Hello friends, really hope I haven't missed something obvious in this, because this whole video took so much longer than anything I've ever done and it's left me so exhausted, but I'm really happy with it.
I got new recording software, though halfway through production, so that's awesome.
Thanks so much for watching.

such an interesting mystery, it'll be cool seeing what role it has in dreadwolf - if you've seen absolution i wonder if, you know, that bit with the 'crimson knight' will tie in at all.
also sidenote, it's fun to find a fellow scottish person doing videos about one of my favourite game series, glad i found your channel!
I'd absolutely need to go rewatch absolution tbh, but yeah, could have something to tie in with all this. Also, hello fellow scot :)
Interesting. Very similar format than 2 of the other channels that do cover DA. Nothing bad - just an observation.
What made you pick this subject in particular? (the Idol)
Also: Here id a little review of things at stakes in Dreadwolf.
1. The chantry situation
2. 2 old gods were found
3. Weissaupt is at war with orlais' warden. (But could be much worse)
4. Tevinter has been re attacked by the Qunaris and is in political/internal chaos.
5. Orlais potential dispute/scheming.
6. Kal sharok
7. The warden's cure quest from DA: O's warden
8. Old god/Flemeth/Solas
9. The titans are awakening.
10. The forgotten ones are returning but something is off
11. Outcome of the architect.
12. All around alliances depending on DA, DA 2+ inquisition.
13. Sten's return+great dragons
14. Sandal
15. The potential survival of the one left behind in the fade depending on who you left. (Lore notes were given+DA2 flemeths advice)
16. Many ancient magisters still at large.
17. Status of the inquisition.
And much much more.
I actually dont believe Solas will be the main villain. Its gonna end up being the Evanuris but there will probably be more twists as all the pieces are finishing their final moves.
Lets not forget that the blight is alien also to the fade (and the city is also alien) the dwarves did not interact with it nor with the darkspawn thru the standard means.
Yeah, there's a lot to think about going into Dreadwolf, a shame much of it gets overlooked for the likes of Solas and his plans, developers seem to be keeping their cards close to their chests (it's a bit concerning, because people are coming up with so many theories/stories in their head of what DA4 will be, and when it finally does come out, a good few of them -likely me included- are going to be a bit disappointed with what gets resolved and how, and what doesn't get resolved, kind of like how the mage/templar war was hyped up only to be tucked under the rug in Inquisition).
As for the choice of topic; well, the new teaser dropped on dragon age day, and I really wanted to do a breakdown of it, but if I did that, I'd have to refer to the other teasers/trailers - problem is, I haven't really watched them since they came out. So waaay back I went to 2018 with the game awards teaser, and I decided to do a video about the idol, since it's kind of a hazy topic (what it is, how it got from a-b), and I thought it'd help some people out who were interested 🙂
The woman's headpiece looks like what Andraste is shown wearing. Also similar to what Mythal is shown wearing.
I’m digging your content
Thank you for posting this
4:42 I think this is actually the influence of the blighted titan, the way he talks about it reminds me of how normal titans want to reconnect with the dwarves.
i'm more and more convinced that a piece of mythal (maybe a big piece??) is within the idol and the idol is compelling people to bring this piece back to the others. if so, it'd be super interesting to see if that means that mythal would have pseudo grey warden powers
like, we know mythal's got a bunch of broken pieces and we know they can inhabit people and objects. it'll be very interesting to see in dreadwolf
The idol is Foci, just like Solas' orb.
Samson's sword was just a replica of Meredith's.
It'd make so much more sense if it was, honestly. But I do think it's the real sword reforged, given the details given about it:
"A sword of deepest corruption and conviction, it cannot be the red lyrium blade that drove Kirkwall's Knight-Commander Meredith to madness. It cannot have been reborn in arcane energies somehow elven and Tevinter and Blight intertwined. And it cannot have inspired in the name of a magister who once entered heaven and would dare so again. One wonders what this sword cannot be next, in the hands of the Inquisitor, if he/she is not careful."
- description given about Certainty
as well as the wiki saying:
"The fragments of Meredith's Red lyrium greatsword, Certainty, were recovered; the blade reforged and taken by Samson as his personal weapon."
So, while it has been reforged, it technically is still Meredith's sword, if that makes sense.
*Kind of like Narsil and Anduril (Aragorn's sword from lotr - while Narsil was the broken sword, and Anduril is the sword reforged, it's still technically the same weapon).
@@ladysulevin Yeah but that description is phrased as an obvious joke. Kind of like the "Load Limit Reached" codex.
As for the wiki, it's probably just some random editor posting unverified theories.
But if it were the real sword fragments reforged, then what happens to it if the Herald recruits the templars? Samson isn't even encountered in that case, and Cory presumably kills him.
@@BelieveIt1051 Maybe so, though about the sword if you recruit the templars: I think you can find it in the emerald graves when you complete the astariums of the graves sidequest.
Concerning the Idol my belief isvit was forged before the veil and reason it can be forged into my different objects is hinted by his dialogue "imagination defines reality" now consider this even after the veil was formed spirits can react and adapt according to the minds of the living objects intact from before the fall logically could still operate in same manner. Another object supporting this is the "Foci" of Solas. Even after the fall and the veil beinf created it still worked.
Ohhh, I love this. You've given me an idea I want to pursue to see how far it goes...
