Yeah, the performance is really good. It's a welcome change from another PS5 port that released 2 days ago 🤣 Hopefully they can fix DLSS frame gen soon.
You're welcome! I know I tested very few settings at 1080p, but I dont think people with a 4070 Ti Super at 1080p is going to drop the game to Low settings 🤣 I could 100% be wrong though.
Seems pretty great going by the numbers. Great job with checking out the DLSS scaling and the ingame preset scaling. Really nice to see that, and the game should hopefully scale to lower end devices like the steam deck too.
Have the same GPU and I set a limit of 120 FPS which depending on my game will let the GPU utilization be around 70-90%. This leaves a lot of overhead for intense map areas resulting in solid FPS with good 1% Lows.
What a wonderful PC port! It looks decent, scales well on both CPU and GPU, does not stutter, does not use too much VRAM (and scales it well with DLSS presets, unlike Nixxes ports, which consume the same amount of VRAM, no matter whether you use DLAA or DLSS Performance). To be honest, even the fact that DLSS-FG does not work correctly, does not concern me. FSR-FG would provide significantly higher framerate anyway (and also consumed less VRAM).
I started playing it ~30 minutes after release, and I have yet to have seen the screen prompting to sign in to PSN. I might have linked PSN to Steam years back, could be it but it still has the option to sign in to playstation network in the main menu just like in Horizon Forbidden West. Game is super well optimized, however I saw a lot of threads of players being unable to even launch the game on 4GB & 6GB VRAM cards and also crashing in the sledge scenario (starting of the game) which definitely sucks. A interesting bug that some players reported was that they were stuck with the game device renderer set to Integrated Graphics being unable to change it (I have integrated graphics enabled in my PC too for my top screen, and it still choose the GPU (4070 Super) - using 3 screens + VR through GPU and 4th screen through Integrated Graphics). EDIT: I forgot to mention, when I enabled NVIDIA FG, it gave me 20-30 frames instead of double, going from ~130-140 native to ~160-170 with FG.
I also didnt see that screen until I restarted the game after playing through the first sled area. I've seen the 4GB VRAM issue where the game doesnt even start up, and it's weird because the game isnt really heavy on VRAM anyway. It's strange that your DLSS FG is working. Did they maybe release a small patch?
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Edit: I hopped on the game, I still do not have any prompts requiring me to sign in, however testing now NVIDIA FG does not work at all. I must have confused the high native frames for FG as I wasn't expecting the game to run as well as it does. Summary: Native & NVIDIA FG are identical. While enabling FSR FG my frame rate goes from 88 native to 146 (this is with a 4070 Super at 1080p - DLAA all Ultra settings surrounded by a bunch of hotsprings in the exact same place. Original comment: I will open the game today and see if it gives me the prompt, as for DLSS FG I enabled it within the first 30 minutes since the game came out, and it seems to work somewhat, not near as well as doubling the frames as other games though. Rather than doubling the frame rate it seems to give me about half of the native frames, must do some testing.
@@mr_cryzler34can't agree that this is an optimised game. The performance in this section doesn't represent the performance of the game. Optimised section of the game is the right word. The realm travel area tanks the performance and svartelheim also tanks the performance. Dlss doesn't give me much performance boost. And dlss frame gen doesn't work most of the time. Fsr frame gen works. UI icons are low resolution. And the more I play the vram indicator in the games settings keeps going up. It comes back to low if I quit and reopen the game. I'm running on a rtx 4070.
@@dr.sivavignesh664 Yeah I can totally agree about the "door travel area" dropping frame rate, in my case down to 60s on native 1080p with DLAA - All ultra. Overall though with the performance to fidelity end of things, in my opinion runs on par with the previous GoW. While playing through I'm averaging ~110-120 frames on native with DLAA @ 1080p Ultra, at this resolution my CPU is holding me back most of the time. As for VRAM I can't say for all resolutions, but at 1080p Ultra - DLAA it caps at ~8GB of actual VRAM usage when monitoring with "RTSS" and "GPU memory usage \ process" setup too at least on my end, so probably around 10GB at 1440p & close to 12GB for 2160p. EDIT: Btw if upscaling doesn't give you more frames that's probably due to being CPU bound, as upscaling in itself puts more work on the CPU.
@@mr_cryzler34 my cpu doesn't reach full usuage. I'm running a ryzen 5 7600x. Although I would say 8gb for 1080p is just crazy. Textures doesn't look that good. Which causes the vram usage to increase as time progresses. These vram related issues are getting out of hand. Instead of calling out gpu manufacturers for selling low vram cards people should call out the devs for doing a sloppy job.
hello man how u doing? nvidia frame gen doesnt seem to apply for me in this game, idk why.. i had to sacrifice the quality using dlss instead to gain performance boost..
FSR frame gen is very good, but DLSS upscaling has better image quality than FSR. But this game uses FSR 3.1, so you can use DLSS with FSR Frame Gen and it'll still look great. I just use DLAA + FSR FG as the framerates are very high with that combo, and DLAA does look better than DLSS Quality as it is native.
Very Nice,.. cept the DLSS FG part.. does DLSS Quality at 4K look similarly good as native 4K like it sometimes does? I plan to run 4K DLSS Q + AMD FG, maybe even 5K DLSS B +AMD FG on the 4080 S.
Hello @Mostly_Positive_Reviews , what cooling solution are you using for your CPU? I see you have good temperatures. I have an i5-13600KF, and it runs at 68°C, but when I enable turbo mode, it goes up to 78°C to 82°C.
Interesting. I didnt change any specific setting. Daniel Owen made a video showing that tesselation can severely impact performance due to a bug. Others have issues when switching from FSR FG to DLSS FG and back, and a restart fixes that issue. Set tesselation to medium and see if it fixes it for you? Another one is maybe v-sync being stuck on. So enable v-sync, disable it again and then restart the game.

Welcome to PC gaming man! Sorry for only replying now. God of War runs very well on that system, so I would just use 1440p Highest with DLAA. If you want slightly higher framerate then DLSS Quality also looks pretty good. If you are fine with some added input latency that you wont feel if you use a controller then use the Highest settings with DLAA and enable DLSS or FSR Frame Generation. Using DLAA and FSR Frame Gen I am able to lock my framerate to 158 fps, which is what Reflex + V-sync + G-sync limits it to on my 165hz monitor.
