The reason they wear desert camies in training is safety concerns. This doesn't happen just in recruit training this happens in units as well. Where if you are stationed stateside or at a training ground you will wear the opposite color of the season. This way in case anyone is injured or lost they can very quickly be spotted.

I completed boot camp back in 2000. 4th Battalion only had 2 companies and we trained next to a brother battalion. This is nothing like what I did. The other video is closer to it but everything eventually changes. Honestly though, I question if these female recruits would have made it through the training back then. I totally get why all the old seasoned dogs were shacking their heads at us fresh fish now. Simper Fi

I don't see a problem with diversity. I do see it with the forcing part though. Diversity should be accepted but only as means to improve. Hence, the required standards should not be different to accommodate diversity. Standards should always go higher, of course with various different levels according to the job. But when you're talking about the same job, standards should be the same regardless of gender or whatever else.

women comprise 4.5% of the people's liberation army. from the first female general, fu hao, who lived about 3200 years ago, to the 12 women generals who serve in the pla today, women's frequent presence has been observed in both regular and irregular chinese military formations in it´s 5000 years of history. cultural and ideological support for women's military participation has also been frequent. military service is one of the social mobility channels which allow women to achieve or hope for social recognition or higher status in otherwise culturally stiff asian society.

When I was in the 82nd airborne I had one female soldier who I was glad to have in my team. She was strong and didn’t expect any type of special consideration when it came to the job at hand. Loved her. She was a battle buddy. On the other hand, as much as I love women and I love my daughters, most of the time in my personal experience, the women were treated with a lot of special privilege. We were all the same MOS but somehow they landed the comfy indoor A/C jobs, rarely went to the field and when we were at the motor pool, well…… yeah. All I can say is that if you are going to be a soldier regardless of your sex or ethnicity, age or any other variable. The standards cannot waiver. It tears apart the whole team.

And you don't have the time, energy, and resources to maintain a luxury like long hair. In the field you barely have enough time to eat and you rarely have time to get enough sleep. If you have long hair in the field then you need to maintain it by brushing it and "fixing" it so it works with helmets and MOPP gear... that's time you just don't have. You shave it off so you can focus on the task at hand. To be honest, going days and even weeks without showering or bathing makes you feel just plain gross. Having hair on your head just adds to that.

Did my basics in 94 and the 15 females we had all failed. The instructor made sure the best were graduating. One female made it to the field where we were carrying her stuff and sometimes even her. Once the instructors saw we were a good team, they told us no more helping her. During runs, we were literally running circles around her. She was very strong mentally but physically not on par with us. On the other hand, in the course before us, a woman was a beast! She could carry a 200 pounds man on her shoulders just like any man there. I would have gone to combat with that woman. She is/was the exception, not the standard. Today, the instructors go out of their ways to make women pass… thats sad.

Most reasonable people understand the issue isn't black and white but they are overshadowed by a loud group of people who want to feel included in every aspect of the world aside from reality. The fucked thing is that we will all be paying for this down the line - coming from somebody who knows they have no business serving on any battlefield. Any exception made during training is a failure to prepare these people for a significantly more unpleasant reality on the field. If they can't hack the training then everyone around them is being put at unreasonable risk, in a job that is already unreasonable. War has never made an exception for anyone's delusions of virtue.

@@ryucartel351 - Re: "Friend of mine served as combat medic in Afghanistan, told me he lost count of women DROPPING injured dudes trying to move them!!!! What the FUCK!"
Back in the 1980s when women first started entering the military in large numbers in non-traditional roles, the Army immediately began encountering women who could not keep up with their male peers on various soldierly tasks, such as throwing a grenade successfully or doing a fireman's carry of a wounded buddy to safety. Well, duh! What did the armed forces think was going to happen? Reality is going to keep on being reality, regardless of what the feminists and some bought-and-paid politicians and generals may think.
Instead of admitting their mistake openly and honestly, and dealing with the issue on that basis, the armed forces swept the data under the rug, lied and obfuscated about it, and pencil-whipped the results so that women scored as well as men. They also altered the tests - and eliminated some entirely - in order make boot camp/basic training more-female friendly. Instead of having throw a live grenade overhand at a more-distant target, the grenade toss was now over a low wall and could be performed underhanded. That way, the embarrassing fact that most female recruits could not throw a standard fragmentary grenade far-enough to escape its blast cone - would not be on-display in public. Instead of having to carry a wounded comrade by herself, it was allowed for teams of women to move the casualty.
Last but not least, the crowning achievement of Big Green was what they term "gender-norming," which is nothing more than a military-specific variation on the handicapping system used in golf. Women were given a separate and much less-difficult set of performance standards to meet in PT and elsewhere, which was bad-enough, but then they were awarded points equivalent to or greater than men, even though males had to meet higher and tougher standards in the first place. "Gender-norming" allows the services to lie to the public with a straight face that women are measuring up to the same standards as the men. It's all a giant falsehood and has been for decades now.
Forty years ago, when this nonsense was taking hold, the generals and admirals in command of our armed forces should have taken a stand to prevent the dilution of standards, if necessary by resigning en-mass. That would have forced a re-examination of the issue and maybe things would have been turned around. But the perfumed princes didn't do that. Instead, they turned their backs on their oaths, their respective services, the people under their command (male and female alike), and their country, the one they swore to defend. A very ugly and now-dangerous picture. Well, if we can't beat the communist Chinese in a straight-up fight, maybe they'll laugh themselves to death instead at how utterly idiotic we have become!

