Even the previous gen c43 wasn’t that good of a car let alone this new crap, my uncle had 2017 coupe and the interior was rattling more than than a 1993 dodge

@@raiiiar now that's mind boggling that they have an audacity to charge 120k for a car that is rattling inside...I wont mention that idiotic trend with fake exhausts. I get it on cheaper cars, I dont on cars like MB or Audi, especially E, S classe and A6, A8 Audis.

except some of his facts are wrong. The sound pumped into the cabin is not fake, it's sound from the engine bay and exhaust that is amplified with a microphone and pushed into the speakers. Its not software sound like BMW etc.

The M4/M3 are still good cars, but the C63/E63 cant hold up with the M3/M4/M5, atleast in my opinion. But we'll see how the new 5 will turn out.. this typical prestige of german car manufactures just isnt as good as it used to be... sadly. Only exception I would take is Porsche :D
@@fractalnature9412 I mean if you draw the line, the only things BMW is failing at right now is design and steering feel. Of course older cars are more charming, but that's got more to do with emission and noise regs than anything else.
@@xIcarus227 Bmw has still got the same dashboard from 2007 but dropped a big Ipad on it and some new buttons...... Even the exteriour isnt very charming except the 5 series. They sounds awful.
In my opinion Mercedes looks much better but i like a big sedan look. The interiour in the new Mercedes even a basic A-class is levels above every manufacturer.

They should have improved the older V6 engine.
If they gave the v8 4matic plus it would be the same as the hybrid 4 cyl
"Better" is subjective. I don't think hybrids are quite there yet, but we'll see. V8s are great for so many reasons, but they have no place in the future. They'll remain a thing from the past whilst newer technologies continue to improve. I'd love to see what an uncompromised pure electric AMG C or E wagon would be, designed from the ground upwards.

Also when the tiny battery runs out you're left with only the petrol engine hauling all that dead weight and also recharging the battery, meaning shit performance without the electric motors. Whereas in a normal petrol car you don't have that problem, all the power all the time.

They sell so much because they didn’t go on that down size trend and did. in my opinion everything right except e cars. Merc did the wrong way in 2016 it was the modern way to have a hybrid performance but the time changes in bmw direction.

Taking away the V8 from an AMG is like taking away the action from an action movie. Who cares if it’s faster? How many of us will go and set the Guinness land speed record? We want the rumble, the sound, the feel of those downshifts which only come with a combustion engine. The AMG is over. Now it’s just a badge for soccer moms and mall crawling dads to flex out in the street and in their suburbs. Sadly that’s the majority of car buyers these days.
The vintage AMG market will continue to exist. The point is that there will be no future V8 AMGs. I'm fairly fine with that as long as AMG take on the electric paradigm and find a way to make it exciting and vicious. Not tame and badge-y like what you suggest. It'll be a test for them, that's for sure. Of course I'll miss the silly V8s appearing, but I do want them to make electric exciting. Porsche feel like they're evolving in the right direction with that, but even then they feel almost civilised.
They're only faster in a straight line.

@@TristanJCumpole No matter how exciting you try and make an electric car, there's only so much you can do. A lot of newer drivers think excitement comes from acceleration and speed but I think most of us enthusiasts would agree nothing is more satisfying than nailing a corner's entry and exit while trail braking and rev matching downshifts. It's difficult, takes time to get right but it feels SOOOO satisfying when you get all the parts down. Imagine trying to drift/correct snap oversteer with an electric car that weighs as much as a house. RIP tyres.

This car feels like a pice of consumer electronics, rather than a sports car: You enjoy the software gimmicks and flashy interior for the length of a lease and then you move on and forget about it. Just like a phone.
Your take is spot on. I hate that cars are turning into rolling software with screens everywhere and useless gimmicks that will be outdated in 4 years.

Not to say I don't get your concern, cars are indeed becoming appliances on wheels, but as long as your phone can function as the brain of the infotainment system it won't really become outdated.

@@rahyan. surprisingly not. It’s not lightning fast, but it has a lot of torc (320 Nm) and they got out of the engine what’s in it. Tuning it doesn’t give much more power. Up to 160 km/h it moves fast enough to be able to manoeuvre in traffic. And my previous car was a Skoda Octavia RS that had 230hp, so I know what a quick car feels like.

Cars get faster and more efficient, but the experience is getting duller by every new model.
Like electric cars, they can be fast, but the overall experience is always the same. No soul.
The new C43 is no faster than the old one and uses no less fuel.

recently bought the v6 c43 and I kind of little bit thought sometimes that its not a real amg but considering the fact that it might be the last v6 amg ever, makes it a real amg

I just took delivery of a 2023 C43 Coupe (c205), and I couldn't agree more about the build quality now a days at Mercedes. They had like what 8 years to refine the w205, but nope. 1200KM in, already off to the dealership due to rattle and noise coming from the transmission tunnel. The dealership experience was fantastic tho, they took care of everything. But still, for that kind of money, you can get way better built cars even from a less luxury brand e,g. Mazda, albiet the V6 in the w205 is quite lovely and I really like all the characters and sounds it makes. Apart from the build quality (which is a big one tbh), amazing car.
Bye bye AMG. No reason to pay extra for AMG badge when proper engine is not present...
These new AMG cars aren't made for the real enthusiasts, that's for damn sure. Max said it in the video. There's just way too much fluff and fakery. And for a car like this which is of course very expensive, I mean it's an AMG after all albeit a small one, you would expect better build quality 🤷🏻♂️. Bold claim from me here, but I think the G80 M3 is gonna take it in the long run.

