    I would have put antiseize on the crankshaft making it easier for the next person to take off.

      Yes, I was going to but I was out of anti-seize.

    Nice Swap.. Possibly modify a child's swing set (metal A frame style) to be used with a chain hoist. Narrowed to 1/ 2 width it would take the burden off Ur back for Engine RnR work. Adding 2 fixed and two steerable wheel assemblies from scrap garden tractors would turn the modified swing set into a mobile gantry. Many sets are available for giveaway in online trading sites. Take care and thanks for sharing👍.

      @@SmallEngineDIY I got it completed the next day and it's been working great ever since! 3 days later I was at Home Depot and saw the same exact model mower for $2150. I got my broken one for $200. That's a win!

    Good job with the engine swap but you forgot to use anti seize on that crankshaft. NEVER forget to use anti seize on everything. 😊👍🏿✌🏿

      I wanted to use some, but I was out. Bummer.

      @@SmallEngineDIY That is no excuse. With as many small engines that you work on, you should NEVER ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever run out of anti seize. 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️ Don't forget about the next guy who is going to work on that tractor. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤷🏿‍♂️✌🏿

    I have a 40 inch cut Murry. It had a 12.5 Briggs. It was very low on power. I adjusted the valves and it ran great, for about 30 minutes, then it started blowing oil out took the engine apart, the top compression ring broke in 3 places. I installed a Kohler Pro V twin 25 horsepower. It wasn't real difficult, but going from the Briggs, 1 inch crankshaft to the Kohler 1 1/8 inch was a pain. I thought easy just get a 1 1/8 inch pulley for the mower deck. Not so easy. I took an old PTO clutch apart, and used the lower part. I welded the top pulley from the Kohler to the lower part from the old PTO then cut the deck pulley off the 1 inch shaft and welded it to the lower piece from the PTO. works great. The lower runs true both side to side and it doesn't wobble up and down either. That was the hardest part.

    as for that craftsman id say tear it down for parts cause theres still the rims, cast iron front axle, rear trans, wiring harness, pulleys, springs, and then scrap everything else

    Im swapping a 19HP Briggs motor out on my riding mower. The new one has a fuel pump and the old one was gravity fed. Can I just bypass the fuel pump and stay with the gravity system? I've never had a fuel problem with the gravity system.

    Nice video, thank you. Any suggestions on how to loosen the engine pulley if you do not have an impact wrench? Thank you.

    • @SmallEngineDIY
      @SmallEngineDIY  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use a socket wrench, but you will need to keep the engine from rotating. Use a crowbar or something to keep the flywheel from moving, just don't break the fins.

    I've got a 15.5 hp Troy Bilt Pony riding mower and my nextdoor neighbor gave me a 17.5 hp Troy Bilt Pony mower for parts as the rear drive axle assembly is locked up,but the other parts on it are good.Do you know if the cooling fan is identical between these two mowers as mine just broke into 20 pieces?? Since it's a slightly newer mower than mine by about 2-3 years,I was considering pulling it's 17.5 hp engine and installing it into my 15.5 hp mower,but just for now I was gonna use the fan and swap the engine into my mower later down the road if the one in it now gives up.Thanks to anyone who can help.

    The valve seat has either came out of the head and jammed the valve easy fix just pull the valve and put the seat back in and punch around the valve seat or your rockers are to lose causing the no compression issue

    Is 19.5 the same as 17.5 single cylinder ?

      Both are one cylinder engines if that's what you want to know !
