This is the video that was my introduction to Sierra years ago and I never looked back. She's a treasure.
Sierra is from my hometown of Charleston WV and I had the privilege of seeing her perform in a dive bar a few years back. She had a bathing suit and fur coat on with no shoes and as soon as she opened her mouth she captivated the audience. Totally agree with your assessment, im not big on folk music but her voice is so special and has opened me up to other folk musicians. Glad you enjoyed.
I went to Tulsa to see her play, and found the same blonde Kay guitar model hanging in a guitar shop.
I've been really angry for years now that Sierra hasn't gotten the recognition that she deserves. Now that she's about to blow up, I'm afraid I'm going to be mad when this secret only some of us are aware of becomes public knowledge. I'll get over it, though--she deserves to be a household name.
She's a phenom. Since then she's taken on the whole world and is loved by everyone who hears her. Amazing voice, amazing songwriter. In her own way, she's a modern Bob Dylan in that you can't pin her down. I've listened to it a ton of times.
agree….rare rare talent. She’s touring currently. Seeing her soon, thankfully.
I stumbled across Sierra about a year or so ago, I immediately felt like I was transported to another era ...I went down the rabbit hole and cannot believe the magical sound and the feelings which she is able to evoke. It's refreshing, and somehow sounds old but new at the same time... Definitely an old soul Great reaction, spot on btw...
If Patsy Cline and Amy Winehouse had a baby, and that baby grew up deep in Appalachia, that's Sierra Ferrell. My personal favorites are "Bells of Every Chapel" and "West Virginia Waltz," but her whole catalog is very diverse, and you can hear influences from everywhere. I adore what she's bringing to music these days.
Yes!!
My dude, if you are liking Sierra you need to hear some Nick Shoulders. These two have kept my faith in the future of country music strong.
Found shoulders little over a year ago. Amazing sound
I’d never heard of her! Pure voice! ❤❤❤
Comlletely agree, man. Her live performances are generally much more organic and earthy which suits her songs really well.
I agree with you ! I've found that I love all genera of music! It's great when you can have an open mind !
I have never heard of Sierra Ferrell before and so I am glad to have had exposure to her now. I love this song and it feels like music that is very popular in local Asheville, NC. I'm going to iTunes now to look for her music.
I've been watching you for awhile. I am so glad you are reacting to Sierra - she was one of my finds last year and I love her music.
She is amazing. Check out her recent live cover of Don’t Let Me Down.
Sierra Ferrell is great, love the song Made Like That, check out her John Anderson cover of a song called “Years”
Her live version of "The Sea" or "Years" recorded by AudioTree are amazing
"You know you have a voice when you give yourself goosebumps." HAHAHAHA
I'm with you. Love many genres and Sierra is one of my favs from bluegrass/jazz/irishjigg-a-whatever-this is. That VOICE!
This was great, and introduced me to a new artist. One thing about these reaction videos is that it helps expose me to a wider range of music than I normally listen to. I'd heard your reaction to a familiar Led Zeppelin track and almost didn't click on this because I'd never heard of Sierra Ferrell. But I'm glad I did. She has one of those classic bluegrass type of voices (I see she's from West Virginia) and I definitely want to check out more!
Wow A new voice I’ve never heard! Definitely someone I want to hear more of. Thank you!!
I've probably listened to this version a couple hundred times. Any of her songs are great but I'd suggest Hey me, hey mama for you to listen to or react to, but it deserves a listen!
Terrific voice! Kind of ethereal?
She reminds me of Maria Muldaur "Midnight at the Oasis."
Found Sierra through tik Tok a few years ago. Just went to Aspen to watch her at the belly up. Amazing talent love her music
New song and artist to me! Love it! Thanks for turning me on to her.
love her voice and the melody....and the theme of the song. Thanks for posting!
Fellow west Virginian here and love seeing people discover sierra. She is so underrated and talented
I adore her. So glad you enjoyed it ❤
Something so beautifully ethereal about Sierra.
Etherial, yes, but she also throws her whole body passionately into her singing the way Janis Joplin did. Check out her recent live performance of Me and Bobby McGee at th-cam.com/video/HCDcuwwQtRI/w-d-xo.html . There has never been a great singer quite like her. And she keeps growing! So does her brilliant band.
Talented old soul.
I’ve never heard this but I love it! Reminds me when I was a pre teen and teen. Occasionally my parents would have a big outdoor BBQ and some friends would bring their musical instruments and play bluegrass on and off all day. I mainly listened to rock but I sure came to love that bluegrass.
