I just received my keylab essential 88 mk3
Nice Product
Lovely keys. For now, I am forced to use more portable models, but I hope that later I'll be able to switch to such a model. Count me in.
Portable models make totally sense especially when you travel. No need for change if it suits your needs ;) At the end of the day it's a MIDI controller not a synthesizer, so even smaller models are full of functions which you can utilise with your DAW. Good luck 🍀🤞

it is actually heaps lighter than the novation impulse keyboard, that i used to drag around to rehearsal spaces a few years ago- i really recommend this setup as well

What are you thoughts on the drum pads vs other controllers? I've heard some people hate them because they are too hard to push. It seems that's because they are made of high quality material. I was thinking about getting the minilab and the beatstep for a DJ set since the new minilab has faders and nobs. Are these good for clip launching? Thanks.
I have no idea. Im only a Keylab, so cannot comment on the others but I'm sure some ppl on this channel will advise you ;) As for pads - no, they are not too hard to push. I certainly don't experience that
hi, after recorded a clip, keylab does not automate the clip with knobs in realtime while playing the clip. i have to map knobs everytime to cope this. is there any way to fix this?
I'm not sure what you mean? When I record the clip in Ableton I first midi mapp my automation function (for example volume) to keylab knobs/sliders, then make sure you arm automation recording button in Ableton (top Tab)-start recording using knobs/sliders - job done automation is recorded.

Why don't these keyboards have a quantize function?
Because the quantization should happen inside the DAW not the MIDI controller (as it correctly does ;))
@@amagistudio wouldn't that be a pain if you're playing live? Why should it be in the daw? Is there a practical reason?
But this is a midi controller not a synthesizer, so in most cases you are using DAW when playing live anyway. But answering your question the whole idea of the playing with the expression on the keyboard contradicts the quantization procesd itself by definition. Quantization for me is more of a corrective tool not a musical one.
@@amagistudio I can see that. I own a novation launch key and it has a quantization function. But I was thinking of getting an arturia minilab because of how simple it is to use and the portability. I'm using it for live performances too. So I was nervous about not having a quantize function. But it seems they didn't add it for a reason.
Don't be nervous...live performance should be all about your expression. If your audience doesn't get that.. it means they will never get it... 😜😂 Good luck 🤞🍀
