I saw this in the theatre with my siblings after some Covid restrictions were lifted. It was the last movie I went to with my sister before she passed on unexpectedly a few years later. As a USAF military brat who travelled the world, our family attended a remembrance ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand to honor our ancestors. Amazing movie and amazing memories. ☮😎👍

In the beginning yes he was fully power hungry past thousand years until he fight & met his wife, now he’s just a deeply griefing father mislead by the evil dragon thru the ten rings that is playing on his grief and suppressed bad ways in order to use the rings to free it. You cant help feel bad for him and toward the end as he’s dying he realizes its time to repent for the wrongdoings he’s done as well as realizing Shangchi is now ready to inherit the rings.

Going on and on,, it is a timeless moment just after Eternity ends where you live in the being of that person only as long as you can hear them talking..you wanna keep looking at them because as long as you look at them you are feeling something indescribeable that you might think is feeling the oneness of the unity of,, the togetherness of two separates intimate,, bridged in the indifferentiate of Love you have with them.......one does not have to ever be with the person in order to love them..perhaps,, don't eVer, say,, not EVer. The Eternals are why Thanos did what he did. He is part of all that back story. You may not be thrilled with the movie but I LOVED it because I read the comics and I know how big and important that back story is. The Eternals is about the power structure of the MCU universe. From a story line point of view no comic or movie is bad because it ads to the overall story. To miss one comic is to not be complete. It's not about the individual bricks but the over all wall they are part of. Only Hollywood thinks of stories as individual things and not part of a bigger picture. It's the micro and the macro.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings pays homage to martial arts with its acrobatic fight scenes, use of traditional weapons, and incorporation of multiple styles.
It also directly pays homage to Two Jackie Chan Classics
    1) When one thug tries to grab him by the jacket, Shang-Chi wraps his jacket around the assailant's arms and knocks him back. He then quickly slips the jacket back on in time to drive an elbow into another goon's chest, which draws parallels to the supermarket brawl in Rumble in the Bronx, Chan's breakthrough in the American market. 9:25
    2) As the Golden Daggers underground circuit gets invaded by Wenwu's goons, a brawl breaks out that sees Shang-Chi and Katy try to escape via scaffolding on the side of the building. It mimics Rush Hour 2, where Chris Tucker's Carter and Chan's Lee ran afoul of the triads, which caused them to engage their enemies on a scaffolding outside a high-rise. 17:22
Edit: because of your connection to Tai Chi that you kept talking about at the end....
Martial arts styles featured in the movie
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu: Known for its high kicks, swift movements, and aerial maneuvers
Tai chi: Used by Shang-Chi's mother, Fala Chen, who trained in the style
    Bajiquan: An explosive martial art
Wing chun: Ip Man's choice of martial arts
Hung ga: The foundational style of southern Chinese kung fu, performed by Tony Leung Chiu-wai

Not everyone liked this one, but I did. Just FYI, Katy's grandmother was a bond girl. She tried to kill Sean Connery in the beginning of _You Only Live Twice._ Tony Leung is awesome in this too, but the surprising breakout is Meng'er Zhang (Xialing: Shang-Chi's sister) who is not only badass, but quite charismatic and a wonderful actress as well. In her first acting roll! Fala Chen as their mother is good too, and had real chemistry with Tony Leung.

Really? I’ve never heard of anyone saying they didn’t like this one.

    • @tarmaque
      @tarmaque 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

@@Elviolli I remember when it came out there was a lot of negative opinions about it. That said, I think as time went by impressions improved. Then again, the opinions may have been from Marvel nerds who didn't like the changes made to the various characters. It didn't help that they'd already muffed _Iron Fist_ in the Marvel Netflix universe, and the characters were originally pretty similar. In fact, giving Shang-Chi the rings makes him even more like Iron Fist, who has the mystical "Chi powered Iron Fist" at his disposal. Iron Fist is supposed to be a master of all martial arts, while Shang-Chi is The Master of Kung-Fu. I think it's also funny that Steve "Captain America" Rogers has also mastered all known martial arts, and freely teaches them to other Avengers and heroes.
And then there's the original connection to Fu Manchu, who was Shang-Chi's father. That's been through several retcons, although until this film he had no connection to _The Mandarin_ who has always been mostly an Iron Man villain.
But those are my feelings on the subject. I thought the movie was enjoyable, in spite of the changes which irritated me a little.

If I got it, I’m gonna give another vote for Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979).
You’re allowed to make fun of it. It’s not so much “so bad that it’s good” because it’s not really bad, it’s more “so 70s it’s ridiculous.”