Damn, I did basic in Canada bout 5 years ago, had girls in my platoon that couldn't even do half of the 25 pushups that they'd punish you with. The instructors just let it slide every time, they'd do maybe 10 on their knees and just hold a plank while all us guys doing 25 or 50.
Come to the obstacle course, what a joke, couldn't even attack the obstacle like your life depended on it. We dove into the mud to do the army crawl underwire and rushed through all the others cause that's what the Instructors wanted. But the girls, no, let me take my time so I don't get too wet from the mud. Just embarrassing.

See that’s the difference, I could do 53 going into bootcamp and all I did was sit on my couch and eat. I was apart of this Co at bootcamp and think that it’s altogether a good experiment.
It’s like MCT, at MCT we have to integrate regardless. Being integrated pushed me because according to my Drill Instructors we had to be the best. The males were even afraid of my Drill Instructors, they always said we had it harder. What you went through was different from what I went through because of the Leadership. We always had to work hard. Yes men are stronger than women, but there are women who are willing to work just as hard or harder to be strong and especially be a United States Marine!
I came to bootcamp being able to barely do 1 pull up, I left being able to do 8. My max for my age is 9.
So don’t speak down on this, I believe in what they’re doing. Being someone that was part of a integrated company and then got dropped to an all female. Differently a different experience. I cried to go back to Hotel Co.

I am a retired Marine. I went in back in 1968 and got out in 1970. Spent my high senior trip in Vietnam. Myself personally think the Marine Corps has evolved into a lot softer than when I was in. It still has its strong points but there are many I don't see as good ideals. I think if Vietnam were to happen today a lot of guys would not be able to handle it and I know for a good fact the females would definitely would have no want to go there. Given it was in the mid 100's with the temps during the day and if lucky it got down to the 80's at night. Humidity was between 85-90 percent every day. Not once in a while for a couple of days but each and every day. The coolest I remember was during the monsoon season it was a high of 70 degrees with a low down into the 50's. It was cool enough that I shivered at night. When I went in we had to learn how to carry back a wounded brother along with all of his gear, his weapon and still be able to use our weapon if needed to be fired. Though we had suppressing fire from others but we needed to use ours if necessary. Not saying that there is not any women who could do that but they are far and few in between. Guys still need to be as tough as nails but there seems to be a lot more whining with them. Then again I am from what the young Marines call the old Corps and I find that funny since when I was in the WWII Marines were considered to be the old Corps. These are just opinions of an old crusty Marine. USMC Vietnam 69-70

That is because we are raised to protect girls and take care of them there, is no way we can look at them same way we look at guys.

Hotel company all the way 💯
Edit wanted to comment more because I was there) do want to say something said, the females did main events with us however we were separated barley having actual training with the females. Contact was limited for obvious reasons, the male training was not effected by our 2 female platoons. One in lead and one in follow series. We wore desert for bwt, gas chamber, “swim week” and our crucible. Besides that it was woodlands. Also we did pt together, only males shave their heads. I agree the course was not hard, however females don’t have as much upper body strength... this was also about 20 minutes after our hike to page field. The kid who was giving that attitude I knew, let’s say he had a lot of fun in the squad bay. When the cameras were around everything was dumbed down, it was soft when they were around. The first night we slept outside in sleeping systems. the second we were in the huts due to freezing rain. When you say “this drill instructor gives a shit” you are right he was a great, stern drill instructor who knew how to discipline properly. They left out our ammo can 6k run. We did day and night land nav during BWT. The gloves were awful, very thick and when they got wet and sandy were like sand paper.

But doing that hike back while at the time the most pain you've ever been in, knowing you're walking to what you worked for these past 2 and a half months really motivate you to finish and a sense of reward. I remember looking up to the "WE MAKE MARINES" sign and thinking I'm about to be a Marine. Of course looking back at boot camp it seems the easiest thing in the world, and these recruits look absolutely horrible, but that's what Lances are for in the fleet.
