The concept of BO3 is amazing. If it was executed better I feel like it could have been one of my favorite campaigns ever. At the end of the day I appreciate Treyarch for taking a risk and trying to tell a very unique and creative story.
The soundtrack for this game is amazing, especially the Frozen forest theme, which is mixed into a lot of the tracks. The most epic version is near the end, which symbolises the insanity of the Frozen Forest mindscape as well as realising we've been playing the story of events in reverse. The name of the track? A World Upside Down.
Excited to hear your take on BOCW when we get there. I never actually played BO3 campaign, just heard it was shit, so you've given me a very new perspective, thank you.
Another thing to note, the entire Battle of Bastogne, and by extention the Battle of Foy is a call back to Call of Duty: United Offensive one of the most popular maps of the the original CoD and its expansion. It was one of the most modded maps at the time, and there are a lot of easter eggs and 1-to-1s of item and building placements to the original Multiplayer Map and Singleplayer level experience. There were "Foy 24/7" servers all the time up until around 2010, now most of the servers are old dedicated ones with niche communities. Call of Duty tends to do this quite often, finding and reusing things from their older games that held a lot of significance to the playerbase. They'll reuse names and scenarios as subtle call backs. Considering BO3 was built on the same modified Quake engine just like every other CoD up until MW2019, it would not have been hard to port and polish assets from previous titles along with the bells and whistles they wanted us to experience in this installment.
I never really cared for the advanced movement system in MP, but both BO3 and Infinite Warfate had some great campaigns. Watching this made me realize I need to play through them again.
I think the best part is the fact that youve shown me a different perspective, I’ve gotten to appreciate the story itself and what happened as a self contained game outside all the comparisons
I can't believe there's someone who talks about the goods of bo3 except from zombies. I love that they had the brave to change. Which is what we all wish nowadays.
I like to find the good in everything if I can. I sincerely doubt anyone out there wants to make a bad product (Unless they're intentionally scamming) so I wanna try and praise where I can. BO3 is hardly among my favorite COD games but I do like it a little more since making this video lol