She was just on Jimmy Kimmell. New album March 22nd. Shes about to blow up, get on the reaction train now. Check out her back story.
New music for me … loved it and thank you 👍🏼
I saw her a couple years ago and it was a great show!
some of us are very eclectic musically….love most, especially IF they are talented like Sierra. She is special.
A sublime piece of music. Like you said the album or Spotify version have nothing on this raw beautiful sound. Love it!
there are just some artists that don't need any "production", all they need is a mic and their instrument and all the magic happens on its own.
Sierra Ferrell is SPECIAL. And coming soon, EVERYONE will know.
I’ve never heard of her before but I really like it!
Great reaction, love learning new music from your channel !
I very recently came across Sierra and was instantly hooked. She plays with life in sound and in appearance so my curiosity pulls me in further.
I love her. Have for years. Glad to see someone see her for what she is as a Gem of life. I am big time into Plini, Chon, etc; but I am from Texas and I have a soft spot for true folk country. Glad to see you react to this tbh man.
Thanks for your honest reaction
Great points.
Incomparable Sierra ., setting a standard for great music. !
Beautiful voice!
Sierra Ferrell and Nick Shoulders also appreciate each other, as is obvious from these videos, which are musically impeccable, beautiful, and fun:

Loved this
Wow, discovered a new songbird here. Thank you, Polo and your followers suggestions. Right up my alley. If you like Sierra, I would also recommend Lisa Hannigan. Great places to start would be Little Bird, Home, or Safe Travels. Thank you for turning me on to so much great music.
She is a performer. Like Charley Crockett, both learned their trade busking in the street
I really enjoy your page. You've introduced me to songs I've never heard! ❤ And you don't interrupt like a lot of others do. 😊
She is the most interesting singer, songwriter and performer I’ve seen in decades. Pure talent.
Beautiful song and songstress! I love the raw, realness of the performance. Thanks for introducing me to this! So beautiful. Another amazing song with this beautiful bluegrass feel that you absolutely need to listen to that I know you would love is Patty Griffin and a song called Mary. This song will pull at your heartstrings but you'll love it too. ❤
Nice! Bro, I have been hoping someone would put you on to Sierra! I thought you'd like her old timey feel
She just dropped a new album TODAY and it is AMAZING react to American Dreaming from Trail of Flowers !!!!
Like many magical musicians, the studio can't capture the essence. Check out her performance of Don't Let Your Deal Go Down from Carter Vintage. It is stunning. The world awaits an official release of a full concert.
She makes music that people who think they hate country music reconsider everything they think they know about the genre.😊. The message here, to keep an open mind, is equally as beautiful as the song.
Love this girl. I began hearing her and seeing her show up to sing and play when she was 18-19 years old. She was special from day one. I just went to see her again a week ago. Great show. There was something special in the air around my hometown at that time. Lots of great music. Still good music here.
Oh please do Sierra doing “Years” live Audiotree STAGED.
This song got me started on her music. Seeing her live in April and really looking forward to the show.
I stumbled onto a video of a live show of Sierra’s 2 or 3 years ago and have been listening to her ever since. It’s from the 2021 XPoNential Music Festival and still is a favorite of mine. The recordings of her at the time failed to capture the energy and essence of her live performances, but I think her latest album “Trail of Flowers” nails it. Compared to 99% of current music there is no “grid” and certainly no autotune. Her sense of pitch and timing is infectious. Her voice is amazing, but she’s also an incredible songwriter with a sense of humor and insight into our emotional worlds.
Bleah Zappa once said that writing about music is like dancing about architecture…
Even after we're all long gone, well that river will flow on. Won't you take me with you before I'm one?
Beautiful song. Check out "Chittlin' Cookin' Time in Cheatham County" for a great bluesy track from her.
She is a legend
Saw her last Summer at Blue Ridge Music Center in Grayson County, VA off the Blue Ridge Parkway. A ridiculously good live show and this was the encore song. The entire show was outstanding, but this is the song I went to see and she didn't disappoint!
Sierra is definitely a beautiful songbird. Not a day goes but I don’t listen to her. Love her always.
"Rosemary" is my favourite of Sierras.
Yes! Came here from watching the video of her singing it last night at the Ryman.

Love Sierra!
