Bad Robot surprised everyone by instant releasing the third movie in the Cloverfield franchise, The Cloverfield Paradox during the Super Bowl this year. They had been teasing an incoming third film using the websites associated with the Cloverfield ARG (Alternate Reality Game) to create some buzz using viral marketing, but nobody expected the movie to release so soon.
In this video, I'll start by doing a recap of everything that has happened in the Cloverfield universe so far, including Cloverfield (2008), it's ARG, 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) and it's ARG. Then I'll dive into the 40 Things You Missed in the latest ARG for The Cloverfield Paradox (2018). Finally I'll explore some timeline theories and attempt to explain how the three movies fit together. In particular, I'll be focusing on the easter eggs and connections to the other movies that you might have overlooked.
Get ready, because after all the alternate dimensions, split timelines and fine details, your brain may need a small vacation.

You can find evidence in heeps of the movies aka the Easter eggs. THE SICKEST movie franchise of all time. Someone ✌😊✌?? Mentions there will be unleashe monster, aliens, ripping timespace, demons. And the new movies I know what it's about and when not spoiling. But you have that rebellious group who are trying to expose the Japanese company. You got the new movie in a past future that they all dimension have in common linking together not but the tear in space jump but the howl alien things that are linked. You got the demons which are a different story.
I anticipate there will be plans for so many sick movies because of the complexity of all movies. They won't make one more movie and go this is it and why and everything dies in all paradoxes
I always thought the mysterious falling debris from the original Cloverfield was parts of the Shepard in the Cloverfield paradox pushed into the original dimension by it's explosion and that is why Tagurato claimed ownership, because it WAS there equipment just from the future of a parallel dimension. I also believe the sea bed nectar was being extracted from "Clover's" prehistoric Egg and that it's possible prior to the Shepard explosion, "Clover" was completely dormant or dead unlikely to be awoken by Tagurato's drilling and that's what the Explosion really changed it turned clover from a fossil to a living thing.

Yeah, different timelines. Lane (2016), Paradox (2026) I'm not positive in the year for the first one. But the new one is going to take place in WW2.
Paradox is set in 2028 and Cloverfield is set in 2008.

Cloverfield is one of my top 5 favorite films ever made. I love the universe and monsters. It’s crazy how the ARG stuff is implemented. It’s absolutely wild. I was in high school in 2008. That’s when I graduated. I remember visiting the website they had up and wondering what was going on. I saw it opening weekend and was left amazed after watching.
Awesome video. JJ has said that the original Cloverfield Mo Star was just a baby, lost, scared and searching for its parents. I think the monster at the end of Paradox is one of its parents. This could put us in dimension A at the end of Paradox? There is also a red flash, which takes place on earth in Paradox that no one seems to be talking about.

Another thing to chew on is this...they find a baby Clover but no adults...assuming baby Clover is looking for its family when it wakes up...what if the space station wasn't the only thing that jumped. What if the parents of Clover jumped too...

@Pedro Henrique Caixeta. I think there are two monsters too. For some reason, I don't think that's the same monster at the end that we seen throughout the whole movie.
In the last scene we can hear bombs dropping far away, one second later the guy turn the camera and we can see that huge monster (mother) looking to the guy and eat him and we still hear bombs dropping far away (baby)
If we look at Scenario two, the ship is next to earth at the beginning for the movie, but when they travel to another dimension the ship is on the other side of the sun. This could mean the earth hasn’t reached the spot where the ship is in time, either being in the past or the future. Since the earth goes around the sun that could explain the time difference
This is the first example of "everything is moving but you" in hollywood time/dimensional travel I've seen. Of course, the galaxy and sun were moving as well...but, hey, let's give JJ a little credit. It reminds me of Futurama, when they had a one-way time machine, overshot their goal, and just kept going until the big crunch happened and started the universe over again. Determinism played out exactly as before, except that everything was 3" to the left.
I'm glad you say this because I have been thinking; If a time machine were built what would keep the traveler on the planet? Why not, when traveling to a time, would the person be sent to that exact spot in the universe? What glues them to the planet? In the film Interstellar there is mention of a time/gravity connection but...
SpleenieMartini That’s why a “time machine” would never work, it’s simply ridiculous to imply a machine could warp time and space. Worm holes in space are more plausible to bend time/space etc but they’re absolutely massive and still not fully understood in modern science. Either way, I like your comment, I also asked myself this question before after watching “The Time Machine” (2002).

I have a feeling that the object falling from the sky at the end of the first movie is the space station that was replaced in paradox. Seeing as how they have one of their shipmates in the wall, but an entire ship is missing. I think that's how it is connected.

