I was a kid then. So I only got to watch these late late shows on Fridays and holiday breaks,as I had to wake up at 6:30 A.M to catch the bus.
Consider it a privilege you got to live in the turn of the 21-century early 2000s era in whatever age category you were at the time.
Same, and during the summer.
@@need2burnCraig final show
This show and opening C. Issak theme song takes me back to the early 2000's, me working the graveyard shift at a hotel, checking in sketchy guests at 1am and Kilborn's voice in the background on the lobby TV(pre HD). Simpler times for me, for us all I imagine.
Yeah TV sounded different in those pre-HD tube televisions.
Lol I did that job too (night shift at hotel) when I was about 22 years old. Lots of deep convos with strippers at 3am back then. I watched this show in 2001 or 2002 when I was an insomniac - good memories, miss the early 2000's
Superb talent that was very underrated! Excellent showman!
Man, I don't give a shit what you say. That show was GOOD. It was different, weird, classy, kooky. What a treat at 12:30am
He was definitely better than his brother, Craig Murderinfant.
@@jeremyc9593 Some episodes I reckon he was better than his dad too Craig Slaykid
Conan was a power house, so unfortunately this show went under the radar, pretty sad, this is really good... I wonder what Mr. Kilborn is doing now
You sir, are correct. I’m donning an ascot while enjoying this clip.
Being on at the same time as Conan O'Brien may be the reason he was overlooked Craig kilborn still built his own niche and followers that watched every night. Frankly Conan was light years ahead of anybody during this time no one on late night really came close to him during this time. If I remember it was a little after this that he was offered the tonight show one mouth after this to be exact. But Craig kilborn was a good host he got even more overlooked because of Craig Ferguson success just like being overlooked with Jon Stewart success. If he had stayed in either daily show or late late show he would've been on either one for much more years.
Started by recording all the shows on the VHS cassettes. Before I knew it the boxes were full of them. Absolutely loved the In The News segment and five questions! Impeccable taste in music Kilby! Loved when he was able to get Morrissey on the show. This and Talk Soup with John Henson were my fav. Hope you're doing well Craiggers...
Crazy to think this guy preceded Jon Stewart on The Daily Show AND Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show.
Miss this show. He was a character. So many original bits
Thanks for posting this, LEGEND 💯👍
Craig Kilborn left while the show was still going strong.
The most under rated show in late night
Or fergusons was. But we can agree, corbin blows
Ferguson’s was. This is hot garbage
@@grant5603 Both Kilborn and Ferguson. Corden is hot garbage.
@@joshpritt526sure is
Breaks my heart. Could’ve been the greatest late night host ever.
yea....that's why he was ended
You’re confusing him with Craig Ferguson
@@grant5603 nah fam, this guy was loads better.
@@need2burn nah.mam, this guy was ridiculous.
@@need2burn wrong ferguson destroys this hack
Thank you for posting this!
Miss these shows very much. I was in my late teens almost 20. Some great times for sure …🥹
I met Craig while he was in the Monterey market ... his first great TV skit was as "The World's Greatest Athlete" .... after that the sky was the limit. WHO wudda THUNK ?!? No matter where he landed, he wrote his own Ticket ! A terrific talent ...
th-cam.com/video/4S_0pVFZ14M/w-d-xo.html
Never watched him before. But I loved Craig Ferguson.
me too
Late Late Show didn't really become the Late Late Show until Craig Ferguson took over, then it went to shit after he left.
They're both great, in my humble opinion.
Tom Snyder ruled The Late Late Show. No one can come close
@Bruce S I agreed, he missed out big time.
we need the tanned, rested, and ready Lord Kilby to come back and rescue the country.
He doesn't look very tan these days.
@@danieldougan269 he has naturally good genetics, just needs an hour of sunlight to achieve bronzed god status.
Craig recently admitted that while he won't say he has any regrets about any part of his career, specifically leaving any shows... but he says out of all of them, leaving this show was probably the craziest thing to do in hindsight. Dude was on fire, Ferg never would have been given the chance and Kilby would've been known as the king of late late night.