I'm a musician. I listen to almost everything. Of course there are certain artists I prefer to listen to
Thinking you might enjoy Cat Clyde if u like Sierra Ferrell. Fave tracks are Mama Said, Like A Wave, & Everywhere I Go.
Has a very bluegrass feel.
Beautiful
Sierra Ferrell, Charley Crockett, Bella White, Nick Shoulders
Check Sierra out singing Don't Let Your Deal Go Down, If I Was The Bottle...
That six pack behind him is actually in front of him so as t😂o keep and eye on it. Love your channel bud
Found your reactions tonight - haven't hunted on your channel yet, but if you've NOT found Stevie Ray Vaughn you've missed a legendary master blues guitarist. It MATTERS NOT what song you find to review, every single SRV song is masterful and MIND BLOWING 🤯😁
I have quite a bit on my channel
This sounds like Appalachian Mountain music .
Polo...I hit the like button for you.
Great recommendation Polo!! So nice to find new musicians to listen to… 🙏🏼…if you haven’t heard of Chinchilla, check out “Chalk Outlines” the live video collab with Ren. Then watch her live TV version of her song “Fingers” is hauntingly beautiful and gives me goosebumps every time. 🤘🏻🎧🤟🏼
Great choice! And I'm pretty sure Sierra Ferrell wouldn't be hanging out with any outward racists, this woman is a true free spirit, vagabond hippie type. Nose piercing, flamboyant outfits, etc. She also listens to all types of music. She had some white hillbilly types come out to open for her in San Francisco, from W Virginia. And they bust out with some 90s style hiphop/rap, and they were pretty good! So, she don't give a shit about those types of things. And you don't either, that's why you also listen to all types of music, it's inspiring! Most people are too scared to break out of their comfort zone/cultural group, worrying about what their group would think. But music, food, whatever, are the things that get people talking and relating to each other. Btw I am a Gen x Asian, born in SoCal white people land, and listen to everything.
You do realize that not all “white hillbillies” are racist? I’m from WV just like her and I’m not racist, so please don’t lump us all together because of something you’ve seen on TV or seen in the news.
[ just love you. You are a super nice man.
Bob Seger, don't give me that old time of rock and roll and Tracy Chapman....., Give Me One Reason
She is a female version of Ed Sheeran a street busker to World wide sensation.
Isn't she special?! OK I listen to all genres, promise!
Its Americana
230 million songs in the world , rock, sakkie, you name it we haveiy 11 languages in South Africa. We don't really talk to anyone who goes hard in on a genre, Unless they on a trip with it to experience it an add it to the 100's thousands of terabytes that exist. Same chords same humans...shame same,
I think you should shout out the channel you get videos from.
Please make time to react to Sierra singing '29'. It's about the 2010 mining explosion in West Virginia. She was with 600 lb of sin when the group wrote the song. Her voice is amazing in this powerful dirge. She sounds like she's screaming at times or crying out... The guitar playing is masterful and the emotions in the lyrics portray the final 5 days waiting to see if the four remaining miners were alive. The chorus repeats the horrific end, '25 is now 29' . The song is, in my mind, as significant as 'Ohio' and 'You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive"

Also this version that was filmed in the year of the disaster!!

Jane's Addiction
You're right when you say many people don't have a broad taste in music and stick within the genres they are used to. I suffer from a lack of willingness to listen to music that normally doesn't suit my taste. I don't like classic country because in my youth I was not allowed to listen to anything but classic country. I don't listen to rap music because to me it is a series of spoken words mixed with random beats and I don't consider it music. Bubble-gum music strikes me as childish and simplistic so I avoid it. However, since I began listening to your reactions to music I normally wouldn't give the time of day to, I find my musical horizons expanding. There will always be songs I will not like but taking the time to listen to them as you react to them has a least given me the opportunity to explore outside my comfort zone.
Please do Monolith, Twin Tribes
I am a big Alice in Chains fan. I am also a big fans of the Gems on VHS channel. I f you have never heard John Moreland play "You Don't Care Enough For Me To Cry", you are doing yourself a big disservice.
You’re doing a great job but I can’t watch you because of the perpetual motion thing. It’s so damn distracting!
Sorry for spamming the comments, mate. But if you want to try something a little different, maybe try listening to a Joanna Newsom song called "only skin". Challenging for many people to get into, but I know you're open minded.
Sounds great. Man, hard to watch though - she’s got something in her nose.
dude…get over it…her talent is amazing. Women aren’t here to please you with their looks. Geez.
