I think you missed the point on the "recommendations" section. Twoset was trying to say that bad violin players are recommended the viola, while bad guitar players are recommended the bass.

Yeah that was the point. To show how violins have lead roles in an ensamble and bass typically does not.

13:10 no I don’t agree with you. As a violinist, I can assure you that sight reading is not easier when you played a lot. This is the opposite, and twosets are very skilled and talented at this.

imo, twoset is more like saying how much more suffering u have to go through, rather than bragging about sightreading skills. as you noticed, davie and twoset started going on about which is harder rather than which is better, but i don't blame them, as that is what musicians eventually tend to do.

The bass vs violin schtick was funny and relatable. My dad played violin. Initially classic then jazz. After he was discharged from military in about 1953 he tried to make a go at earning a living playing jazz violin. Nope, so he began teaching guitar. He learned guitar as he was teaching his students. His style was Barney Kessel. Jam sessions at the house included bass fiddle (stand up bass), xylophone, trumpet, sax, guitar, flute, whatever else showed up at any given time, and my dad on violin. Growing up with a musician is both a blessing and a curse. He lovingly practiced scales on violin and/or guitar a minimum of 2 hours a day until his first stroke sometime in the mid 1980's. And that's why I follow you, I miss having musicians in my life. I don't want to live with them, but I miss having them around.

aren't there many things you can't play on a fretless guitar? like, the range of sound you can produce is expanded, and you can play more exotic music, but the songs you play on fretted guitar wouldn't be played on a fretless guitar. i'm not sure if fretless bass is different.

Okay actually sort of, violoncello means small violone, violone is also called bass violin so yes it means small bass violin...😞
Sorry, I'm just traumatized from all the years of people saying "HEY WHAT'S WITH THE BIG VIOLIN"
