He was wrong about Dresden. Its the only bombing raid I'm at odds with. Furthermore I knew a participant in thr Dresden bombing raid who told a totally different story and that there was widespread discontent amongst RAF bomber crews but felt compelled to do so. He's exhibiting bravado because he doesn't want to be wrong. Sadly on Dresden he is.
These are great interviews. Bombing the shti out of cities is obviousvly horrible (and a warcrime) but this is context on what leads to that kinds of thinking. War is hell. Thank god Europe has made peace and those that try try stir up old hatred between European countries should be shunned. The conservative party PR machine love to paraquote WW2 speech to further silly causes like Braxit (which is essentially is an economic and political issue that isn't life of death) and I think it's irresponsible and disrespectful.
How the hell is this a warcrime. These men are heroes without whome we would not have the freedoms we have today. The actions of these airmen shorterned the war by months if not years and saved many hundreds of thousands of lives. People who make comments like you should hang their head in shame. This gent and people Bomber Harris and Churchil helped save the free world
