I think the most spectacular thing about Princess Juliana Airport are the hills at the end of the runway - you have to climb pretty quickly once you lift off the runway if you want to avoid hitting the hills!
I"ve been there almost every year since 1999 and it is definitely worth the trip to watch the airplanes land and take off. We've seen people who are unaware of the force get blown into the water.
I did that once , and it was THE most painful thing i have ever done. That KLM gives it full thrust with the breaks on, allowing for it to have enough power to reach the take off speed. So, its just sitting there, at full thrust while you are being pelted by sand and rocks only to realize that the plane has yet to move. It sucks because you can't move until the plane has taken off because it can literally blow you back a couple feet.
I watched a piece about this little phenomenon/"hobby" on BBC World's 'The Travel Show' a couple nights ago and thought, "Yeah: looks kinda juvenile... but also fun as hell!" LOL 😁
+Michelle S Lol yes Michelle you are correct, they are most certainly idiots and that would be an excellent solution but the problem is that every time someone makes something idiot proof, the world always makes a better idiot.😂😂😂
This airport should be in your travel book "after a nice massage, go down to the beach and experience jet blast" They should not make blast barriers, those are no fun. I mean, where else can you say you've blown by a 747... Only in St. Maarten
ive been here theres a beach behind the road and the plane blows the sand at you and it feels like beebeegun pelets it was fun. oh and the sland is very small about 2 miile big
fences are very low that you we in Italy before we can enter into airport we get over 2 feet tall fences with barbed wire electric would be nice to make videos for the aircraft so closely beautiful airport
mammerlemam, you made me laugh when I read your comment, "it's a cessna not a 747". Why don't you stand behind the engine and see if it's a Cessna for me. :) Btw, a 747 can blow a Ford sedan with 1 engine at full power and the car is driving diagonally from the right to the engine at 50 yards. So humans standing that close WILL get blown off.
It doesnt do as it says on the can does it really, it says it blew over some bystanders watching it take off, correct me if im wrong but i didnt see anyone get blown over ?? :S hmmmm looks fun though,, makes a good hair dryer :D
No lights. They just stop. Smart. Now there is another fence so you actually have to stand in the street. Should've left it how it was. Just packed my ear plugs. Safety first!! And rum first!! Sunset Beach Bar tomorrow!! woo hoo!!
if i were the pilot of that plane and i saw people grabbing on to the fence like that, i would have ran the engines at full at the end of the run way with the parking brake on for at least a minute :p.
@nandoanalog The only planes that don't use flaps when taking off (normal) are a PA-38, I think a 152 and anything else small like that. Everything else uses them.
@astoniz It was a Panasonic 3 CCD Mini-DV camera, forget that model number. I have a newer model now: PV-GS320. I like the 3 chip/ccd camcorders because each chip handles a color spectrum (Red, Green or Blue) separately which enhances overall color/picture.
The pilots did not apply full throttle at the beginning, they may saw the stupids there, they applied just a rolling power and after a couple of hundreds feets they really press her on.
Hello, Im a Avionics Flight engineer. I don't think that these people on the fence know, what really could happen to them, if the pilots need to set the thrustlevers to Take Off Power. The really get fuckin blown away
Part 2: both my feet came off the ground about a foot in the air and i was flying whilst hangin on the fence......also in those days cars cld park there...a few were flipped over...thats why they put up the armco..fact
Notice some pipes on the the fence already bended when spectators hold on while defying jet blast in front of them? This place won't be fun without people as crazy as them to look at.
@xspit100 She was a princess. And the Netherlands Antilles don't exist anymore. Sint Maarten now is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. So it would be Princess Juliana International Airport, Saint Martin, Netherlands.
@Bobcat110 I told a friend of mine that i did this once. and she didn't believed me. I searched you tube and showed her this video, only to find out that i am in it. The big guy with the white t-shirt and beige shorts. Thanks now i can proof that i did it. Greets from the netherlands
THATIS SO FUCKIN COOL THE JET MAKES A HURRACANE WELL THRUSTS FROM A 747 CAN DO THAT GLAD IT AINT RAINING OR THERE FACE WOULD BE STINGING FROM THE 560 MPH RAIN DROPPLETS
Wow! that's some climbrate. Now I realise just why the approach is over the beach. Great footage!!
I think the most spectacular thing about Princess Juliana Airport are the hills at the end of the runway - you have to climb pretty quickly once you lift off the runway if you want to avoid hitting the hills!
Ok
I love the way the fence is all twisted and bent from all those people hanging onto it.
I"ve been there almost every year since 1999 and it is definitely worth the trip to watch the airplanes land and take off. We've seen people who are unaware of the force get blown into the water.

