Run your channel like a business and contact the manufacturers of the products you like. You would be surprised how many will send you samples for testing, video reviews, and honest opinions regarding your specific needs and uses for their product. You make wonderful videos. Think positive thoughts and how to get what you want and need. Do not think in terms of how something is out of reach. Your own mind will be your only limitation. Soon you will be turning products away for lack of time or hiring others to help. Good Luck. Enjoy the ride.
Nothing is out of reach for you. Time is your limitation. Choices always need to be made. Stay healthy, live long and you may yet live all your dreams and desires. Love your videos. You have a lot of talent. Enough videos and nothing is financially out of reach either. Someone will sponsor your efforts.
I got bit by the spinning bug last year and those floor spinning pedal machines and all that plying stuff did surprise me by how much they cost. So far I play with hand spinning and plying chunky wool yarn. I just moved to a studio apartment where I can leave out my craft things and I hope that will get me back into spinning. It will be a struggle. My job is going into the holiday schedule of 50-60 hour weeks. I feel the struggle to make this hobby "pay for itself." I listed things on Etsy dreaming big and never made a sale.
I feel you! I don’t have the space for a floor loom so I will purchase a table loom with the maximum shafts for my budget. I also absolutely want a mirrix tapestry loom and the arras one by Schacht. Many of the tools you mentioned are in my dream list of purchases. I also would love to get a fancy serger and a coverstitch machine
@@darcyfabre hugs from Provence! I’m back at my inkle loom today to make a strap for a crocheted bag (backed with mesh for rigidity) and can’t wait to use it soon! Adrien
Honestly I found that after a few years of acquiring tools (and they are quite simple - interchangeable needle set, a bunch of crochet hooks, q-snap frame for embroidery, and my rigid heddle loom) I no longer want more tools, I already feel a bit overwhelmed haha (probably since I have so many hobbies). What I really find myself wishing for these days is time to enjoy all of these crafts. Tho ngl a jacquard loom would be sweet to have lol :)
Oh, I definitely already experience a bit of overwhelm with all of my hobbies. I've been selling my weavings for the last two years, so a lot of these things (skein winder, e-spinner, spin dryer) are all geared toward making me more efficient for production. Ideally, I'd like to have a separate studio space that isn't in my home to house the larger equipment. Although it's fun to show people my massive loom when they come over, it'd be nice to have the master bedroom back 😅
heyho ^^ You seam to be a diy person so if you know someone with a 3d printer or have a maker space close by, there is a bunch of build instructions and 3d printing files for both normal electric yarn winders and cone winders out there. Might be fun to build one have a bit cheaper winder and learn something about electronics along the way :) i mean they would be cheaper in money but obviously would take time instead so take that into the consideration. Also loved you weaving videos so far as a complete weaving noob they're really helpful and entertaining
Hey, thanks! I used 3D printers in undergrad, but I don't have one and unfortunately don't know anyone/any place nearby that does. It does seem like a fun project though! Maybe I need to add a 3D printer to the ever-growing wishlist lol
@@darcyfabre at least 3d printers can be fairly cheap i guess. I am also want all the hobbies and can't afford them so i feel you ^^' I am currently trying to build my own 8 shaft table loom cause i can't afford to buy one so i'm buying the metal reed and some wood and i will probably print some of the parts as well. If I'm successful i might be in need of selfmade electric yarn winders myself who knows :P
I just love to find someone who wants as many types of tools as me! LOL! But right now I am wanting new looms. I want a Louet Jane and a Louet David. I also have ordered lots of weaving thread to dye myself, as I love dyeing and I neglected to think about how I was going to keep it from getting all tangled up,
I've never used one, but I've heard great things about the Louet looms! I've dyed weaving yarns as warp chains from my warping board or warping wheel and as skeins using a dinky umbrella swift. I love dyeing so much, but it's quite a big production. I'd love to make it more efficient.
Boy!! Do we need to talk to save you money on your wish list. You need some quick information on all these lists. As for knitting garment software try Garment Designer by Cohenille. This is a much better fit for you today and much less money. I have many softwares including DAK. Passap E8000 is more of a yardage machine. I can lead you to find them less than 10k. E6000 is still a manageable knitting machine and can and is being hacked like the Brother machines. Brother is a single bed machine that can have a ribber attached. Passap is a true vframe. We need to figure out which machine knitting community fits your personal goals best. Maybe you will end up in a warehouse with all of them. LOL. You need facts and not just the opinions of others.
Hi, thanks! I hadn't heard of Garment Designer, but I've known people that have used Stitch Painter. I'm really not ready for another knitting machine at this point. I've still got a whole lot to learn on my machine. I'm sure somewhere down the line, I'm sure I'll be looking for one. By then, I'm sure I will have figured out what my goals are in that regard. I saw someone in the Passap Ravelry group ask if there were hacks for Passaps, but last I saw, no one knew. Do you have a link to where I could learn more about the Passap hack you mention?