He didnt want to do it anymore. He wanted to do other things in his life.
God I miss the “Good Ole’ Days” !
Craig was brilliant. The vibe of this show was dead on perfect for LA. It wasn't until later that I figured out he was playing a subtle version of Vince Vaughn from Swingers.
The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn is very trippy, to be honest.
Craigers flew too close to the sun. Him leaving the show was nearly as tragic to comedy as Phil Hartman’s murder and Greg Giraldo’s overdose. All I can do is shake my head at the senselessness of it all and the gaping wound that was left after his departure.
This show was GENIUS! Funny as hell!
The Killer was great!
People call him, "arrogant" but I don't think so.
I think he was just unapologetic for being handsome and talented.
There's a difference.
The People are offended if you are not humble (enough) and look like you are having a good time. The People like their celebrities miserable.
exactly. He's really just sort of spoofing himself a bit. No different than when Ric Flair was strutting around styling, profiling, wife-stealing, etc.
He was the best last Late Night host of all time with impeccable music taste. He is a huge Smiths and Morrissey fan.
Miss you IN FRONT of the camera, Craiggers!
I was bummed out when Craig left TLLS, and I thought it was a huge mistake…….Fast forward to the 2010’s, especially 2016, Craig made the right call. Maybe he saw what was on the horizon cause these late night guys are all propaganda tools of the establishment. I’m glad Craig didn’t get like that.
Craig Ferguson got out just in time before it got all crazy . Yep you're right
back when late late nite was great. make late late nite great again. come back Craig.
Kilborn was a one note hack. His replacement was infinitely better in every way.
@@jonrmartinCraig is so long
I remember that CBS’ commercials for the show consisted of just 3 words at the end of Dave’s promos: “Then catch Craig.”
the best late night show EVER, the best host you could ever get, the best atmosphere and vibe in ANY show.
it always felt like it was just a bunch of drunk friends fucking around late at night lol
amazing classic tv.
Clearly you tuned out before ferguson, the single greatest hist of all time, took over.
Oh my gosh, the nostalgia!
Really, Kilborn hasn't had much luck on TV - he started off as the host of _The Daily Show_ in its first two and-a-half years, then got "promoted" to network television on CBS' _The Late Late Show_ while then-correspondent Jon Stewart took over the _Daily Show_ hosting reins. About six years after stepping down from _The Late Late Show,_ Kilborn tried again with another talk show on Fox, but that failed to be picked up after a six week trial run. His only known TV appearance since was a cameo in Stewart's final _Daily Show_ episode, where Kilborn merely "insulted" Stewart for seizing the host spot.
At some point you make your own luck, good or bad. Rarely has a man been so well set up and done so little with it.
To me, Kilborn is probably one of the my favorite hosts ever. He just has like an over the top inflated cool factor.
Like, he's kind of a douchebag but he owns it. Like, I don't know why I like it.
I'm going to have him on my podcast this Sunday! The guy never does press so this is a pretty big deal. Check out the Nordeast Podcast next week to see what he's been up to.
So true
@@ComedyJakob The douchebag was a character he played but also not totally disconnected from his real personality.
It's like how Kevin Spacey portrayed all of these bad guys so convincingly and then turned out to be a bad person in real life.
King Kilby 🤴, I grew up with tv, entertained by all the great! Freedom and choice. I love the kilburn routine, I know why now!
The world still turns and burns. 🔥 you quit, my brother died. I quit tv.
Now it's just android ❤️,
Love your pod...
Ladies and Gentleman, Carefully, Mr. Craig Kilborn!
Interesting. Will Farrell was a guest on the last episodes of both the Kilbourn and Corden incarnations of the Late Late Show
Have you got the episode from 20th August. The week before?
5:41 There's something you won't see a Late Late Show host do for a while.
