Great! Take your time. Yorktown took me 5 years, Bismarck almost 2.

This is an AMAZING history of the Bismarck; any WWII history fan will love this, it’s detail, craftsmanship of the model builder, and comprehensive narrative of history. Remarkable! 👍 👏👏👏

Hello Dan, she's (he's?) a beauty. I'm planning on building a Tirpitz but still unsure about 1/350 or 1/700 scale.
2:10 I would recommend showing numbers on screen to help with the presentation

Noticed the Iowa-class has two rudders, while Bismarck only seems to have one. This engineering mistake was obviously the reason for her loss, but was it a common practice to only use one rudder on capital ships in the WW2 years?

Not sure about that. Might not be obvious in the video, but my Bismarck model has twin rudders. My USS Yorktown CV-10 has a single rudder.

@@danhart8126 Even more impressive that they could nick them both with one torpedo then!

    What red for the hull?

I used Tamiya TS-33 dull red spray lacquer, which I admit is an exception to my statement that I used all acrylics.

Good video. One mistake, Bismark exceeded the treaty weight displacements. Thats why KG5 and Prince of Wales were only
35000 tons. This was agreed limit. Please stop saying England this makes it seem like Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland had nothing to do with the war. Say either United Kingdom or Britain please. I've got the Academy 1/350 Bismark in my collection to. Already done the Hood. Same size.

Partly true. “The ships secretly exceeded the figure by a wide margin, though before either vessel was completed, the international treaty system had fallen apart following Japan's withdrawal in 1937, allowing signatories to invoke an "escalator clause" that permitted displacements as high as 45,000 long tons (46,000 t).” I do not say “England“ or “English” in the video. I say “British” as in Great Britain.. Since I can’t edit audio on TH-cam, the video stays as is.