Long-time subscriber, and I always enjoy watching all your videos - but a little advice with the photography. If you're going to spend some time talking about the looks of the car, can I respectfully suggest that you use a longer focal length lens and stand further back. I personally think the new C-Class sedan is gorgeous. However, the boosted-four formula is done far better in the A/CLA class----I could forgive the C43 if the C53 had an I6, but until it does, CLA 35 for me.
It's so sad this happened to mercedes. I will definitely not be buying one of those, I prefer the old C43 amg. And all that falekery....
Mercedes could have used this 4 cylinders for the 43 AMG and keep the straight 6 that the E53 uses for the C63 and add the electric motors, just saying.
They could have kept the v8 for this gen apparently.
St8 6 though even "electrified" would have been more fitting for both C43 and 63
They could've even kept the V8, their department head admitted as much. He said they could've fit the V8 in and still comply with emission regs. Insane decision from AMG.

Although the spring rate is low, in the UK, this might pay off from the really uneven roads when just driving at more normal speeds

Cars get bigger over time and I can't figure out for the life of me why this is happening. Like if I want a fucking Golf, I'll buy a fucking Golf - stop making that fucking Polo so fat, it's almost the same weight/size as the Golf now.
Not that I'd buy either of these boring cars I mentioned, but it's the first example that crossed my mind.

I drove the new C43 estate the other day and found it to be disapointing. Tbh just felt like a quick C300. Emotionless, Rough engine and just no comparison to the S4 Avant or M340i. Topped off with the new C63 estate being pretty much useless due to that massive hump in the boot floor. At least the E63 is getting the Straight 6 from the E53 but if they do the same thing with the bootspace... I'm done with Mercedes! Unforgiveable having an estate that cant fit a dog crate!
Interior and looks is by far miles ahead of the m340i. That car looks like a rental car interior.

Great video! I am actually considering one of these vs the G70 and the M340i. Here in the US, it’s much easier to get a good discount on one of these vs the BMW for obvious reasons lol. Coming from a 2019 Volvo, this thing felt properly quick and not like a 4 cylinder. AMG did a decent job of masking some of this cars deficiencies. Not sure if you’ve driven or heard a US spec of one of these cars, but ours are a tad louder and have more pops on shifts on the outside of the vehicle. Still no B58 but the non-US spec of these vehicles does seem to leave a lot to be desired. The ride is good in comfort mode but the transmission can be jerky at low speeds…wonder if that’ll ever get refined. Now I have to drive an M340i next! Loved the sense of occasion behind that new AMG steering wheel but I can see how this vehicle isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Maybe it’s mine since I’m coming from a much lower level of vehicle performance but we’ll see. I loved the G70 but the interior feels so badly outdated! Which is a shame.

I love how entitled Mercedes feels that they don’t think they should listen to their consumers. They have a mindset that their always right and know what’s best when in reality the customer is what drives the business. Mercedes is filled with a bunch of Starbucks latte drinkers instead of hardcore enthusiasts these days.

I wanted to buy a c43 2023 estate but after all those bad reviews about the car . I was really disappointed since I had a c43 estate 2016 model , which was amazing and sounded great with that v6 . So I bought a cla45s shooting brake . Which sounds way better and looks super great as well . I have absolutely no understanding how they can make a c class worse than a a class . At least make the v4 as good as possible.

Why not use the a45s setup? Even those heat soaked terribly I can’t imagine this….
I feel AMG made the suspension “softer” and “weird” due to a high number of people/reviewers complaining about it being to stiff in the past ….this has been the case since the original p31 package era C63(2012) .. they need to bring back the stiffness because that ultimately translates to better handling and feel in these heavier nature of the Mercs.. I’m an AMG owner
I think the auto shift times can be compared to those of the 5g tronic in the w203 and w211 cars😂

I don’t *completely* mind that it’s a 4-cylinder, but I think they should’ve upped the displacement a bit. A 2.2 or a 2.4 would’ve been much better suited to this car
There is a reason why most companies won't go over 2l displacement in 4 cyl engines - taxes.
That launch control is RIDICULOUS LOL. It's actually way better in my a45 w176.
Just replace the springs with eibach pro's and it will drive with more comfort and at the same time handle better.
It's a real shame that one of the best car makers {AMG} on the planet are going this way.. as a lot of people have said take away the V8 it's no longer a AMG..

I had an AMG for days, gave the keys back. Noisy, uncomfortable, rear lights taking in water, had the infamous middle inside the dash rattle, and the stupid 9 speed gearbox didn't know what it was doing under normal driving conditions.
Damn, AMG is literally sinking.

tbh, i understand why they do it but at this point if the amg will sound like a 4 cilinder, i would just go with a diesel... top spec diesel. I will be more reliable, it will have more torque and will probably cost much less.
Awesome review! You can really see that something is wrong with ///AMG when the Max's most exciting part of the car is the 'click' sound of an airvent.
Sad to see the direction that Mercedes and ///AMG are taking... They only think about increase sales, thats it... This stuff is for the flex masses not for the petrolheads... and that is the sad part.
Petrolhaeads will never buy this crap, and masses will never buy V8 ///AMGs.
I think that the downshift at 19:29 was not that bad, but I agree about everything else. I liked the V6 and its raspy sound... 😥
That downshift isn't any faster than any random automatic gearbox from last 20-30 years..

The 4 cylinder amg engine does work as a replacement for the V6 in the C43 but I hope mercedes-benz quickly learn (especially from BMW) that making a C63 4 cylinder is a mistake. Yes its a powerful engine but the main characteristic of a C63 is the brutal sound it makes. And this 4 pot turbo doesnt have anything close to what the W205 has. I am so glad BMW still puts its glorious B58 and S58 6 cylinder motors in its cars.
