Dorothy is like Yoimiya from Genshin impact; she is not bad but the company insists on putting her between high valuable banners making no one pull for her besides the waifu factor.

Indeed. Here's some advice from someone who has her in the CN server. So far, she is very fun use. I use her a lot in IS2, she crushes the lancer stages. She's also a very very good crowd controller. Her damage is okay, honestly it's not her big point. Overall, if you're looking for fun, she is the right pick, but if you're saving for the future banners (packed with meta operators) you might want to consider skipping her.

(9:29) Just like what you said, her flexibility is certainly useful, but also very complex. I think new players will have a hard time if they're using her as DPS dealer, and I rarely see some high level players use trapmaster specialist, except for specialistknights. If you want to use Dorothy as a main unit, you need to learn how to be good at positioning and maintaining her traps at perfect time, since trapmaster specialist can't summon their trap on occupied tiles.
I think the issue with trapmaster characters is they need ground tiles to function which not all maps have, they also can only detonate their traps if an enemy steps on them instead of doing something more controlled like W who can detonate on command. Like if Trapmasters were to get an upgrade the best thing you can do for them is give them the ability to manually detonate the trap instead of having the first peon that walks nearby trigger it. Its also about teamspace, why bring a trapper to something a caster or a support can handle instead. The only reason I can see them being used is if you have plenty of ground space but no elevated tile space like the Stultifera Navis boss battle. There trappers can shine so long as you don't have Goldenglow.
Dorothy is one of the few operators I've been really looking forward to. Mlynar and Texalter are just more delete buttons. Penance is cool as a Mudrock alternative. But Dorothy invites interesting play, while everyone else is so straight-forward and boring. AK is quickly digging it's grave with all of these delete button operators now. It's kind of sad to see. "Don't get this operator because this new delete button is coming soon!" is such an awful mantra that HG and Yostar seem to be embracing way too frequently now. I wouldn't be surprised if I see people saying they're not to get any ops after texalter because Yato is the new broken op and you NEED her.
They are not digging their grave. Strong operators make more of an impact in cc and for newer players. For player who have been playing the game for more than half a year should have operators with which they should be able to clear most of stages ( except for probably high risk cc ) Imo it's more about how versatile and different the new operator is compared to the existing ones which matters. So until the game can make unique operators they should be doing fine. This isn't a PvP game where having strong characters is necessary.

Delete buttons don't teach people how to play the game, or how to formulate strats. Those operators are such overkill that it trivializes the general game. How that's consider a good thing for new players is strange to me. Why would you want the new players who haven't played the game for very long to have access to operators that make it so they essentially don't need to play the game? That kind of defeats the purpose imo. Especially when players willingly skip operators simply because they don't trivialize the game. Why would HG create balanced ops when so many people admittedly wont pull for them because they know the next busted operator is on the way? There's no incentive for it then. That's not a healthy feedback loop.

Risk 18 can also considered to be high risk for some players. And the upcoming cc can be solo cleared by Texas which would favour players who want all the rewards. Newer players benefit more with a stronger operators than a older player. I myself found using chen alter in pretty much every stage in my early days of playing the game. Now I don't even keep her in my squad as I want to develop strats which are unique and makes me feel a lot better than just using chen to make the stage cake walk. Currently pretty much every stage is possible to clear with 4 stars only except for probably the H stages. If the game can maintain it that way then I don't think strong operators make much of an impact. Even if game were to bring more strong delete button operators it would help newer players to chose from a wide set of banners.

This comment is exactly my thought. I was saving 300 pulls for Mlynar and Texas alter so I didn't even care if Dorothy's banner got delayed. Today after listening to her theme and suddenly I realised that Ling is one of my favourite operators and I haven't used her at all lately. Then I thought that Dorothy would be great with Ling and with enough IQ they can be really fun instead of using my 0 IQ brain and keep spamming OP/meta operators on every map. Today after almost 60k Orundum and 3 off-banner operators I finally got her and it's so worth it. I think I still have time to save 300 pulls for Texas alter and I would be glad to skip Mlynar and his boring delete button gameplay.

Can't afford to level her up 2. Don't want to level her up 3. Don't have a big enough brain to use her 4. Won't ever use her
I am hesitant on pulling for Dorothy, but her theme song more inclined to get her. I planned to skip Mlynar anyways so its just the question of will I have enough pulls for the limited banner if I try to get Dorothy.
I think the Main Problem for Introducing a Trap Master Specialist to new players is how rare it is to have them. If I'm correct currently there's only 3 Trap Masters After Dorothy and they're stupid rare for new players Frost may likely never come back because it's a Collab Opperator who specializes in Bind and Stun Robin may be a welfare but I don't think Mansfield Break is gonna have a Operation Reward anytime soon who specializes in probably the more fun Bind and Push And now Dorothy is a 6★ Trap Master who specializes in Bind and Damage, Lots of Damage that are probably too complex to do chain reaction damage
And there is still maria nearl's event before Mansfield break in the record restoration line up, so, there is likely going to take a long time for robin to become available for new players...

I wasn’t too interested at first, but the more I see her & what she can do, the more I want to pull for her. Now that she’s voiced by Allegra Clark, instant yes.
She would have been a consideration to pull if only she wasn't paired with the Ultimate DPS Uncle and Texas Alter banner shortly after. People will be saving for the next banner especially for F2P unless you really want Dorothy.
I fell in love with Dorothy the moment i heard that character song. However, with so many upcoming meta operators, i'll just have to get her in a future selector or in the shop...