7:17 And there's something you won't hear one tell his viewers.
He was funny . I miss this show .
I was 2 when this aired August 27th, two months before I turned 3 on October 2nd, 2004.
It was a great show and its own unique thing.
The end of an era
I was sad when Craiggers left and was all set to hate Craig Ferguson, but... damn it if Ferguson wasn't absolutely brilliant as the new host. He won me over within the first few of weeks and I was soon glad that Kilborn was replaced. I only wish Ferguson was still doing late night as he was possibly the funniest natural adlibber I've seen on late night television.
Nah Ferguson was definitely the lesser of the 2 Craigs to lead the show.
@@a.grimes4202 You might be the only person on the planet who feels this way.
God damn i miss this show
The greatest opening ever!
Craig Kilborn, a class act.
That bottle is worth a hell of a lot more than 4k now.
I'm looking for the 3/15/2003 episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, featuring guests Fran Drescher; Neal McDonough; and Dana Glover. Anyone know where I can find it??
Like most talk shows Late Late with Craig Kilborn won't have an official release/syndication reruns for at least the next 50 years. Because of the complicated music licsening attached to most of the episodes.
Your going to have to search around (TH-cam, Dailymotion,Vimeo, Internet Archive) periodically in the hopes someone who recorded uploads somewhere.
He got out at the right time pre politics he was the last Carson
The only good thing about this final show was they cleared out making way for Craig Ferguson.
Yep. Ferguson hosted for almost 10 years while Kilborn only lasted 5.
@Bruce S Both did in the end. Still miss Ferg too....late night hasn't been same since he quit.
Considering the fact that Craig wouldn't host the show till January 2005.
It’s official “Craigs” are the best hosts in late-night television
Lol at the Armstrong cancer wrist bands. Forgot about those things, everyone had them
It was to 'raise awareness'. The beginnings of slacktivism.
A fascinating 41 minute exhibit that could be entitled "Career Suicide: The Final Act." Don't get me wrong - I loved this show. But unfortunately, Craig Kilborn was essentially a one-note song. He got the CBS gig against the wishes of David Letterman and Peter Lassally, didn't grow at all as a performer or host, and then made the mistake of demanding a pay raise and threatening to quit when he didn't get it. He thought if he announced he was quitting they'd cave and give him more money; and as soon as he announced they asked him how fast he could be out the door. Hopefully the millions he made doing this show hold out for him.
Thankfully his successor was Craig Ferguson
eh....If there's any constant in Kilborn's career....he didn't really care about longevity
He left ESPN when he was one of the most popular Sportscenter anchors there to do the original version of the Daily Show at Comedy Central.....left that to do the CBS show.....then he went back to a regular sports anchor gig for a while.....there was some talk of giving Kilborn another late night show somewhere a few years back....but that talk went nowhere. Seeing him in recent interviews, I don't think he really gave it all much thought....he's seemingly content and not really looking for another gig anytime soon.
Complete nonsense. Nothing you said is true.
i never knew until now. Craig Ferguson. the dance and five questions. Kilborn kicked all of that off. hmmmm.
Honestly, my high school crush...I had a thing for the tall, lanky ones.
I am short, balding and fat. Think we should give it a shot anyway?
Kilborn . a bada$$
I get that the a vain frat boy character was his schtick, but, based on what the people at Comedy Central said about him, it was less of an act than you might think.
it's so interesting Will Ferrell is always deployed to be over all these late night hosts final shows.
20 years ago today!
39:12 might be the best/worst moment in television history. damnit craig, we miss you so much bro!
Yeah great moment! He really was one of the best….
I never watched him before but I watched 5 episodes of him.
Does anyone know the name of the drinking music during the show and at the end? 1:27 5:50 39:44
To those who were curious the music is called one note samba
yes, one note samba, by antonio carlos jobim - this version was on the album "The Composer of Desafinado, Plays"
@@CthulhuIncof course it is
His parents look so young!
hahahhaha yes, yes they do
I found out a little awhile ago that CBS is shutting down the Late Late Show franchise after 28 years on April 27.
they still have not replaced him.
