@@JacksonLebsack did you also check out Lech/Zuers and the rest of the Arlberg? Its also epic!! Worth also to mention is the amount of powder it gets every winter season due to its ideal climate. Insane. All the best with Jamie in Hawaii!! Have fun.
Please stay at St. Anton…they get shit snow facing south…😂😂 because St. Christoph and Stuben are the best sleeper mountains with Lech and Zurs, and Warth to the north…..ssshhhhhh
@@Flex2212 true! But living in Val dIsere, it’s obvious there isn’t so much attention put into avalanche control on the off piste. Normally, when a dump happens, the Mountain Safety put a lot of work into the pistes, bombing and controlling conditions to make them safe, but don’t do nearly enough with the off. After I lived in Whistler and witnessed the amount of bombing they do all over the area, it’s a very big and noticeable difference. In Europe, going off pistes is definitely a much higher risk, so always carry your beacon. 🤙
It doesn’t feel very legendary when you’re given almost no notice to leave your hotel and the resort, with the railway station being closed down (the main way of transferring to airports). It was total panic as thousands all tried to leave at once, with no-one knowing if we’d be allowed out of town or not, and where we’d go if we weren’t. Avoid Austria like the plague.
Avoid Austria like the plaque...what a comment. every other ski country in Europe followed suit and did exactly the same thing. The only difference is Austria/St anton did it soon enough and others didn't. No one wanted it to be like it was. i live in St Anton and rely on the winter trade, and you posting stuff like this is exactly what a seasonal resort DOESN'T need. @jackson, awesome video man, you have done a good job of showing Anton for what it is... an awesome ski resort.
Iain Mortimer - St.Anton & neighbouring Ischgl most certainly didn’t do it quickly enough. The Icelandic authorities warned them at the start of March when a number came back to Iceland with Covid. And I later found out one of my relative’s wife caught it in Austria in late February. I and four of my party also caught Covid in St.Anton, where there were no warnings given atall, despite hearing mid-week that there were already some problems reported in Ischgl. And even when St.Anton was closed, the linked resorts of Lech and St.Cristoph remained open for a few more days, where we’d all been skiing earlier in the week! The class action by the VSV consumer organisation, on behalf of 2,500 covid effected skiers, shows just how reckless these Austrian ski areas were.
@@Benzknees okay mate...firstly all resorts 'shut' at exactly the same time, they are the same lift system. secondly st anton was put under lock down instantly where as lech and st christoph were not, but the possibility to ski was still not possible. Yes ischgl should of done something sooner and shut the bar down sooner, hind sight is a wonderful thing. but everyone needs to stop acting like with out ischgl the virus wouldn't exist. everyone loves to point the blame, but pointing the blame solely in such a way at an already fragile industry will kill ski resorts off and result in many business closing and jobs lost. then where you gonna go on holiday ... double think about that ... huh
Iain Mortimer Not in St.Anton that’s for sure! As reported here www.politico.eu/article/the-austrian-ski-town-that-spread-coronavirus-across-the-continent/ Austria ignored the warning signs and were a major cause of the disease spreading around Europe. And it says lifts continued to operate till Sunday. And describing St.Anton, one of the busiest ski resorts in Europe, as fragile is absurd. Greedy would be a better adjective, putting profit in front of its customers’ health. With an attitude like that it deserves to fail.
@@Benzknees You're such a fk hypocrit. The resort should've shut down earlier? They ignored the warnings? Well mate, if there were warnings, why did you go? Thats the reason the resort didnt shut down immediatly. Back then we didnt know what we were dealing with cause we never had such a thing. Winter time is the most important time for ski resorts. How often are there avalanches at the ST.Anton ski resort?
France, Austria and Italy has some of the highest amount of avalanches and loss of life annually because of avalanches in the world.
@@pyramusk3264 Because the highest concentration of winter tourists crawling through the mountains also is there.
