  • In CNC mill programming class, we are making a spark plug holder with 3 circular pockets. In this video, I'll explain the G13 code and parameters and show an demonstration of code being used in the Haas CNC mill.

Would have loved to seen a 45, 60, 82, or 90° chamfer around that pocket. You may already have that in later on. Great explanation on G13. G13 makes life so much easier.

G13 vs G03/G02/G01. What’s the difference you ask? G13 cannot simultaneous make a “Z” move until the end of that line of code and it hits the loop. G03/G02/G01 can in fact move in Z while pocket milling or cutting a radii/fillet/chamfer etc. things to think about when programming G03/G02/G01 and R function circular interpolation. If the radii you are trying to achieve is under 180° it will be a positive R value if is greater than 180° the R value must be negative. There is a ton of great resources available on HAAS F1 website or just look in the operating manual if available. Thanks y’all have a good one and keep learning the G-code and don’t be afraid to practice on some scrap material using G-13 with and without a K, Q value.

    Is that aluminum material?
