stuff. It suggests that whatever they’re doing in coaching sessions is clearly not working for him. Appreciate Farke has to protect his player to the press, but let’s hope the actual truth is being shared with him behind the scenes.

Daniel Farkes man management has to be proven more now than any time he's been Leeds United manager Mesliers confidence must be shot to pieces and looking at the players when that ball was going over the bar and Meslier palmed it down for Hull to score say's it all they went mental especially Joe Rodon says it all 😳. We managed to get a point I have calmed down let's move on fingers 🤞 crossed the 49ers 🏈 are working behind the scenes for bodies to come in I think this time the 49ers 🏈 have to do something because if they don't do anything it could bite us in the backside 😫. The legendary Don Revie once said about Gary Sprake I kept him in the net 🥅 too long due to having faith in Gary Sprake even though he made mistakes I remained too loyal I should've changed the keeper situation sooner and we might of won more matches so staying loyal could cost you as Don Revie was more or less was saying at the time. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the highlights so can only rely on my feelings from what I saw on the day, Two major mistakes from Meslier, horrendous goals to concede but my overall feeling was I hope the club put a collective arm around him. He is a young lad, miles from home working in a high pressure job, true he gets paid well, but remember he is only human, we all make mistakes, but most of us make them without the glare and publicity that comes with playing for the biggest club in the Championship. The cup game has come at a good time, doubtful he would have played against Harrogate anyway, so give Darlow his chance, remove Meslier away from the frontline to work on his form.

    We are top of the league with Meslier, but he has made enough mistakes to be classified as a weak link in what is a very strong squad. Stick or twist ? I'd twist at this point, I'd give Darlow a run, and I'd be looking around during the window. My fear is that if we stick with Meslier the mistakes will become more frequent as we near the end of the season and the pressure builds. Twist.

    I don't fully get why we are all pussy footing around the situation as if meslier is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. These people are millionaires and their wages are paid for by the fans and supporters of the club. It's quite transactional. all the companies who sell the football broadcasts expect our money every month, the club expects it's income, and as a result the fans expect the manager to be competent and hold players to account. We also expect the manager and the management at the club to show ambition. The club was about 150 million euros up in the last window and they took 60 million off redbull, we have a small suad that is not performing so it's only fair to a) challenge the manager on this and b) expect that the club shows a bit of ambition in terms of the squad.

      @Neilleeds 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ he’s not “bad” but he could better . I’m not a farke out guy but he’s got all the tools to win promotion with this club . He failed last season . I’m worried we fail again

    • @Neilleeds
      @Neilleeds 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ I agree with most of that . I wouldn’t call Gruev and ampadu journeymen . Listen he’s doing a lot of good things . But Meslier has to go . Now . And aren’t you worried with our away form ? The teams around us have no trouble in going to Blackburn or Watford or millwall and winning . I’m just saying i have concerns

    One of the problems, as i see it. For all his mistakes Meslier is still seen as a high value player and is often linked to other clubs (whether or not that's just his agent trying to justify his 10% is another thing). The club are not going to want to just throw him out the door without a reasonable return.

    • @williammorrison898
      @williammorrison898 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The problem with that is his value is plummeting the more he plays.

      Farke is stubborn and hates being proven wrong. Remember that 20 min spiel in a presser about Rutter/Piroe in the 9/10 position and he stuck to his guns for a while only for Georgi to eventually play 10. If the 49ers don't put pressure on him to drop Mes then we're fooked....!!

    Meslier has been a disaster for 4-5 years. His stats have always been absolutely shocking. For some bizarre reason the fans love him though. He got Bielsa sacked, he got us relegated and he stopped us from getting promotion last year. That's how bad he is.
    GK and CF are the two most important positions on the pitch. And the fact we're still relying on Meslier and Bamford (to some extent) is shameful. GKs and CFs win and lose you games, especially when the pressure is on.

    Best believe if the keeper situation isn’t addressed in January & Mes is still picked as No1 then when he makes his next mistake which inevitably he will I will 💯 be venting my anger at Farke as I think many others will. It’s so clear what’s wrong just do the simple thing & fix it 🤷🏻‍♂️ Great show as always 👍🏻

  • @leakylloyd8423

    Let’s have it right,
    He made 1 mistake that game, not 2
    The 1st could have happened to anyone and the 2nd wasn’t as easy as everyone is making out, if he puts it over the bar and hull score everyone abuses him for not catching it,
    If he catches it he’s made a save and no one’s mentioning his name at all,
    As it stands it was an awkward one which he fumbled but here’s the thing,
    4 defenders,,, 4 ! Failed to react and 1 striker fled react and stuck his chance away,
    I’ve not heard a single Leeds fan mention the fact the full defensive line failed to react, instead choosing to put it all on the keeper,
    Every single person at that club has made him a scape goat for the draw, the lot of you should be ashamed,
    Best support in England ?
    Don’t make me laugh !

    FARKE to blame not promoting competition in his squads since he’s been here. He overlooks hard work and sacrifice something a real manager uses as the bedrock to improving players performances.
    It seems this cub is full of Yes men and weak cowards who don’t have any personality.

    Still think the dynamic of these eps with people who work with Leeds is slightly odd. The pod is usually great because there are no shackles and you’re free to say whatever. But Bryn is extremely shackled. He has to be opinion-less on a show meant to spread your guys’ opinion. Still watched it all though haha!
