I actually just finished this kit today after a 3 part stream with a friend who bought an RG red frame astray as his first ever gunpla. This kit was my first RG as well and I loved it aside from the waist being a little hard to work with and the hose assembly
This kit looks nice when it is finished, but it is by far my least favorite build in my collection. It's limbs are super flexible, but the useless torso and frustrating skirt hinder that movement. I despise posing this kit. The weapon systems are spectacular though, and I have swapped them out with some of my HG Origin Zakus. If you're looking for a good Zaku II, go with the Origin kits. They are a pleasure to build, and are nearly as detailed as a RG. Newer RG are fun too, and not nearly as frustrating as these older real grade kits.
I guess it depends from person to person. I have not build an RG, but the early RGs from what I've heard of, are hand grenades. Not sure how to true this is but many do say it. I heard the monoeye moves when you move the head but you probably don't want to move it because of how it may pop off. Anyways, great video. Stay safe
The earlier RG kits have some parts that would fit better or last longer with some glue. The RG hand Grenade to me is the RG Zeta with the transformation. The more recent RGs like the Sazabi and the Nu Gundam feel more like mini MG kits. They are improving, Bandai just announced the RG Zeong which is very exciting.
RG 01 is absolutely terrible. By which I don't mean the design, it looks amazing, but it comes apart if you give it a stern look, just over designed, broken up into too many subassemblies, the tolerances aren't tight enough and then there's the early pre-molded inner frame that although a FANTASTIC idea, just doesn't hold up. I have an RG Zaku II on the way and I'm happy to see and hear it's not as bad. I highly recommend checking out the HG Origin Zaku's, which in my opinion are phenomenal HG kits.
I have tried to make this kit twice. Both times I had parts on it break. I've built some old ass kits from the 90s and yet this thing was still more horrible to deal with. Looks good when it's built though.
I also found it to be very frustrating. Parts of this kit are very difficult to pop in to place without breaking them or have them fly across the room if you're not extremely careful. I found a little bit of glue to be helpful in places (the waist hose connections for example).
J ust got this, and more me, it's a pain in ass, i can't find part 05- ¹ D. And the tubing is such a pain, I've had to buy wire tubing to make it easier.😂
How tf did you have his wrist pieces not fall tf off? I gave up on the kit on the right arm and I'm never buying a RG again because of this kit. Too much work for a horrible build experience.
Yes, a matte coat is commonly used for finishing (can also somewhat hide minor scruffs from sanding). Mr Clear Flat coating is one of the most recommended brands, but any should work but make sure the brand doesn't use chemicals that can react to the model's plastic or paint (if used).
Terrible kit. It looks great once assembled, but the build experience is not pleasant. Although fully articulated, most of the articulation is rendered useless because parts keep popping off with the slightest of movement that you will just want to pose it standing up on the shelf and hardly touch it at all.

I literally just bought this model
Thank you because I was scared about the hands and arms

Did anyone have a part missing?? I’m missing part C-5 for the left arm and it’s really stressing me out.

Can you spray with top coat to protect the stickers?

I badly need this baby for some customs
This has quickly become my least favorite and most hated build.