I haven't been able to complete event missions and get all the rocks for stages. I need cracked operators to get all the rewards. Doesn't change the fact that I still like her a lot.
It's to be expected. All of these players talk about needing meta units; yet every time HG shows the stats for High/Max Risk CC clears; it's obvious all these people with meta units aren't actually doing meta gameplay; so it defeats the purpose entirely. I'd bet money most if not all of the people in this comment section saying they're skipping Dorothy for one of the future delete buttons coming up are the same people who don't actually do their own clears, and just pull for units so they can copy strats off BB or TH-cam.

Okay hear me out here...... First of all, I'd like to make it clear that I have nothing against Dorothy, I even pulled for her and got her already. But I just think she's not really that interesting of a character (at least not interesting enough to make immediately playable), I gotta say I'm way more interested in seeing Mary as a playable character. It only occurres to me of how Arknights paints the infected in such a way that makes prop immediately pity them, literally every story we got about an infected character is about their miserable life after getting infected (although to be fair, it is a relatively close equivalent to real world Cancer). But then we got hit with Mary, specifically when she's getting angry at Sonny for everything he's done after getting infected. Betraying her trust, literally robbed her house, forced her to cover his crimes and all that. I feel like this issue is one that's only been made a focus point briefly during the entire story length of Arknights (particularly in Twilight of Wolumunde), where sometimes being a victim doesn't actually justifies your actions, especially when it includes ruining someone else's life. Soooooo what I'm trying to say is................... playable Mary when?
Me originally planning on pulling on the Dorothy Banner cause trapmasters seem fun to play around, then saw Texas alter, Chong Yue, Mlynar, and Yato Alter, so I said "Alright, I'll save for other operators". Then Dorothy Banner got memed on until she finally showed up, so I did a 10 pull. Then I read the story and decided I'll have to pull because of backstory. ;-; rip my orundum stash for limited alters

Problem with dorothy is that since she was skipped by HG she is basically a month forward her schedule release We have mlynar texas alter and yato alter coming right at us... its just not the time to get a non meta 6 star like her atleast this is my opinion

Glad you are using Neural Cloud OST at the beginning brief story! 0:38! I play both games and love them! Also, if you like Dorothy. Check out Turing in the future. You'll be surprised how both Dorothy and Turing are similar! Both are head researchers of their respective departments (Rhine Lab, Rossum Sector) and have similar outfits (Labcoat with Yellow/Gold flair). They even have the small bot at their side to help them for their research. I can't wait for Turing to come to Neural Cloud! I will pull for Dorothy! Plus she's the same VA as Selena from PGR (Satomi Sato). So pretty much a guaranteed pull for me!

I think the Main Problem for Introducing a Trap Master Specialist to new players is how rare it is to have them.
If I'm correct currently there's only 3 Trap Masters After Dorothy and they're stupid rare for new players
Frost may likely never come back because it's a Collab Opperator who specializes in Bind and Stun
Robin may be a welfare but I don't think Mansfield Break is gonna have a Operation Reward anytime soon who specializes in probably the more fun Bind and Push
And now Dorothy is a 6★ Trap Master who specializes in Bind and Damage, Lots of Damage that are probably too complex to do chain reaction damage

@@saiyatan maybe, but I've only been playing for 2 months, not exactly good at the game and Dorothy has a punishing gameplay for a newbie. I haven't been able to complete event missions and get all the rocks for stages. I need cracked operators to get all the rewards. Doesn't change the fact that I still like her a lot.

It would make more sense to place her banner after Texas and Mlynar
It's to be expected. All of these players talk about needing meta units; yet every time HG shows the stats for High/Max Risk CC clears; it's obvious all these people with meta units aren't actually doing meta gameplay; so it defeats the purpose entirely.
I'd bet money most if not all of the people in this comment section saying they're skipping Dorothy for one of the future delete buttons coming up are the same people who don't actually do their own clears, and just pull for units so they can copy strats off BB or TH-cam.

Okay hear me out here......
First of all, I'd like to make it clear that I have nothing against Dorothy, I even pulled for her and got her already.
But I just think she's not really that interesting of a character (at least not interesting enough to make immediately playable), I gotta say I'm way more interested in seeing Mary as a playable character.
It only occurres to me of how Arknights paints the infected in such a way that makes prop immediately pity them, literally every story we got about an infected character is about their miserable life after getting infected (although to be fair, it is a relatively close equivalent to real world Cancer).
But then we got hit with Mary, specifically when she's getting angry at Sonny for everything he's done after getting infected.
Betraying her trust, literally robbed her house, forced her to cover his crimes and all that.
I feel like this issue is one that's only been made a focus point briefly during the entire story length of Arknights (particularly in Twilight of Wolumunde), where sometimes being a victim doesn't actually justifies your actions, especially when it includes ruining someone else's life.

Me originally planning on pulling on the Dorothy Banner cause trapmasters seem fun to play around, then saw Texas alter, Chong Yue, Mlynar, and Yato Alter, so I said "Alright, I'll save for other operators".
Then Dorothy Banner got memed on until she finally showed up, so I did a 10 pull.
Then I read the story and decided I'll have to pull because of backstory. ;-;

Eh, who cares about the ops coming up honestly. They're just powercreep delete buttons anyways. In another year they'll probably all be considered obsolete with the next wave of even more braindead ops get released, and everyone will tell you not to roll on anything else besides those new busted units too.

Both are head researchers of their respective departments (Rhine Lab, Rossum Sector) and have similar outfits (Labcoat with Yellow/Gold flair). They even have the small bot at their side to help them for their research.
I can't wait for Turing to come to Neural Cloud! I will pull for Dorothy! Plus she's the same VA as Selena from PGR (Satomi Sato). So pretty much a guaranteed pull for me!
