Those are broken in poles, those are the best poles to climb. Cutout city are the poles that nobody climbs, those frozen torn to shreds by the weather poles.
The ones we’ve got right now are way past due. 10 week program and there’s already 2 classes then about 5 weeks in our class. That pole he’s on in the video is just about the perfect pole.
"TO THE TOP" thats what I hear lol . Im in 600v school now. 75 days on the pole . 2 weeks of intense climbing and framing and then services and single faze transformers lol
I hope they did the first step of learning how to put on their squeeze properly. Face the caribeaners out always. Or you can go for a nice long ride down the pole.
new climbers are the funniest thing, cause it is easy as could be to climb the real challenge is when you have stuff you are climbing with and have to actually do work on the top of the pole haha
pole climbing is kind of fun but for people who are scared of heights it freaks them out definitely made me a bit nervous my first time because u are relying on those tiny hooks but with the bucksqeeze even if you do loose your footing and drop u wont slide down so no reason to be scared with that setup
I always climbed how it was comfortable. Ninety feet up foreman told me to safety off over the hardware. I did it. It restricted my movement. So I safetied under the Hardware. I could move then.
You know what's funny about this? Is the trainer Mel in this video literally just left NLC last month in 2022 to take a job with PG&E. Mel is an absolute unit 😂😂
After 42 years of climbing... I still remember my first climb! A 65 foot pole.. I was terrified!
@Jon Willard You're right!
My last day working was when we were required to change to them. I have a poster of my last climb in my office.
