    Man this takes me back when I use to go camping with my kids almost 40 years ago....they would be all excited and when we would get to our favorite camping spot and time to set up camp I couldn't find them to help me..my kids would be off exploring and checking out new friends that were camping in the area.. boy those were the days. I would like to have them back again even just for one day..ENJOY....

    I think I'm done with the internet today on a positive note. That's the most awesome video! I love getting my boys, 8 and 3, out in the woods. You just can't beat father and son dirt time. That knife, wow, memory lane here we come! I can still see all the hooks, fishing line, matches, and that amazing commando saw ,haha. I'll never forget when the nut that held the handle to the blade came loose and I lost it. The blade became a spear point and no bullfrog or water snake was safe, haha. excellent video, man, good times!

    Good dad my dad gave me a US air force survival knife when I was little your son is well beyond most kids twice his age I was given a small survival kit and some food in a camouflage pack just incase I was lost or separated he told me to stay in on spot and blow my whistle and after awhile start a rock circle fire the fire will also be a signal to people looking for me and to do this in a clear area so I can be spotted from the air and if I hear a plain or chopper to use a signal mirror he took his time to teach me just like you are doing now good JOB DAD

      @justindawson3428 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Erin Spencer Don't be embarrassed these things happen to the best of us, you should be proud for getting out with your son. It is funny how the trips that go wrong are the trips you remember the most, with that in mind you and your son are going to remember that trip for a long time.
      I hope the next trip works out better for you.

    • @justindawson3428
      @justindawson3428 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Melissa Paley Sorry to hear about your husband.
      There is nothing wrong with being a girly girly the world needs girly girls just as much as blokey blokes or any other type of person.
      I'm a Scout leader in Australia and I get lots of kids who's parents either hate camping or just do not have the time, I once had a kid ask me on a camp where the dishwasher was, I told him to find a mirror and he would see the dishwasher. The poor kid started to look for the mirror so I had to stop him and explain the joke, when he went home he had a smile ear to ear telling his dad all the things he had done. Scouts can be a good place if your son likes camping etc. as long as you take an interest he will be happy and grateful. The main thing is spending time with your kid in the city or in the bush, my preference is in the bush but we are all different.
      Whatever you and your son do I wish you the best.
