  • In this video i talk about the iphone market in zimbabwe, most of the phones are sourced from Dubai and China, and apparently there are very few sellers selling original iPhones in the country.
Most iPhones that are being sold are refurbished and used.

Haha this is somewhat true. calling them fake however is different. Overheating is found everywhere where theree is a battery or any source of power included. I have an iPhone 12 Mini from Apple in Lenox Square and was brand new but it overheats here and there when charging. unless It gets hot to abnormal temperatures then w can raise some flags on that phone. So again its partially true but some information is just over exaggerated and this is a problem with Zimbabweans they take this wrong info only to be led to buying something overpriced like a used iPhone 6 sold for $230 which is very ridiculous in 2023. Info differs but great video spreading awareness..!

There is some truth to this! I bough an IPhone XR in the US in 2017, and my WiFi bought a ‘brand new’ iPhone 11 proMax. My XR has a far far better camera than hers. It’s noticeable how bad the camera is compared to mine. We even matched settings but it didn’t help. I suspect it’s one of those refurbished ones.

The shame of it is Zimbabwe has shown a reasonable appetite for legit, second hand imports. You don't need to scam people to be successful.
For the individuals interested, Apple and Amazon refurbs are quite good if you can get someone to bring them in for you. With Apple, you end up with a phone that's as close to brand new as you can get (with a modest discount Vs new) and with Amazon refurbished store, you get a vetted device that might not look 100% perfect but has a great price and warranty (just don't fall for the scammers claiming to be Amazon certified)

I kind of blame apple in part for how bad non apple refurbishing is since they refuse to sell components to third parties.

Refurbished and Fake 2 different things. Refurbished meaning rebuilt , repaired or facelift. Fake meaning counterfeit look like real even if it's brand new while its not .