You've definitely inspirited me, and wanted to ask, do you ever plan to cover the zombies for any of these games? Random coincidence about language for 16:32: It's very probably not voluntary but DNI, in Spanish can mean "Documento nacional de identificacion", meaning "National Identity Document" (i.e. your ID card). Kinda fits with the in-game idea of the in-game DNI, but for military tech.
I like your theory, but i've seen many people also theorize that the majority of the missions is what the Player experiences during death as a result of the first mission. Because the brain tends to jumble things together and hallucinate and form things to try to rationalize what's going on. I think Taylor and Player's memory's mixed and as Player got closer and closer to death, his brain naturally freaked out and hence the missions and story get more chaotic. I think the last mission is entirely in Player's mind whereas every other mission was Taylor hunting Stone. But honestly who knows with Black Ops 3. Really great video.
Yeah, that’s a theory I’ve heard as well, but I really wanted to try and think of where the pieces were pointing to. Though like you said, with BO3 there isn’t really a clean cut answer lol Thanks for watching!
Ah yes bo3 one of my favorite games in the call of duty franchise. I’ll be honest as a kid I didn’t know what was Really happening, until now as a teenager I too saw all the signs I didn’t seen before. Kanes bandana, the twist we were reliving Taylor’s memories, Dillon stone was the person Hendricks really shot down in lotus towers, and the weird corruption Corvus was doing to the humans that were diagnosed with D.N.I. I will admit the story itself was pretty confusing but I still love it and even more for how different and the twist trayarch and Activision were going for…at least…that’s what I try to imagine…
@@majorcalzone Just finished it, your quality has drastically improved since the BO1 vid dude! I can't wait to see your channel blow up, because you deserve it with how much effort you put into these. As for BO3, I still really don't enjoy this campaign, but I still loved hearing your takes on it (And honestly I've become more fond of the ideas presented after watching lol). The issue with BO3 was that its story was simply convoluted by their attempts to make it complex. 18:58: What would you say makes a good tutorial? In my opinion, besides being useful and understandable, I'd say it's for the tutorial to not feel too artificial or forced and to fit story-wise. In-game, the simulation actually fits my criteria.
A good tutorial to me is either one that’s perfectly integrated into the gameplay (like you don’t even know it’s a tutorial) or one that’s short and informative.
honestly after watching BO3 story summed up by Gaming Harry this damned games story would've worked if somehow they actually allowed you to play as the characters from the comics which the story is based on, while later on disguising the missions with the player as new missions but in reality they are repeats of the previous missions with little details changed to fit the twist in the end that you the player is dead and Taylor is the one that takes over. What' sucks more than anything is they could've taken the leap and made the longest campaign story in Call of Duty but somehow the people in charge chickened out because during this era they were too stupid not to realize that a good campaign might give the people who like the story and the gameplay an opportunity to request and probably pay for a multiplayer mode(please don't this is just what I think they would do if it was successful cause it's COD), That or they focused all their attention to Zombies story which isn't any better considering the leaps you have to make to progress and understand the damn story as well, as if the main campaign wasn't such a confusing fuck-up to begin with. To this day it amazes me how COD as a franchise is almost afraid of making a long and compelling campaign with memorable characters when one of their most memorable titles had a long history backing it up, and a fleshed out story, hell even Zombies had fleshed out stories (note being fleshed out doesn't mean long for me but rather they give enough info through body language or dialogue that it gives players an understanding of their character view points, philosophies, personality. what they would do in a given situation and how they'd do it). The damn campaigns always get caught lacking; Infinite warfare had a decent story some slightly compelling characters but I agreed that one of it's greatest flaws was how they handled character deaths and how sometimes they cheapen it, with contrivances spread around the story. People making a campaign story shouldn't be afraid to put a shit ton of effort into it. Writing a good to great story is not easy and shouldn't be something they shy away from, when the best video game titles in the industry are remembered, praised, hell even worshipped because of their story, and characters and even then they had constructed gameplay that ties in with the characters and the world around them, they could've done that in their new games but so far only MW2019 was better written(still had it's flaws minor and major), and had better gameplay compared to it's successors. I never bought the idea that always advancing into the futuristic aspects of warfare will become boring or overplayed; cause as long as you write a good story with gameplay that fits in with the story you are telling them. Not only will it shut up the "Haters" whatever that means, but it would be a good way for the community to basically advertise the game via word of mouth or through communities for...FREE.
1:25 just started the video but id have to disagree about the cod communites wants being "evil generic foreign enemy" mw2019 kinda had controversy around it concerning the highway of death mission, since they completely retconned history to portray it as the russians doing. Lots of people were upset about this. And i think these feelings kinda continued into cold war when all our villains were just, generic mustache twirling cat petting bozos. If anything adler takes the stage as the real villain of the story, I just wish they wouldve went more towards the route of adler being a radical patriot who you cant trust or maybe you can betray him in away that fits into a cohesive story instead of bell just calling the entire perseus/nationalist army from a radio that has surely been tapped by someone above adlers paygrade. Hoping Black ops 6 or even hopefully the year after which is supposed to be a bo2 sequel will provide a stellar cod story. Black ops 3 had its moments and its losses, Id attribute it to a lack of clear direction and craig houstons magic being focused on zombies at the time #BlackOps6

My experience was very similar. It wasn't until I started working on this video that I really noticed all the little details that BO3 had and, man, I was blown away!
This is a great video though it might be worthy of thought to split it into two parts with the traction of the first video the second video might get even more views and you shorten the overall time making the long watch time more bearable. Love the video man

@@majorcalzone a very good video, definitely enjoyed. Good job on the vid man! I skipped bo3 when it came out but I did just buy the chronicles edition on steam when it was on sale so maybe I'll run through the campaign. I was disappointed back then when someone told me it didn't relate at all to the first two games and didn't end up buying another cod until bo4. Have you thought about reviewing the dead space games? I know you mostly do cod stuff but I feel like they would kind of suit your style of videos too

@@majorcalzone So in other words, I also love this game. And you got most of this right. That ending theory was what I thought as well, verbatim. I've been on the fence about making a video about this game, myself. There are some things I think I could even further elaborate on. Especially about the game's rough development and more real-world implications and predictions it made, especially in relation to AI and how it can turn entertainment into a factory line product. I also found it interesting how this game looks like Windows 8 and likens technology to mass murder. I'm sure that MS deal was years in the making, so it wouldn't surprise me if Treyarch knew something we didn't and tried to warn us.

