Many thanks Ben for the eye-opening visit & tasting at Glenallachie! This all sounds very exciting - no wonder Billy Walker decided not to retire. Must be a dream to buy a distillery full of variously aged stocks and then set about developing new expressions with specific characters. Sounds like their wood management policy is being set up for the premium market, just as their proposed peated expression(s) will be. What I’m also fascinated by is the re-development of the blends - including age-statement peated expressions! They must have bought some amazing stocks from traditionally peat-based distilleries to be able to get into that area in such a way. The big question now is which one to try first. Cheers!

I first tasted the product of this distillery just a couple of weeks ago when their 2010 cask strength 12 year old was recommended to me. This is an excellent whisky. Being bottled at 61.1% ABV and matured in what was obviously a very good PX puncheon, the depth of flavors and aromas it provides are tremendous. The price for the quality delivered ($140 US) is pretty remarkable too, particularly in light of current market conditions.

i like this distillery, because of theirs wide range with special casks , i am exciting to try first bottle i think it will be 15Y and some special cask like PX or madeira wood or sauternes

Just went on a tour. He walked in to the tasting room and poured the me and my wife an extra dram of brand new 18 year old. It was amazing. He is around the distillery and is not afraid to come say hi to guests. What an amazing brand and a amazing owner. The distillery guide is a master in the field. Wonderful place to go. Skip macallan tour (go and see the distillery but no tour) and go here instead

The bottles on this video are clearly the much lighter ones from earlier batches. Today it looks almost like Coca-cola and it's so much better.
