    2004 Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero/Shogun (CK/V60/NM/NP) Review, In Depth Tour, and Test drive
    The 3rd generation Mitsubishi Pajero, also called the Montero, or Shogun is a direct competitor to the Land Rover Discovery and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. It was classified as a mid sized SUV in older generations, and was later reclassified as a full sized SUV, supposedly rivaling the full sized Land Cruiser such as the LC80, LC100, and LC200, but in reality, still has roughly the same dimensions as most mid sized SUVs. It was released in 1999 in Japan as the NM Pajero, and later on facelifted in 2002/2003 and was called the NP Pajero. In The Philippines, we know this as the CK Pajero, and only went on sale in 2003.
    3rd generation Mitsubishi Pajero facelifted CK/NP/V60 body

    I could be wrong about this being a facelifted model. Thanks to a viewer who pointed it out, the grille and tail lamps are supposedly different on the facelifted model. It was a little hard to research about the small details on this vehicle. My apologies.

    I had a 5 speed diesel (3.2 4M41) version of this before. Very good torque but acceleration is still average. I also agree about how surprisingly comfy these are. But my favorite is how reliable it is. It served me 250k kms with no major issues! It's probably not Land Cruiser level in terms of reliability and durability, but I think this Pajero's reliability is still worth praising.

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's already a very good tradeoff since the Pajero is way cheaper in the market anyways compared to a Prado or full LC.

    The SuperSelect transfer case not only allows shifting on the fly (although that is possible one the non-SS models) but it allows you to drive in 4wd ALL the time. It's basically selectable between 4WD and AWD (4H & 4Hlc)

    I remember test driving this model alongside the diesel variant at Fort Bonifacio when they were introduced locally. The diesel felt livelier than the V6. Maybe because it has more low end torque, despite Mitsubishi Philippines bringing in the bigger non MIVEC 3.8L V6.

    • @KyleLiongCars

    Great review! I really like the look of the CK. By the way, is this good as a first car? Are there still plenty of parts available outside the casa? Expensive to maintain?

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to the owner parts are still widely available especially in Banawe. As for a good first car, I think it depends on what you’re looking for so I can’t exactly give a definite answer. Of course if you just need a reliable point A to point B transporter then compacts and sub-compact cars are still a better choice in terms of practicality.

      If you’re not yet used to owning a car and all the maintenance costs related to it, I highly advise AGINST the Pajero. Still more things to break compared to Toyotas, most notably the injectors daw which cost 150K for a set :( I would suggest getting maybe something like a HiAce or Fortuner pa rin nlng na used if you’re looking at the same price range as a CK.

    7,100 kms only but the engine bay is as dirty as crap. Plus the interior looks like it came back from Vietnam war. BS kms is what it is.
