    this changed everything. I was making a bag handle and I thought of the little bumps and it started to bother me. I stumble upon your video after a few others on straight edges, but nothing as perfect and.. radical! skip the turning chain, you'd never think it's possible, but it actually looks way prettier now, so thank you! xxx

    Thank you! Because every other person seems to have a different method, and they’re all complicated! With a bunch of different rules! Like on the first one don’t do this, but on the next two do this and then after that, we do this and this, and then, at the end, you have to go back to this….. seriously, yours was the first one. That was just easy! Omit the turning chain! THAT’S IT!!! Thank you! Thank You! THANK YOU!!!!! I’m a BEGINNER! I need it to be easy!

    Modifying the turning chain I get, and have done for a long time. What impresses me most, is that you give the foundation a beautiful knitted-edge look to it by skipping the front and back loops, and using only the bottom loop (base loop, spine, etc). I've done that for years to make softer edges for seaming, but will alter to use fl or bl if I have different joining requirement, such as on garments or certain textures I wish among squares--unless I "lace" them with intricate, final row ch-st weaving, etc.
    Nicely done video! I think this will help beginners gain more confidence in even scarf-making.
    Keep on Crocheting!

    I literally just went out on a limb and tried this a few minutes ago on my own. Edges are so hard for me. Unsure if I should continue my experiment, I found your video 😀 yay! Thanks again.

      @argonwheatbelly637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's yarn. Buy, e.g., a RH Pound of Love, and just experiment. It's worsted weight, and an I or J hook will keep it open enough to play, but tight enough to show. Most of all, have fun!

    My hdc rows also look smooth by doing just one turning chain at the end of each row (and not counting it as the first stitch). You end up doing the last hdc of each row into the corner of the work, a bit lower than the row, but it’s making a pretty smooth edge. For the foundation, you only skip one chain and start hdc into the second ch. I thought I was doing it wrong but it’s actually better! Thanks for this video!

      @@aVa-tt3zf if you start your work with chain 22 then yes you would skip the last ch and hdc into the remaining 21 chains and continue each row with 21 hdc… I think.

    No matter how many videos I watch, I'm still having major issues with at least 1 edge, usually both. I feel like I'm missing a last stitch or something. Will keep trying.

    So my question to you is, I am doing a picture blanket, and if you skip a stitch, it kind of messes the whole blanket with this mess. My my blanket up at all if I did this method.

    I don't understand what you are skipping? Are you meaning that you don't do the 'chain 2 or 3', then turn, at the end of each row that patterns usually ask you to do? Will the row count be off if you don't do that? Thank You!

    Question! I started my first throw for my carch (any Aussie Kath & Kim fans? Ok sorry) and I have the bumpy edges. If I change to this method would it look terrible? I'm like a third of the way done and don't want to frog it, I kinda like seeing how bad I was when I started it compared to now a year later. I've been going slow with it and doing amigurumi mostly.
    Idk if I should just continue and make a border. I tried this turn method once and it seemed to make my HDC row not as high. Do I just make the loop even longer?

  • @ifuckedyourtiger

    • @katyb2793
      @katyb2793 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you need to place a stitch marker in your first st, so you don't crochet into the wrong thing... also keep the loop taller when you turn your work, I noticed she did that.
      Good luck! Crocheting isn't that easy but we learn!
