Tracing the Clones-Enniskillen railway line on Google satellite and street view

  • Most of the old railway route from Clones to Enniskillen remains intact. Running a reopened line through some villages presents a challenge, but it would not be impossible to get some sort of rail route through those places. Enniskillen itself presents perhaps the biggest challenge, but again it would not be impossible to get the line reopened reasonably close to its original route so that the station could be reopened close to the town centre and trains could pass through to Omagh.
This would go a long way to restoring railway services in a part of the country that has been deprived of them for too long.

Reopening the railway line would bring back trains stop 1) Pollution, 2) Car Accidents/Road Deaths & 3) Traffic Jams.

Lisbellaw does have a bypass. It opened in 1968 and is still in operation as the A4.

Re Enniskillen station, I wonder would it have been where the loading area for Dunnes is now?

Are you trying to hint at Translink, to tell them to open the Fermanagh/Omagh railways again??

Yes. Examining the physical possibility of it, and hoping to inspire railway advocates to campaign for it.

@@eamonnca1 yes because I know a man who took the last train from Belfast to lisnaskea, I would love to use a train instead of a bus or car for a change :/

I'm pretty sure rice motors opposite Lidl is part of the old train station
