Amazing how a SINGLE DUDE can make a better show than a multi million dollar corporation with 50 out of touch executives making decisions based on their worldview. A guy has the most relatable wordview when he does it himself
Derek, revisiting some of your earlier vids. It's amazing how you've evolved through all the episodes, yet you are the same man! I'm truly a die hard fan of your channel. I just bought my dream project truck, a 66 C10, and will be utilizing a ton of knowledge that you've imparted. You're making a difference and are very much appreciated.
Hey Derek, I just purchased a 1972 Monte Carlo Custom. Original owner, numbers matching, fully documented car. Hadn't ran in 33 years. Got it home and did the Vice Grip magic on it. Fired up after twice priming and runs like a champ. Thanks for all the videos, they are super helpful and very entertaining.
I dub thee "The Apocaplypse Mechanic!" It's hilarious how you find these vehicles (great also how you involve your kids and teach them the value of doing 'hard things')and put yourself into these situations but then always find a way out and get back home with a real gem. People take for granted how to fix old cars and trucks and when the "Big One " hits you'll be the only guy driving down the road. Incredible how you breathe new life into these long-forgotten vehicles. Rust and all. Makes ' a guy' want to start a project of his own. LOL Thank you and keep it up!
I can watch your videos for hours man I really enjoy the fact you don’t use real high end expensive dohickkie removal tools just the basic buckle busters. Really good sense of humor that actually makes it fun to watch. At the same time your one of the best mechanics I ever did see that’s the gods honest truth.
My family came from Minnesota/Wisconsin. I get the weather issue. Watching you work over these old rigs reminds me of my dad and grandpa working on these old trucks and tractors, keeping them running because there was no money to take it to a shop. Thanks for this channel! Old iron is the best iron. Derek.
My Dad had a white C10 short bed stepside when I was a kid. Had that same bronze interior, too. Straight six with a four speed trans. 1st was a granny gear. Only ever used it when carrying or pulling heavy loads, so normal takeoff was in 2nd gear. Engine was running bad when he first bought it. We pulled out the engine only to find that the problem was number six. She had a broken pushrod and the rocker had slipped off to one side, wearing a hole in the back of the valve cover. It was at the very back of the valve train, can't remember whether it was exhaust or intake valve, probably exhaust. He did the right thing, didn't check anything else, put in a new pushrod and rocker, and got a different valve cover from a junk yard (being there was no JB Weld back then) and we dropped her back in. She ran like that until Dad sold her.

I have to admit, I was a little surprised and impressed to see you using a pickle fork and not just just taking the murder weapon straight to the knuckle.. Good on ya!
I have found the easiest way to lower a vehicle is as follows. Tape a stick to the fender pointing down with the end above the ground at the distance you want to lower the vehicle. Turn on a hose pipe with a trigger spray outlet. Heat the spring in one spot with oxy-acetylene until the spring starts to sag. As the stick touches the ground quickly spray the spring with cold water. This stops the lowering and re-tempers the steel at the same time. Make sure you are wearing safety gear as you don't want scalding steam and water in your face and eyes. Should not take more than 5 minutes a corner. I am joking but I have seen this done, LOL. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your humour.
Man, the suspense from when you saw what was wrong out back till you showed it... I just laughed out loud for real... One of those "Well, there's ur problem right there" moments!

I also live in a cold area and here is something I do in the winter when I'm working in a shop with no heat and no insulation. I built 4 walks with of coarse a door opening in one. I have them built where they can be put together and you just slide a bolt in and you have a area that is easy to warm up. Of course you have the inside insulated with what ever your poison is. Put a tarp over the top and a salamander or whatever way you want to generate heat. And you don't freeze.when your done, take it apart put it in a corner out of the way and that's that. It works great and you think to yourself, WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS YEARS AGO! Or you can take acorner of the garage and only throw up two walls and something over the top.
Great that you'er puttin some love on that awesome little pickup ...worth all the time and money. She's gonna make you an awesome daily driver for sure...ENJOY!!!

If you haven't already, grab a 1 1/4" front sway bar off a late 70s-80s 1 - Ton Suburban. You'll need the brackets too. I put one on my worn-out 67 C10, along with a rear bar, and can now actually keep up with traffic on freeway on-r ramps and curves. Huge improvement for relatively little cash outlay.

I have to admit, I was a little surprised and impressed to see you using a pickle fork and not just just taking the murder weapon straight to the knuckle.. Good on ya!
Most likely the only tool I use properly. That old chuck norris has been with me for years
Just love it! Especially your delicate touch. Already looking forward to the next one. 🤘😎
Right on - thanks for watching bud
Best way to star an episode 😂😂. I know this in an old episode but Derek please don’t ever stop. This is by my favorite TH-cam content
Another great vid, truck looks good!
Thank you kindly!
Like the videos just found your channel. Great humor keep up the good work
Thanks for watching & commenting! Hope I win your sub 🤘
Man, the suspense from when you saw what was wrong out back till you showed it... I just laughed out loud for real...
One of those "Well, there's ur problem right there" moments!
I’m waitin! Got some good ol’e American on standby..Aka Kentucky’s Finest!
Nice!!
That liquid they make down there in Kentucky is quite good to drink, it'll warm your innards.
Not stopping the grinding process while taking a drink was the best part of the video. Totally explains the warning at the beginning. You have my subscription.
Old trucks are always hiding a little extra "fun" for a guy.

I really dig what you are doing with this channel. You strike me as a cross between Tim Allen, Red Green and me. That's a scary and wonderful combination!

