Especially 1985 (with the rise of NES) and 1991 (with first 3d attempts), crazy years.. And of course, so many amazing games between these years :) Next incredible year, I would say was 1996 (Duke 3d, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot and so on)... Can't wait to get there :D
To me this era is when Video Gaming finally matured, and so began the iconic game series we all know like Gradius. Commando, Ghost and Goblins, Space Harrier, Gauntlet... Super Mario.... yes wow what a time to be a gamer. These are real historical gaming treasures afaic.
I agree! No matter how much I loved Atari 2600, we needed at least 8 bits, multiple play screens, and at least some basic background story in games.. By 1985, it all became possible :) Space Harrier was like an alien technology back then, I mean 16-bit and pseudo 3-d, that was insane :)
Until recently, I didn't know Gradius was an arcade game. I'm amazed at how good of a port the NES version was! Faithful sound and graphics. Especially considering many other ports of that time frame... They knocked out of the park!
The birth of the Nes happens in 1985! While I was always a Sega diehard I have to give credit where it's due. I missed this year as gaming wasn't on my horizon yet...only one more year to go. Oh man did I love Space Harrier. "Welcome to the Fantasy Zone!" Addendum- I started gaming back in 1986 with the Nes and Master System.
I think NES changed the gaming like no other console before or after - Closest thing in terms of innovations and taking gaming to a next level was Playstation 1, which also blew me away when it arrived! However, I still like Sega Genesis a lot - which I place second in greatest consoles of all time list, just below PS1 :)
I remember it was in early 2000 when my brother had first computer that biggy IBM ones. I remember playing this PC games with a thing with mushroom cap that gone all over his body through the back, I think it was purplish pink with some white dot... That character which I forgot. Then we got to solve levels and avoid the blooming lotus that might swallow it, so we have to give the mushroom top thing some bait so then we can cross the pathway. Anyone know what's this game is? I can't remember it
Alguien recuerda como se llama un juego que se parece al Terra cresta que es de un robot que lanza los puños y se des ensamblaba en 3 naves ? Tengo años de buscarlo no recuerdo el nombre gracias
TRULY the golden age of video games, so many memories!
Mhmhh :P Nostalgia!
1984-1991 were the peak.
Every system had tons of creative releases, entire genres were born, the progress was amazing.