Nice description
Cracking your spine against that guardrail.
Natural selection at it's best.
That plane is a monster wow!🔥🔥
Great video from maho Beach 🏖 other subscribers
@codmarter because St Maartin is an island that was colonised by the dutch. KLM is the national dutch airliner and so they do regular trips
I watched a piece about this little phenomenon/"hobby" on BBC World's 'The Travel Show' a couple nights ago and thought, "Yeah: looks kinda juvenile... but also fun as hell!" LOL 😁
It's very funny to see those guys behind the fence.
But I think it's very dangerous. They are right behind the engines.
Such a beautiful thing! LOL at the guys at the fence though! :D haha
God I love the sound of airplane turbines!!!!
***** They are called turbofans.
turbines????????????????????????????
Gray Graham everyone is correct. technically.
Whatever. I don't work on planes.
***** NOBODY HERE DOES. ITS COMMON KNOWLEDGE
ahhhhhh.KLM.reminds me of the fun i experienced standing behing the fence as it took of.lol.such fun. :D
@Bobcat110 The image quality is really great. Even when watching TH-cam in 360p, the picture looks quite sharp and real.
Now you consider this a bad upload. 2019
A beautiful plane! 9/2021
People come from all over the world just so they can get so close to watch the takeoffs and landings there!
Those dutch are crazy dudes!! See how they riding that beast up .
Risky !!!!
Theres a ' HELL OF A LOT ' of power being unleashed in those four engines !!!
man! thats crazy. i wish i could experience that.
That's great a road right behind the people and loads of thrust going towards them that's sudden death straight away
This is dangerous because if you have a little stone fly at you in your eye or head
Yeah but these simpletons don't see it that way there as thick as "pig shit"....
Who cares? You?
They should electrify the fences to stop idiots grabbing on to them
+Michelle S Lol yes Michelle you are correct, they are most certainly idiots and that would be an excellent solution but the problem is that every time someone makes something idiot proof, the world always makes a better idiot.😂😂😂
@@mustangflyer6878 well said
really nice video .. BTW what videocam is that ??
wahhhh...the thruster was so powerful...those nuts not afraid that they will blow away by the engines??
@RantingBitch Ye, I see it now. It creates pressure under the wings. It was confusing to me cause flaps are also used to descend, and land.
echt superkicken voor de piloot...It's a thrill for the pilot....

Cant believe they have access to that area so close. Probably not the best idea if safety is in mind.
KLM pilots are the best my dad works for them hes gr8 my fav pilot is Captain Jacob Veldhuyzen van Zanten
do any 777s go there, would love to see them do that behind a GE90 :)
ive been here theres a beach behind the road and the plane blows the sand at you and it feels like beebeegun pelets it was fun. oh and the sland is very small about 2 miile big
what a great family activity! putting their own lives at risk!
The hell with the jet blast, it's that hill at the foot of the runway that's worth getting nervous about.....
@ciudatelu
me too!! is a great place!!
fences are very low that you we in Italy before we can enter into airport we get over 2 feet tall fences with barbed wire electric would be nice to make videos for the aircraft so closely beautiful airport
wild jumbo jet blows people into the water!

I loved this plane so much 😥

Your camera is excellent!
I'm pretty sure they stop traffic on that road during take-offs. Otherwise the cars would be pushed around too.
@nandoanalog

That's nuts, man...Bet they couldn't hear for days...
@codmarter becuase it whats airlines fly 747's to st marteen its only KLM and corsair i think lol
Nice shot
st maarten is my home land ant i love it whan i see the airport i just get imotsiol

been there, amazing, highly recomend it for plane enthuiasts
I'm scared of those things as much as I am just awestruck by them
The pilots did not apply full throttle at the beginning, they may saw the stupids there, they applied just a rolling power and after a couple of hundreds feets they really press her on.
no... it's a 747-400!! city of nairobi, I've taken this beauty in my flight amsterdam - toronto
Thrilling experience 👍
Amazing video!
well judging by the wingtips it's a 747-400 and it clearly says it right under the cockpit :-D
Minute forty one seconds .BIRD HITS PLANE .LOOK CLOSE .COMES FROM LEFT SIDE OF SCREEN
Think they still have a couple of 744s in the old colors still? But the video is probably about a year and a half to two years old
The people weren't in the path or they'd be blown away.
OHHHHHHHH my God have mercy, a Cessna now thats a good one.
you would think the airport would install some blast shields, but they will wait till an accident happens before they do
Why did he have the flaps down while taking off?
@ciudatelu which country is that?
Hello, Im a Avionics Flight engineer.

The really get fuckin blown away
wau!!!!!
nice.....
Part 2: both my feet came off the ground about a foot in the air and i was flying whilst hangin on the fence......also in those days cars cld park there...a few were flipped over...thats why they put up the armco..fact
they do realise that if they let go, its bye bye for them. why do they let people right behind the runway? crazy
Good luck trying to make a sandcastle
lol :p
Must be fun staying behind most powerful engines, lol
M. O. R. O. N. S.
do they have traffic lights for the cars to stop?
I live on this Island! and this plane didnt give full Jet Blast tho.....
What if the jet blast picked up a rock and hurled it at those people on the fence?
Notice some pipes on the the fence already bended when spectators hold on while defying jet blast in front of them? This place won't be fun without people as crazy as them to look at.
I saw some right drag wind while the boeing was in the air, damn it looked abit scary o.o
How that fun?? 😆💪
@xspit100 She was a princess. And the Netherlands Antilles don't exist anymore. Sint Maarten now is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. So it would be Princess Juliana International Airport, Saint Martin, Netherlands.
the pilots said EAT THIS SHIT BWAHAHAHAH!!
The real name of this video is "How many morons can you count in this video" Hint, it's everyone in the jet wash.
Did you notice the video cut for split second around 1:11? That's because of aliens.
great video!!
5/5
Anchors seem to hold a wall LOOOL
cool video :)

Was there yesterday so sick
This is cool, I wanna try that!!
@Bobcat110 I told a friend of mine that i did this once. and she didn't believed me.

Funnny Guys!!!! ;-)
You could probably make a buck selling those guys some goggles.
looks lik mad fun..lol.
The absolute stupidity of some people is beyond belief!
@Bobcat110 I think it just got blown into another universe trying to fly behind the 747
I would like to see them hold onto the fence when a C-5 Galaxy take's-off with full load.
THAT was pretty sarcastic :)
Looks like a bird strike at 1:40 mark?
Yeah thats amazing!
Actually that pfence was hit by the planes on a cuople of occasions
small airport for such big planes
THATIS SO FUCKIN COOL THE JET MAKES A HURRACANE WELL THRUSTS FROM A 747 CAN DO THAT GLAD IT AINT RAINING OR THERE FACE WOULD BE STINGING FROM THE 560 MPH RAIN DROPPLETS
If stones hit you they can really hurt bad.
