  • This is an overview of the Manly Wasp slipjoint knife with S90V Supersteel. UK & Europe Legal. Doesn't break the bank either.
This has a sub 3 inch blade, that folds, has no locking mechanism (it has a slip joint), so it's UK Legal and is made from a supersteel called S90V, which is a powdered steel. Powdered steel means it is constructed from tiny droplets of their metal with it's components and then melded together so that the blade has a uniform profile of component elements. So you get very good wear resistance, edge retention etc. This is light years beyond your usual steel in knives.
It has 3 stops between open and closed to aid safety along with a finger choil to let your fingers choke up against to help you not let the knife too easily close on your fingers if you are cutting almost vertically with a lot of force.
It has a very good point on it, which to me is an important feature. I was cutting through some thick plastic at work once and my Spyderco Squeak had to have more clumsy puncturing type of force to get through the plastic, which was a bit embarrassing for such an otherwise nice knife. So having piercing power is a big thing I look for these days.
A truly amazing every day carry slip-joint knife for people who want a really nice knife with great steel as part of their EDC. Just be sure that you have a diamond stone to sharpen this knife because it is so hard that basic "stones" will take a lot longer than you'd expect.
If you found this useful or interesting please subscribe and like :)
    Enjoy.

About "this knife is not a tool" - I, being bulgarian could say it's mistranslated. As others here say, by that is meant that the knife should not be used as a screwdriver or a pry bar. It's not a weapon either so it is a tool. The owner explained to me once as I went to their factory - it is important for him that people get good slicing tools and get the best cutting performance from them. The guy was really nice and informing there. Thank you techwg for the good review.

I think they meant it wasn’t a screwdriver. I seen what they wanted for D-2 steel, and like a dummy, only ordered one ☝️, the first time. They were out of stock, before I could order the second one. I’m very happy I came across these knives!

Thanks for making this video. After disregarding this knife some time ago, i'm coming back around to it and getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on either the green or the limited red Heinnie run.

You might want to look into the Twosun TS90 on eBay. Its a titanium handled slipjoint with a 69mm M390 blade.

This knife is not a tool.. I think they probably mean for prying and scraping etc?

I think so too. It is not a pry bar or screwdriver.

I think the “this is not a tool” means it’s not a pry-bar! Interesting that you compare it to the SOG Terminus... so did I! Pop by and see my vids on both if you have a minute. Great knife, well reviewed, thanks! 😃

Just bought one from HH. I wanted the black but it wasn't available, so I went for the desert camo, which looks surprisingly subtle. In the flesh, I'm blown away by this knife - really pleased. The only thing wrong with it is the silly company name (Manly - I mean, come on - they might just as well have called themselves Big Dick).

Yes. I would prefer the company had a different name. Plus "Manly" could be seen as a potentially negative thing, in terms of someone who might carry a knife as a weapon so they feel "like a real man" as some people would see it. But it is what it is, it's a legal knife and I have no negative intents with it. But yeah, not the best name I have ever heard.

It is. It's quite thin so it slices into things very, very easily.

Dude thats not legal to have on you when not at your home address, look at bladed or sharply pointed articles law 😉

    • @techwg

It is. 3 inches or under, folds, does not lock. This makes it legal.

In Bulgarian "tool" is generally used to describe a specialised instrument (Wrench, screwdriver, etc).
It's a common disclaimer, just worded poorly. You can also see a typo - "Hight" next to Corrosion resistance.
PS The handwriting is real :) Manly is a rather small company and much of the work they do is by hand.

    • @techwg

So do I :) Not as polished as the well known brands, but they offer good value.
Check out the Drugar if you can, it's a pretty nice fixed blade (Not sure about the UK though).