I think they did a pretty bang-up job with Ferguson, not the same, but definitely the same spirit
Such a great show. He didnt care about being PC. Awesome sarcasm.
He should have waited
him leaving made way for the best ever in late night. damn i miss fergs.
Craig is was a fucking genius legend! Cheers bro
"LET'S GO TO ITALY!" OMG! This guy is the siht!
I had no idea how bad Kilborn was when I watched him in first run. Going back over his show 20 + years later I can't believe I didn't realize how bad it was actually.
This was my favorite. I miss this show.
"Whats casting couch?"
He's pretty good. He may have flaws. I rather watch him than James Corden and Tom Snyder.
I liked Tom Snyder a lot
Why is he erasing the Craig part too just needed to take off Killborn.
This show was HILLLLLAAAAARRRRIIIIOOOOUUUSSSSSSS
What's with the bleep? One thing I liked about his show: no bleeps. Somehow I thought one was coming. I hate bleeps; I hate the trend. Maybe it was time for him to go. Networks, just mute the language!
I miss Craig Kilborn. The guy just took himself out of the game
His mom and dad are interesting. They are the same age as him. Hehe
Who played both?
I found a lot to like in his approach, though I was always a little put-off by his arrogance. That said, I didn't want him to leave. That time spot is tricky. After Letterman/Kilborn, the only one I watch since is Seth Meyers.
Boring
The only one I watch is Conan
Kurt Johnson I agreed.
I agree. I only watched Seth Myers daily since Craig left and Conan as well of course
Will Ferrell should have said something about "Scotchy scotch scotch."
The first line with Clint Eastwood kills me everytime.
Omg Josh Homme lol
12:11 Tough to Make CLINT EASTWOOD laugh!
miss Cup O Craiggers!
Watch out for the floods in beaver county
Dude his mom was a fox
You know that's a joke. She's the same age as him
So many bits - surprising from the "intellectual" of TV hosts. One always got the sense this guy thought he was smarter than the shows he hosted. Well, Jon Stewart, Conan O'Brien, and Craig Ferguson were pretty smart too without making such a point of it. I wonder if this guy says to himself, "Yeah, I set up Stewart and Ferguson for success"
Norm macdonald should of had this show in the 1990s he would have been great,
Starting at 11:20 LOL!
27:52 - 17 years later the TWolves haven't won a championship
The Miracle chair non-sense may have ended any chance of coming back
never heard of nikki serring before. wonder if he married her.
In the words of Carson/Letterman/Ferguson producer Peter Lassally, who only agreed to consult on this show after Kilborn was forced on him, Kilborn's talent was looking comfortable on TV. Other than that, he was limited. Unlike Carson/Letterman/Ferguson, Kilborn didn't read, wasn't informed or well-rounded. He left because he wanted more money, and was never heard from again.
idk about Ferguson, but Johnny and likely Dave too were hardly big 'readers' or intellectual giants. Craig never shoved any politics down anyone's throat, and that was the direction late night was heading. He took care of his money and never seemed to have any issues with any of it. He was not 'cast out'.
Sounds like your personal confession.
Dude ,your fucking funny 🤣
Kilborn sucked. And when i say sucked, maybe he didnt. Not a lot of experience with him. Based on this show, he sucked. I say this because craig ferguson, on his WORST day, is still ten times funnier than kilborn on his best.
Kilborn couldn't have left this show soon enough. Ferguson was so much better.
August 27, 2004
Anyone ever notice that each run of every show he's done was short and every show he departed suddenly became more popular after he left while his replacements stayed around longer than he did? That should tell us something. Kilborn's overrated.
Talent burns bright, and fast. Always exit when they're asking "why don't you stay", rather than "why did you stay so long?"
TvTropes calls him the "Pete Best" of the Daily Show and The Late Late Show
