Had a chance of the lifetime to sing with Gary on my 21st birthday in Jersey. Atomic Dog was the song. I'm 41 now and besides the birth of my children nothing beats that.
I wish I had a time machine...a gem like this one makes me sad about today's music scene...u dont see stuff like this today...this is a REAL music show, hell yeaaah!!
I’ve been Funkin since the days of the Funkapuss and from 78-81 they Dominated music with several bands with in the group and several record I always wondered how George kept it all together PEEIN on the 🌏
I love the guitar lick on this song!! It really makes the song!! And the outfit george is wearing classic pfunk!! These were the best shows ever!! They were just so damm fun!! Needed glenn on this one!! I miss him no doubt!
Oh fasho thats why I’m BACK 😂 I’m tryin to get on the Mothaship and get on out of here this world a hot mess I feel like an alien…but can’t forget the Bop Gun tho so I’m here 🤣😭🔊🎶🎶🎸💃🏽🛸🔫🖖🏽🤘🏽💯🙏🏽🌎💓
Sadly its a lot of negative rituals with music goin around lately like that 2023 Grammy stuff with CBS tweeting “We’re ready to worship” and Sam Smith performing that demonic lookin song Unholy havin the audience wear devil horns and it was held on a full moon which was intentional so it more blatantly obvious they doin rituals with music smh 😩🤦🏽♀️🙏🏽 And yea I know Parliament may seem kinda out there on the surface 😂 But listening to the lyrics its a call out for divine protection and its like they infusing it into they music for GOOD purposes tho. So I guess “rituals” been in music for awhile but yea its ironic I saw that Grammy stuff and end up listening to Parliament today afterwards and made this connection. Its like Parliament wanting us to have fun but also sayin hey listen to this Funk music to feel good and for protection from all the BS. So if imma intentionally listen to any “ritual” regular music it would be something like this to protect me they meetin people where they at cause alot not in the church or not listenin to gospel music…I like it 😌😊 Even that “Swing Down Sweet Chariot” relates to that oldschool gospel hymn talkin bout “Swing low..sweet chariot…comin for to carry me homeee” and when he sang it live it was gospel music like he was in the zone almost like callin out to Christ to come back aye beam us up on the Mothaship pleaseee 😩🤦🏽♀️😂 Aw yea they DEFINITELY tryin to slick give analogies and infuse some God energy in their music in a fun way I get it clearly now even tho I’m sure they were judged by how they looked plus doin “secular” music but I get it 💯 Bless them for this 🙏🏽💓
@@oholm09 Maybe partially. But I also believe music videos played a part. It's not enough for a person to just play some terrific instrumentals now they have to put on a show too. In this video, those cats are PLAYING. Clinton and them play games on stage but the music is solid as a rock.
I was there also I may have passed the J to you No one sat down I wish they would have had shots of the crowd It's amazing how the band and the crowd was in sync with each other
I like when George is directing traffic. For example at the 3:00 miniute mark he tells Mike Hampton to lay off for aminute so he can hear them say it. You can hear the rythm guitar immediately stop playing. Eventually Mike finds his way back into the rythm. It would be nice to see the additional footage of this song posted it has Mike inprovising at George's request. George calls on Mike a lot in his live performances during the heyday 70's. Mike is a great lead and rythm guitar player.
May 19th Saturday 1979 Los Angeles Funk festival. Bop Gun the Parliament theme Song!!! Look Here !!! you had to be there ! Un Guard defend yourself ! were you get your funk from! Endangered Species.
Man the drummer on this song is Nate Jones, not sure when he left the group, never heard his name mentioned until George says GIMME THAT FOOT NATE! 2:40
Okkk now THIS some Beam Me Up Scotty original funky shii forREAL! The way this world is I’m tryin to go too gimme dat Bop Gun and get on the Muthaship let’s gooo! 😂 Love it! 🎶🎸🔥🛸🔫🖖🏽🤘🏽😎💯
I found out that it’s Tyrone on drums snd Boogie’s on bass actually. Idk why Ty is wearing Boogie’s signature antlers but they would switch costumes sometimes lol
SKEET PLAYED THE BASS HERE AND ON THE ALBUM. BOOGIE GOT ON THE DRUMS ON THIS! DONT U SEE TALL ASS BIGFOOT COME OUT THERE STEPPIN WIT THAT COWBELL AND SINGIN!
bootsy plays in the bop gun studio track skeet did not play in the funkentelechy vs placebo syndrome album bootsy plays bass on every track except plaxebo syndrome that was Billy Nelson and flashlight where that was Bernie on synthetic bass
That’s actually Boogie on bass on this performance. He’s wore sunglasses on this tour. It’s more than likely Tyrone Lampkin on drums on this performance. I don’t know why he’s wearing Boog’s signature antlers though lol. And it’s not Bigfoot because he’s with the background singers.
mothership and dr funkenstien and rumpofstilskin set the stage 4 the funk when the mothership landed everyone was stunned ,dr funkenstein bought them back to life rumpofstilskin turned them out
@SunnyLee83 Well to be fair, you didn't really see stuff like this back then either. This was far from mainstream. At the time of this performance most people were listening to Rush, Barry Manilow and Bee Gees.
I love Jerome's style. I have played drums for over 50 years and I use a lot of his Latin based fills and also his most iconic/ signature Tear The Roof Off intro snare drum lick. I incorporate a lot that into my playing. He is the #1 P- Funk drummer in my book. Dennis had the hands speed but Bigfoot had that "Thump"!
I feel like this one of the slept on Parliament grooves. That lead guitar and bass are second to none. My favorite song off the Funkentelechy LP.
Today's music is a product. This music is art.

And once again the pleasure principle has been rescued with aid of the funk! And everybody said ... funk me!
So much talent on that stage it's no wonder you get a thrill everytime they played together this is by far the best unmatched showmanship , RIP Gary .
Gary Shider. What a performer !! RIP brother.. He keep funky !!
Man that bass is smoking! Play the damn thing then!
Facts
Glen Goines blew it up. He was a genius ask Johnny Taylor Disco Lady .......RIP Johnny Taylor
You just don't get bands with showmanship like this any more.
Right they reallyyy put on a show! 💯
I disagree. The problem is that the bands today are ALL showmanship and zero percent musicianship

Long live the funk.
Now that should have been Glen Goins on this cut. He was lead vocals on the album version. RIP Glen and Gary.
He had already left the group
And Gary sung on this song too
Timeless Masterpiece.
That guitar in the intro cut rite into me!
Rest in peace, Garry; you finally got over the hump...PEACE.
Wow! Takes me right back to 1978, poor recording quality and all. God I wish I was there. Genius!
