  • This is our second time going to one of the rock and gem shows put on by the Lakeside Gem & Mineral Club in Kennewick, Washington and the first one we went to was great, and the second one was even better!
    The cases were fantastic, we ran into a few people that we knew, and I even picked up a few nice specimens for myself.

    What a coincidence...2 days ago, I get home from a long day of cutting at Mike's shop to find this video. Today I'm polishing the pet wood that I cut and now I'm trying to identify them (plants are my forte).
    What's even better is that I have a cameo in the video around the 17 minute mark right behind Mike's head, wayyyy in the back.
    A great video as always!

    Thanks for covering the show for us. It really looked like a great show! The cases were awesome! And it looked like the turnout was good but not over crowded and I love your good buys! Lol! And thanks for the microscope shots! They were really amazing! Thanks Jared and Sara for covering the show so people like me, can experience it, without driving and battling the crowds❣️

    And thanks for suggesting that clubs should require labels on display-case items! I wish we could get that from show vendors in general.

    • @CurrentlyRockhounding
      @CurrentlyRockhounding  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, vendors being too lazy to label or price things is something I really don't like.

    We were there on Sunday! It was a great show. I got an incredible deal on some awesome serpentine from the Wild Turkey Mine at the tailgating event. Thanks for taking the time to show the displays, I was pretty focused on the silent auction and didn't get to see everything 😅.

    That purple wire tree looks a lot like a Wistera, but I happened to run into the lady that made it, at Mike's shop. She told me it was a willow, but my eyes still see a Wisteria, which also weep like willow, but when they bloom, they are covered head to toe in purple flowers and look absolutely stunning!

    The sphere in the "Blue" case is named K2 Jasper. However, it's really Granite with Azurite crystals in it. It will take a nice polish though. It's mined on the K2 mountains of Pakistan.

      Thank you! I will need to keep my eyes open for that material. It looks really nice.

      @@CurrentlyRockhounding A couple years ago I acquired a small sphere of that material. I've also picked up a few slabs of it over time. It will cut some interesting cabs with the blue on white effect.

      Isn't that the most (or one of the) deadliest mountains to climb in the world?

    • @spetkovsek57
      @spetkovsek57 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aidankeller1717 I'm not sure. From what I've heard, the location is near K2 and not on it specifically. They can see the mountain from where they mine the material. That means it could be in the foothills around it.

    I have been 3D printing since 2010 but have just recently become interested (addicted to) in rockhounding and lapidary. I am working on making a custom rock vise to fit our High Tech 10" saw. Also planning on coming to the PNW soon for to take some rocks home.

      You're (probably) thinking of the White Bluffs area, across the river from The Reach. It's illegal to collect fossils from there, unfortunately. Although I know a farmer who used to collect ice age fossils from there, before it became a protected area.