I'm a bit late to the party but I really enjoy your irreverent treatment of these old cars but what really made me laugh was the antics with cramping up and having to get out to straiten out and I thought it only happened to me thank you soooo much.
Loweringrn it's fine just remember to jack it up come winter time ask Peg to send you a pair tire chains or at least carry a 2 x 4 in ratchet strap
Good dude! Dad and Grandpa brought this good old boy up right. The heart of America.
OK, lets see...off work at 3:30...drive home...grab adult beverage, pork rinds and red vines...flip on the ol' interwebs and settle in for another intellectually stimulating installment of VGG. Perfect!
Sounds like a great night - talk to you soon bud!

Lived in St. Cloud area for 30 years and remember every time my car broke down in the winter, and only in the winter mind you, and how much ice I breathed in working in my dad's driveway.....great times..your videos are hilarious thanks for making those memories come back...
i live in the Northeast, and my cooling system always failed in the winter because we all know how fun it is to lay in a puddle of coolant when it is freezing with ice and snow on the car
I've meet my other me, Ok well twenty some odd light years younger. As I too, have the bassakards way of tellin it how it be. Glad to see clearly, I'm now officially not the only abbienormal one on the planet, as I for many years, better add few more in there..
As my Ma says,"from conception, I've been a PIA", cause I will go outta my way to do everythang, that I'm told I can't make work, work!
BTW, for all that say your not normal, thus makin you abbienormal, refer those unknowing Knowitall's to, the definition of, "Normal!", and watch them suddenly understand.
Which BTW, has never happened to date as far back as I can remember, because being Knowitalls they can't grasp the truth before their bloodshot eyes.
Not even when Ole Mr. Webster, takes a big bite outta both their cheeks, and spits em at their little piggies.. Nope, those that know, know, and those that think they know, can do the homework. Ya know!
I say, crusty beauty rings, and the faded center caps, be perfect balance of chrome, gone faded and crusty, matches Her natural beauty marks just fine.
This has been a broadcast from local broadcast affiliates, as a service advisory, from lands far far to the south. Well not that far south, because it's actully northeast Tejas, the only country that can be a state too.
See, and not nary, a four lettered verb, adjustive, are pronoun utter once. My Ma be proud, but she ain't gonna believe it. LMFAO, and C/10 purdy for ole gurl, but dem ole gurls, gotta have rings to put a sparkle in em eye's!
Derek you are a pleasure to watch. I know that you hear that all the time. I wish that I could have seen you when you and your family came to Tucson, Az recently for Duct Tape Drags. A real bummer that we missed you. Any idea when you might be coming back my way? Really really want to meet you. Thank you so very much for all the awesome videos and please don't change a thing. You are awesome!
Bro loved the zip n zaps.. u keep me rolling.. do u got an address I can send some love ur way? In box me
yessir! She's down in the description box of digikals. Email me so I can thank ya!
That's what I would do if it was me, wouldn't change a thing,. Lol
She's gonna make you an awesome daily driver for sure...ENJOY!!!
thanks
Like you I also really like the little tang grinder sparks adds to my Pepsi. It also helps wash down the grit you get in your mouth from the underside of a truck.
Guys gotta have some wind pipe cleaner around
Very good job young man all I can say is I am glad it is you instead of me because I would still be laying on the floor trying to get my back to stop hurting hahahahaha
I love the genuine rustic center console and cup/koozie was a really nice added touch, your awesome sir.
I'm a shade tree mechanic with a 63 Buick Wildcat. I always learn something from watching your videos. Great information and good humor. How in the world did you think that could work!
I just recently found your videos and I've been going back and watching every one of them from the beginning from your first video and I just love the way you do things reminds me of me and you got a great personality don't ever change keep up the great work and God bless you and your family
Wow, Jessica must really love you a whole, whole lot!. I know you're pretty frugaliscious when it comes to auto-mechanical stuff, but still! We learn a whole, whole, whole lot from you on how the cheap stuff will get the job done! Thank Jessica from the bottom of our hearts for letting you live! :)
I mean letting him live!
The cramp, keeping your eyes and mouth open while working under old cars! Hilarious cause we have all been there! Good stuff from a Alabama Mopar guy!
Hey Dusty! Thanks for watching! Someday I hope to afford a mopar
No one can “afford” a mopar!
I learned to drive on my grandfather's '63 Chevy "stepside" (as we called it) 3 on the tree 6 cyl. I have wanted a '63-'66 Chevy P.U. for years! It just brings back so many good memories. Thanks for this awesome channel, Derek!
Hello my friend i really enjoy watching your videos you remind me of my grandpa he loved working on cars and trucks some day i would like to meet you my friend your buddy ben Brown frome Cincinnati Ohio
Here from November 2021 - You have come a long way Derek, now I understand the move to sunnier climes!
Great advice thank you
Very nice c10 Derak love it and great job lowering it i like
Deaak give er the old 119 dollar paint with white and a red stripe and your Dads logo sticker on er shed look sharp love the truck
8:30 As a fellow rusted Minnesnowtan, I felt that...worst part is, I moved to Texas, and then came back. Still trying to figure that one out...
I wish I had Dad's old 65 now. That lowering kit looks really sharp. Thanks Derek I'm lovin this channel and the old boxes you're fixing on.
Makes a guy think he might need an old Beaumont, Olds 442 or maybe a pick-up. Two Thumbs Way Up!
Love that truck! I don't know if you can tell but I've binged every episode lately and it just plays in the background of the shop! Building my sons c10 it makes me feel less annoyed by certain aspects! Thanks Derek!!
My dad used to have a 1965 GMC it was our only form of transportation for years. He just put a camper shell on the back of it we rode back there.
Again, I really like your "Don't Tread On Me" flag hanging on the VGG wall. Enjoy your channel & have actually learned a thing or two. Thanks for your time.
