I've been using this recipe religiously since you posted it always impresses my girlfriend and her family, my family also tells me to always make it... love from Texas :)
Thank you so much for sharing this delicious recipe. My mom used to make this for me and my 7 siblings back in the 70's in the winter time too. My mom has since passed and my dad asked for it this morning. I was like, I've never made this before, I need help. I searched and found several recipes but none that I remember the same ingredients my mom using until I found yours. I made it this morning for my dad and I and he absolutely loved it. He asked for seconds. LOL! Anyway, I have saved your recipe and will make it more often.
Looks so yummy!! Im 66 yrs old and a pretty good cook, but never tried my lazy hand at making this, even though I love it! So now after watching you I am gonna try and make it. A friend of mine would use pet milk and add fruit cocktail, yeah I had never heard of that!! But it was oh sooo good! Blessed day to all.
I decided to only put 3 1/2 cups of water and kept everything else the same!! OMG!! Its perfect!! You are my go to for authentic recipes that my mom and grandmothers made when I was growing up!! Your recipes are on point for flavor!! And bring back so many memories for me!! This recipe is awesome!! Thank you!!
I haven't had this since my mother passed away, and I never knew how to make it. one day I felt nostalgic and decided to to look it up, and here we are. Thank you so much for showing me how to cook one of my favorite childhood meals.
I wish this was newer as we just found it. We wanted a quick sweet something with rice. Your channel has been a go to for many ideas. This evening I got things cooking and discovered no condensed milk... I had sweetened condensed but not just condensed. Changed the recipe to 'canned coconut milk" thought it would be close enough. Not even close. The flavor was very good with all the ingredients combined but would take either a lot more rice or... gelatin. Yup, orange gelatin to be exact. Best tasting mistake we've made in a long time. Absolutely insane delicious!
I forgot to say earlier, but I made this the other week and my kids and husband loved it. I remember going to my abuelitas as a child and when she made it, it was the best thing! It’s soooo good on a cold rainy day!
Wow! Takes me back to my childhood in Alaska. My Mother used to make a rice pudding dessert that we all loved. I never got her recipe, but your recipe ingredients (including the raisins) was our favorite dessert. The additional step I remember as a kid was to place the "slightly thicker than porridge consistency" rice & milk into the oven to bake [temperature & length of time - 😥 I don't remember] until a more gelatin consistency with a dark brown skin covered the surface area. I will try your recipe which looks like the best start to the dessert I remember from Mom. Thank, thank you. 💝👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏾
You’re that type of person who doesn’t know how to make something but then all of a sudden have the best recipe…. 🙄 I like it with the 4 cups of water the way she said!
I am from Los Angeles where I used to eat so latin dishes. I now live all the way in France and am missing all this! Thank you so much for explaining so easily and with a gentle voice how to make this. Also thank you for putting the ingredients in metric system in the description. You’ve earned yourself a new subscriber!
Thanks for showing me how to cook this classic rice atole. It brings back alot of memories of my childhood. Your a great teacher and i LOVE your recipes.
Thank you for this! My Abuelita used to make this for me, but with raisins. All the other recipes out there have an egg. This is the one I wanted!! 🎉👍🏻😋
My great grandmother used to make this recipe & chill it on her huge wraparound porch in the wintertime...yes thicker like a pudding with raisins. What a wonderful memory ~ thank you💕 I’m going to make this for my grandchildren🌺
My mom used to make this many years ago. We would eat them with toast or cinnamon tortilla strips she would make from left over masa she had. We’d roll the masa out, cut out strips, cut a slit in each strip, turn it out and fry them. Then sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon. Yum. Good memories. Thank you for the recipe.
I cooked this just today and everything came out so so good my kids loved it ! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us. I remember my mom always made this for us on the cold mornings.
I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS AND LOVE EVERYTHING YOU COOK OR BAKE,,YOU EXPLAIN EVERY THING SO VERY WELL THAT IT MAKES IT SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS THANKS FOR SHARING..
Hello! Just made this recipe this morning. At first I thought I had done something wrong but then I realized I missed the part where you said to add cinnamon powder if I felt I needed to and it was the perfect thing to do! My arroz con leche used to be watery and now it turned out just like my mom used to make it. Thank you.
Girl!!! My grandma got alzheimers and never told me her receipe and let me tell you that I cried eating this. I laughed at how silly I looked. But to be honest with you it hit home. Thank you!!!
I was bored one morning and decided to make this! Surprisingly I had ALL the ingredients! The only thing I added to it was arnotts SAO crackers for extra thickness! In another recipe with the crackers I make a cracker pudding with coconut cream and it's delish! Thank you for this recipe, my family was surprised I was awake and cooking lol. It came out delicious!
Came to spend Christmas with family in San Antonio,TX. As it turned out we had freezing temperatures, so I decided to try out your rice pudding. It really hit the spot. Thank you so much for the recipe. Happy holidays!!
Thank you for the recipe I’m going to try to make it for my family today since it’s starting to cool down. Thank you also for the verbal tutorial because I am very used to just being a visual learner but you made this sound and look too easy! 😊
Ohhh YUM! 😊 Just made some and it is delicious!!!! Warming and satisfying. I did reduce the water to 3 1/2 cups, added just a pinch of cinnamon, and a few raisins. Sooo comforting! Thank You for posting this. My family is going to love it 💕
Once I tempered in an egg yolk or 2 sort of like pudding, but can add more milk to thin. You also answered my question about coconut milk.many thanks, and blessing to you and your Son.🌺🙏
Many years ago, when I was staying in San Cristobal Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, I would buy a glass of this for breakfast from the senoras selling it on the street. Thanks for the memories!
This is so weird what perfect timing this is. I recently moved to a new city and this whole week I've had the most random craving for arroz con leche but I haven't found a place to get any. This is perfect!
My mom used to make this when I was a kid. I made some last year for thanksgiving with me and my brothers and significant others. It was like the first thanksgiving with no “adults” aka people who know how to cook… this thanksgiving giving my sister in law asked “are you going to make arroz con leche again?!” So I did. Then they said I should make it for Christmas too! Lol
Yummers! I was just telling my husband how I would love some rice pudding! How cool, God put us together! And so easy! I'm gonna go make this ! Thank you!! 😄
I've been trying to make it like my grandmother's but haven't been able to get it right. I will bet money your recipe is it! You have not let me down yet! Thank you! Wonderful video ❣️❤️❣️
Sounds Delicious. I might try this and add a couple beaten eggs for thickener and protein for the morning. It sounds delicious for any time of day. Thank you for such a great video.
My daughter's favorite thing to eat! I've never used vanilla extract in my arroz con leche. I heard from someone that it's a game changer. Also I use lechera as well as evaporated milk.
Omg I was just thinking of making this today too!! My son has to have a dairy free diet so I use alternative milks! This is his favorite desert 🥰 thanks for making this great yet so simple recipe!
Dark Angel52 yes! That’s the one I use too! My son is also allergic to almonds so we only use coconut milk😅 I do the water, then a can of coconut creme and sugar, cinnamon and vanilla :) it’s awesome!
Day before yesterday its 80 here in Riverside CA then yesterday cold rainy now cold again...Now Arroz Con Leche warm me back up. Could not remember how my Abuela did it I thought she used the sweet condensed milk. Good thing you posted this today HA HA ...Roller Coaster weather sucks

Every recipe I have ever made from you has never failed me. I will try this later on today ❤
You're like my stand in mom, teaching me how to cook. Thank you so much.