What if what splashed down in 2008 was the brothers from another dimension from another space station and they lived all the events so they tried to prepare there new home by writing a book and building the bomb shelter but no one believes them also there behind the so called activist but dont get enough traction or bring enough awareness to whats about to happen

Well the bunker in Paradox is like, one room with a bed right there, while Howard's has different rooms all over. Not the same bunker

But it is stated that the space capsule is going to land off the coast of Delaware, and the object landed off the coast of Coney island, so it can't be the same object

The space capsule probably landed in their own universe in 2028. The broken “satellite” in cloverfield could possibly be the part of the Shepard that was separated off and found its way to 2008 in the cloverfield universe.

Except the battery technology we use for cars and all our tech, there isnt enough in the world to supply everything. Then people will say when recycle. Recycling is ran at huge loss, minus lead recycling. So eventually you are way past the 30 dollar/gallon per unit over power, and you have different problem with a similar tech. Solar has advanced at the speed of spear making over the last 50 years. Wind is problematic with animal and other life. The only 2 options for realistic world power, is hydroelectric and nuclear - environmentalist like neither....so what do you do.

Ean The Slusho drink appears in Both Fringe and Star Trek. Also in Star Trek you can see a skyscraper on Earth that has the Tagruato symbol and name on the building.
slusho first appeared in alias I think, and since fringe already said there must be infinite parallel universes and already explored the time travel thing, I guess every jj abrams movie/series is part of this multiverse, but I think both fringe universes has nothing to do with the paradox since the universes affected by walter's experiment were colliding, and there was only the 2 of them, I guess it was just a too small of an event to affect multiple universes at the same time or at full force like shepard did (besides, who knows, it could be the other way around, the cloverfield paradox could be what allowed walter to see or cross to the other universe)

It really isn't. Paradox ruined Cloverfield and made them abandon the plans for two more films they had or were gonna revamp into Cloverfield

My theory of Cloverfield
the piece of the Shepard satellite fell into the ocean therefore meaning that Paradox could be seen in all dimensions

In the Slusho truck back in Comic-Con,the truck tweeted their stops.Whats wrong with this?They sent these tweets from places that produce oil and power.That means Tagruato sent this food truck to waste the power in all these cities so they could build Shepard.Building Shepard would have given them unlimited power which they can only control,becoming the company that rules the world because of its power in oil and energy.Everyone would have to depend on Tagruato for energy,gas,and other resources.
And like since theres pieces of the space station in alternate dimensions the holes to these places would stay open since the piece never should exist in that universe.

First off, it's confirmed that the ChimpanzIII satellite was the one downed in the first movie, for unknown reasons. The three movies have no direct parallels to each other aside from being in the same multiverse, and each being an alternate reality from universe A, which is actually The Cloverfield Paradox. Paradox occurs in the original world in my theory because, simply put, it was their actions aboard the Shepherd that tore the fabric of the universe into glorified time-space confetti. The book that Mark Stambler has written is essentially about how the power of the Shepherd's LHC could potentially rip apart space-time, releasing "beasts, demons, and creatures of the sea". But he also specified a very interesting phrase, that it wasn't just in their universe, but "in every universe".
For my theory, Universe A of your theory is Universe D of mine. It's obvious that the Cloverfield 2008 universe is separate for several reasons. Nobody in the film ever talked about an attack in 2008, nor any alien strikes in 2016, when both would have had serious, lasting effects on each universe's history. I would argue that the only actual moment a character moved from one universe to another was in Paradox, and only upon the Shepherd firing under suboptimal conditions.
I think it would be more feasible that the rip in space-time originated in Universe A, but never seemed to ripple to B - the world the crew of Paradox ended up in after firing - because the Shepherd being dragged into that universe *was* their ripple. Even past that, I don't think that the destruction of the satellite in Paradox's universe B was caused by universe A, but rather their chosen technician failed at the task universe A's technician succeeded at, and it had fatal consequences for her crew. My other point for defending universe A as the originating universe is the phone - you can see all the happenings of both previous movies are currently happening everywhere, and it would only make sense that the universe that caused everything would be the most affected, since it was the origin of the tear.
I feel like a lot of this will be explained in Overlord, the next Cloverfield movie set in World War 2, and that this movie will most likely occur in its own timeline, which I am going to consider universe E.
A theory I have no way of backing up myself is that it seems the effects seem to go further and further back in time as the series progresses. It may be possible that, in a multiversal perspective, the rip is like a bomb that diminishes as it travels further and further. The boundary universes - like E, where Overlord will take place - are further in proximity from A than B (directly parallel), C (10 Cloverfield), and D (Cloverfield '08).
Any way, that's my two cents.