That or they focused all their attention to Zombies story which isn't any better considering the leaps you have to make to progress and understand the damn story as well, as if the main campaign wasn't such a confusing fuck-up to begin with.
I personally loved the game , the campaign was ok not great not bad, just ok ; the zombie level was pretty cool imo . Everything else was epic !
Zombies is my personal favorite part
Me : See the title go for the dislike button
Major Calzone : gives an honest well meaning heartfelt genuine reason why he loves the game
Me : clicks the like button
Haha I appreciate you waiting on that dislike. Glad you enjoyed!
@@majorcalzone No problem It is important to always give things a chance before giving an opinion
Them not making a BO4 campaign was a such a huge L. Could’ve helped so much develop this campaign and flesh it out better
For real. I really don't know why they chose to go this route, but it's the one they went with.
your back!!!
I’m back!!
So basically, this campaign was playing 5D Chess while the community was playing Checkers.
More like they were both playing 5D chess, but the game didn’t explain the rules very well lmao
I didn't appreciate it then but I wrote off the entirety of BO3 because I wasn't happy with the campaign. Looking back- the hints you were dead are mind-blowing
Love the video man
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it :)
I definitely toyed around with the idea of making this a two parter but I personally don’t like it when creators I watch do that so I chose not to. However, I do see your point with it so maybe I’ll consider it for next time!
this gonna be gooood
Hope you enjoy it man!
@@majorcalzone a very good video, definitely enjoyed.
I agree wholeheartedly about how a lot of the characters definitely needed more time to be fleshed out. maybe then things would have hit harder, but all in all. I still have no care for any of these characters, unlike others.
definitely helped me see the game in a different light though, good work on the video.
@@squeak5213 I’m glad it changed your view on the game! My views on it were also changed upon playing it again and I really wanted to do the same for anyone who watched this :)
I know you mostly do cod stuff but I feel like they would kind of suit your style of videos too
I’d totally suggest running through the campaign! It’s fun to play if nothing else lol
And yes I’d love to do Dead Space some time! CoD is what I’ve done so far but I definitely don’t want it to be the only thing I cover :)
@@majorcalzone I kinda figured they would fit in with the era of stuff you've already covered.. I guess they even have a "misunderstood" 3rd game haha. I just got done playing the remake and it was awesome.
@@justinl1999 I also played the remake back in January and LOVED it
He gotta do ghosts
Did you read the comic about dilan stone? I think it can make stuff more clear.
I did not, unfortunately
you need to hold the bolt driver button i think
Hmm. That could be the case, but I honestly don’t remember. Maybe I misread the prompt lol
@@majorcalzone idk for some reason i just remember the prompt being wrong when i played
Mfw I can't watch this because I want to avoid spoilers😭
are you going to eventually makes vids on the modern warfare series??????
Yeah at some point. Both the classic and new trilogies. Not sure when but I will get around to them lol
excellent video
Thank you very much!
Hey you still with us?
WHAT IS THE FROZEN FOREST?!
@@majorcalzone this is where I was born
Nah this game was beyond disappointing to me with all three elements sucking ass until the huge zombies update out of nowhere then it became my favorite
Masterpiece is a joke so funny i forgot to laugh
That's a long video. You must be compensating for something.
I don’t know what you’re talking about I’m not compensating for anything hahaha why would you say something so silly 😂😂
@@majorcalzone Taylor's confidential 12-inch boom boom definitely had everyone going wild, I know you did for 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 35 seconds. Outcome? Come go boom. You must compensate for coc in booty by using grip and laser sights in your loldout.
Masterpiece? It's so f*cking boring and bad
True frfr no cap
No hard to understand this crap make no sense, they make a zombie ester egg when we just want a normal campaign or you are gonna said 99% of the player that didn’t understood the campaign they are wrong
At first i hated it but then i saw the ending. Alice in wonderland 1 and 2, the matrix, the raven, bo1 were the key to under the story of bo3. Dx said it best th-cam.com/video/GyQPQ3IA3xA/w-d-xo.html
