Addressing Barriers to Coastal Resilience: Stakeholder Engagement on Nature-Based Solutions

With the increasing frequency and severity of coastal hazards across the country,
the need for innovative resilience infrastructure continues to grow along the coast.
Nature-based solutions are becoming a preferred option due to their ability to
increase the resilience of both human and wildlife communities. A multi-
organizational planning effort provided a pathway towards a long-term, sustainable
future for a South Carolina barrier island community. This presentation provides
insight on the collaborative work with stakeholders, future directions based on what
was learned, and lessons learned over the course of these efforts.
