Nice review. I have this helmet in the "Red/Blue" and found it a great fit out of the box. Its a little noisier than expected but still much better than a Shoei moto x helmet or a HJC RPHA 71 sports touting helmet. My ONLY issue with it here in OZ is the venting. The front vent is fine but the top vents are way too small for the heat we get here in Australia. Open or closed I can barely tell the difference. The visor in the wind even @ over 140klm/h is only slightly noticeable... and I have had neck reconstruction surgery with a block, plate and screws so I'm on the lookout for stuff like that. I have found that a 700klm day is no trouble at all while wearing the Commander 2 helmet. I do love this helmet and the way it looks. Thanks Airoh.
I have the first version of it. Overall, very happy with this helmet. And it looks gorgeous to me. The main downside of mine is the lining, a bit itching especially after one/two years of use. But on this 2nd version, it is totally new. I tried it at the shop, it looks and feels totally different, way better. Intercom: not an easy fit on mine, I had to dig the Styrofoam a little to find the correct position beside my ears. Airoh says they moved the fittings in a more correct position.
Another one: it has an oval shell shape, not rounded. Many other helmets (Nolan, Wed Nexx etc, Arai for the Japanese market, etc) have a rounded shape, that presses too hard on my forehead. This one is perfect for me. Overall, on the 2nd version it seems that all that was so/so on mine, has been fixed. I'll surely get one, once I'll have to replace mine.
Can you please do a video on installing Intercom on this Airoh Commander 2 helmet. really looking forward to it because Commander 2 is having that slider button extra for the sunvisor
I have installed a Cardo Edge on my Commander 2 helmet utilising the rear hole for cable access and you do not have ANY issues at all with the sun visor cable. You don't even see it. The only issue I had installing the Cardo was sticking on the microphone was a pain. I'm not sure what coating the plastic inside the chin section is covered with but to get the dbl sided tape to stick required multiple cleanings with Prepsol (wax/grease remover) to get any sort of adhesion at all. Have a Great Day From the Land of OZ!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll include this point in helmet review from now. I'll be doing a Best of ADV helmets review in a few weeks and will include this factor in that video - Andrew
I personally find this to fit just a little bit for me. I'm medium in helmet size, but not in this one sadly. They didn't have a small in store so I'll have to wait and see if that fits better once it's in stock.
Ok the one thing I came for you haven't covered which is goggles - I had the LS2 one but that was rubbish with goggles, the opening wasn't big enough and made it uncomfortable with my fave goggles. Have you worn this with goggles, if so which ones and will the visor close with goggles fitted? Thanks
Hmmm, i was planning buying diff mid priced helmet. Walked into the shop, lifted the Airoh, so light, bought it. Within 30 min, two pressure points, not good. I might not have a "pretty" head, but never had this much of an annoying and then painful pressure from a helmet. Getting bit better.......
Do these come up on the small size? One previous comment suggests they do! Im a 60cm head so was going to get size L but dependant on sizing would you advise stick to an L and adjust liners or go XL? many thanks
Hi, I'm not sure why it would seem that way. It comes down all the way to a fraction off my nose tip, just like the Nexx one and does a great job. I certainly finds it works really well and would be the first to say if I found it was too short - Andrew
if you mean the peak, you are somewhat right. It is more an aesthetic feature than really usefull. I have the 1st version of this helmet, the peak protrudes the same as in this 2nd one (they improved the airflow of it, to ease the "sailing" effect at speed - already a minor issue on mine, actually). But at the end, there is the internal sunvisor, and that works fine.
Good question. I can't give you a scientific answer but I'll do my best. I don't think it makes as much difference as you would think. A helmet's construction is fairly dense and not dissimilar to thick insulation. Therefore any difference in the outermost layer from having a darker colour in terms of heat build up, is immediately insulated by the EPS lining and removable liners inside and is also cooled by the resulting airflow both on top of and underneath through the air channels. It may make a very small difference and if I was somewhere truly hot all the time I would probably err on the side of caution and go lighter but in 20 years of riding I can't say I've ever noticed a helmet being hotter or colder from the colour. I was recently in the Gobi desert with a dark coloured helmet and never once thought about being too hot in it - Andrew
I don't think there's a wrong decision either way. Go for which one you like the looks of. Having had another week with both since the review it's very even. The Nexx is so much better if you think you will want to be taking the visor on an off a lot, the Airoh is much more of a faff. But if you'll mostly keep it on then the Commander is lighter and a little slimmer. - Andrew
I purchased the Nexx before the Commander. Sent it back to the shop. Excellent helmet, but good for rounded head shape to my opinion. Mine is oval, and the commander fits perfectly, The Nexx, on me, not, it was pressing on the forehead too much.
Just picked up one. Same colour, but sand instead of military green. Very impressed!
I have this in the Carbon Variant.
Always get a complement from people for it.
Loving it so far.
i had one and it was a very good helmet- better fit and more comfortable than my shoei hornet and it was quieter

From the Land of OZ!
Got 2 of these . Loving it.
One thing I would like to see in these reviews is how googles fit the dual sport helmet. I find most of them don't fit any or just the smallest ones
Yes, especielly without taking the visor off. Who can be bothered to take that off just because you want to use goggles?
Thanks for the feedback, I'll include this point in helmet review from now. I'll be doing a Best of ADV helmets review in a few weeks and will include this factor in that video - Andrew
For what it’s worth. I have the previous version and the goggles fit perfectly without taking the visor off. 👍🏻
I have the 1st version of it, the goggles fit fine with or without the visor on.
Have not been able to find these available in the US yet.
Which intercoms are people fitting to this helmet? It doesn't seem like there's a good flat area to stick one on?
I personally find this to fit just a little bit for me. I'm medium in helmet size, but not in this one sadly. They didn't have a small in store so I'll have to wait and see if that fits better once it's in stock.
Do you know if you can use different size of inner lining at the same time? Eg. 2XL liner with an XL cheek pads?
Do they come with eyeglass grooves?

would this pinlock fit on the airoh commander 1?
Are they releasing new colours next year?
I'm not sure tbh. The helmet is brand new so I wouldn't expect to have news of any additions for a while - Andrew

I can imagine that the peak gets a lot of wind underneath and that you get a wobbly head on the road.
This is covered in the review at 2:50
I'm torn between this and the Scorpion ADF-9000. I definitely have an oval sort of head shape, so would you be able to make any suggestions?

@ i checked it out but i don’t like it

XL
I'm a 58 and the Medium fits perfectly so I think the sizing is spot on - Andrew
The only problem with this channel is they never review a bad product
Haha, we only stock the good stuff and we’ll only tell you about the absolute best of best. - Andrew
The top shader seems small with minimal protrusion and it is placed quite high, does it actually helps with sun blocking?

@@MATonTUBEInteresting, thanks for the input.
Any comments on if a darker color helmet is much warmer to wear than a light colored one?

Technically yes, but because of the insulation it should be minor
I'm guessing thw peak isn't adjustable?
No it's fixed in one position
I still struggle between this and the nexx wed3

One more short sun visor on the market
Interesting a couple of people have said this. I honestly don't think it is. I hate a short sun visor but this one covers everything really well.
@@AdventureRiderMoto 99,7% internal sun visors r short and all manufacturers still don't know how to fix it
Too many logos for my taste.
