She has also talked about how all of her songs involving love are actually about her career and how its like a toxic relationship
That makes total sense. Off camera we did talk about how she has a love hate relationship with music currently. We concluded that she love the feeling and free expression music gives her, but over time when dealing with contracts and roll outs, it can take all the organic fun out of it. She steps away from music and finds a different creative outlet but always find herself coming back to her roots
a lot of people dont get lonesome love as its very blunt with its lryics. The line "nobody fucks me like me" is her knowing that shes basically fucked herself over for falling for this man who only wants one thing from her as seen with her paying for the taxi to leave. as much as she tries to appear like she doesn't need him every time they meet she gives in because he just knows how to "butter her up". while she is getting love its the type of love that leaves her unfulfilled and lonely so yeah it is basically a song about falling for a one night stand
yooo that makes a lot of sense. The "nobody fucks me like me" threw us for a loop but that totally fits the the larger picture of the song.

Happy y’all enjoyed this one! I think you’d really like her prior two albums to this (Puberty 2 and Bury Me At Makeout Creek). Very unique, more alt rock/punky but still a lot of variety and top notch relatable songwriting as always. Your Best American Girl (on Puberty 2) is arguably her best (and it’s what put her on the map). Crazy she wrote all these in her early 20s just out of college!

whenever mitski puts out new music i turn all the lights off and crawl in bed and listen with headphones on to fully feel everything happening lol. i do this with hozier too, but for him im usually face down sobbing. i see me and my husband as a kind of commentary, not something literal! even jf it were literal, you could tell it wasnt a totally healthy relationship. she says "so i bet all ive got on that furrowed brow, and me and my husband we are doing better". sounds like the vlassic "i am nothing without my husband who treats me like crap" trope. you can hear how desperate she is to say "we are doing better, its always been just him and me together"!!

Me and my husband is about being in a relationship where even though you live a nice life you still feel unhappy and alone and even throughout all that you stay with yours husband and Pink in the night is just about being very infatuated with a person to the point your just crumbling away but in a good way
Some of her songs are personal other are like her perspective my and my husband is one that’s like a perspective
Half are about a break up. Others are about music. So "Me & My Husband" isn't about a man. It's a personification of Music. It's a writing style she uses a lot in her writing

when it said nobody f's me like me, i think it was that nobody can put her in a bad situation like she can. she feels that she is the reason she is in a bad situation with a person. she feels like she needs to prove something to someone she's trying to love.

Mitski was never married, she often writes songs using different metaphors or characters, if that makes sense, and in Me and My Husband she wanted to use the pov of a house-wife in a unhappy or maybe not fulfilling relationship, but despite all of it she still has her husband by her side and they’re in this together (at least that’s one of the many interpretations). Geyser is one the songs that’s not about a person but about her music career. “You’re the one I got”, “hear the harmony only when it’s harming me” “but I will be the one you need the way I can’t be without you” - Even when she tried to retire, being spooked by the sudden viralness and fame in 2021, she still came back with The Land is Inhospitable because music is what she does and what she loves and her purpose in life, even if it’s a love-hate relationship because of the fame and its downsides. Pink in the Night could definitely be about masturbation lol but she said the song’s about “this visual of someone glowing pink because they’re so infatuated”, but knowing that it’s probably not reciprocated, or at least she wants to know if it is. I think Come Into the Water is about being afraid of making the first step without knowing for sure that it’s mutual, and asking “are you going to take the plunge with me?". Overall I think your reaction was very good!! Her lyrics have many interpretations but if you don’t get it the first time you could benefit from checking the annotations on Genius. Her other two albums Bury Me at Makeout Creek (which she recorded right after college) and Puberty 2 are more punk rock, like other ppl already said. I think you’re gonna like it! Sorry for the long comment, Mitski been my most listened artist for the past 3 years haha I get hyped when people listen to her songs
