Hi Gents, this reading need to be taken with a grain of salt (that is, it is just an indication). These tests are great to compare bikes under the same environmental conditions. This test is a non-dynamic test, that is, it is not representative as in an outdoor environment. Two (2) main factors are missing. Firstly, the air flow into the inlet is SUBSTANTIAL restricted as the air flow into the bike is essentially 0 KPH (just check the riders shirt), so the bike demand for air is immensely deprived. Secondly, the air/road friction is another factor. I would not hesitate to say, that given there is not sufficient air feeding into the inlet, these figures could well be 3-5% below of what the bike can achieve. The only way to get a closer Power/Torque figure would to have a variable speed fan right at the front of the bike to simulate road conditions. Notwithstanding, it is a great starting point. What is interesting is that the Dyno for the 2019 YZ450fx scored 53.24 HP / 32.57 TQ. The 2020 YZ450f posted 48.9 HP / 29.3 TQ That means the 20 yz450f is registering about 8% lower HP and 10% lower TQ then the 19 yz450fx. I wonder how much of that is in the dyno (e.g. maybe it got a software refresh or re-calibration ) vs how much is in the method ( maybe there was some tire slip ) vs bike? Hard to believe that the off road model from last year makes 8-10% more power then the mx version of essentially the same bike but then again can't compare peak numbers 1:1 it's really about the area under the curve.
I know this is late but Yamaha might have made it less horse power for a couple of reasons like the new tuner you can download on your phone to tune the bikes power so they probably turned it down from factory just to encourage people to use the app the other reason might be for traction purposes.
They had the same results like that on the dyno between the crf450r and the crf450rx, the 450rx ultimately ended up having more torque and horsepower according to the dyno test, idk why this is
With the intakes at the front is there any possibility of a ram air intake effect at higher speed,which would in turn produce lower reading on a dyno? I see some of the(Bike It) kawi boys in mxgp run a front intake over the fuel tank, im guessing for that reason?

This is somehow inaccurate... i had a 2016 crf 450r it should be 53 hp. Now i have a 2020 yz450f and the power is much much much more.

This seems like it revs a bit higher though. Check the calibration on the dyno.