I’m not sure how much would be explained in Overlord, but I’m hopeful. Maybe since it takes place in WW2, we’ll get some background on to origins of Tagruato, since it was founded right after WW2. Though Overlord might also be suffering due to the effects of what the Shepherd team did. I agree that it most likely takes place in Universe E, and since Mark Stambler said in the clip that using the Shepherd would smash different universes, dimensions, and timelines together it makes sense.

When the first movie was released I explored the ARG, and this is my points now: In the first cloverfield movie, that satelite falling into the water is a kind of " generic beta test satelite" released by tagruato. In 2008, you could find a news on the tagruatu website about a missed satelite. There isnt a real link betwen that satelite and this new satellite in cloverfield paradox, for me, it is just a funny reference.
Second: I think the first monster is a kind of ancient monster, that fall on earth millions years before, when the worm hole dropped it in the past, and in 2008, tagruatu corp. found it and explored its nectar.

Awesome video man, when I first saw CP I was pretty much disappointed because I felt like the multidimensional plot was a cop-out as if Bad Robot was just too lazy to give us a real explanation for the original Cloverfield monster, but watching this video I’m a little at ease and accepting Cloverfield Paradox for what it is. I still wish they could of taken the movie in another direction, but seeing how everything is melding together now, it makes sense.

CZsWorld I believe that the shuttle from dimension D is what crashed in the water and that is what Ava's team saw on the intercom. Also I think that the reason the worms and the gyrosphere were in Volkov's body were because when they traveled in a different dimensiin, these certain things spawned in different places, just like Mina when she said she was walking down sector D but she was found in the wall with parts from the ship in her body. that's my theory

Good video, if there are multiple dimensions why does there have to be one group or Shepard? In Cloverfield Paradox there is literally another crew that were on their own Shepard. So what if there are more groups that we don't know about. The one we saw successfully went back to their dimension (dimension C) while another group may have traveled to another dimension (dimension A), that may have been another group crashing into the ocean in the first Cloverfield movie

One theory I've seen is that the object at the end of the first Cloverfield movie was actually a lost satellite from the Bold Futura subsidiary of Tagurato, and that it was the satellite that Howard Stambler mentions them losing at some point in the second film.

Abrams explains the Clover monster in Cloverfield is pretty much the tiny version (a baby, more or less). I'm assuming it could be possible that the Clover monster at the end of Cloverfield Paradox could be a full grown one that finally awoke? (Possible the mother???)

I like this theory that one Clover was a baby and one was the mom. This goes back to them honoring old movies of the past with creatures such as Godzilla and baby Godzilla. A major problem with most of your timeline theories is that Clover is killed at the end of Cloverfield, despite the words 'it's still alive' being said at the end of the credits if played in reverse. JJ Abrams has clearly stated that Clover was killed at the end of Cloverfield.

I'd like to think that if it's been confirmed that it died at the end of Cloverfield, the whole "it's still alive" thing could have been a hint that the story wasn't over. I think that'd be pretty neat to think they'd been planning this ever since 2008 or even before.

The problem I have with everyone's theory about the object falling straight into the ocean - satellites do not fall down in a straight line, intact. Have you ever seen one? They burn out in the atmosphere like a shooting star. They look like a tiny bit of orange lightning as they disintegrate. And they travel horizontally, because stable orbit is at 17000 mph. Apollo-type capsules also travel horizontally so they don't burn up on re-entry. Then, they deploy parachutes. It could just be the artists' idea of how a Liberty Bell would land, but this object is not a spacecraft as we know them.

Theory about good Schmidt and Traitor Schmidt. Schmidt is good in one universe but a traitor in the other, its also interesting how the tall woman and the Asian woman (sorry i forgot their names) had the same job in both timelines.
My theory is Schmidt and the Asian girl had feelings for each other and it was this love that made him stay true to his mission.

All 3 of these movies take place in a singular reality, just spread over multiple timelines. I believe that 10 Cloverfield lane takes place during AND after the events of the original film and that the only reason the giant monster isn't mentioned in cloverfield lane is because they're inside a bunker. The protaginist of lane leaves the city during (or maybe just after) the blackout from the first film which means she would have barely escaped before Clover started wrecking the city.
While in the bunker aliens arrived as a second wave, with Clover in this situation being a sort of Vanguard.
I theorize that the piece of shepard station that lands in the ocean at the end of the first movie is NOT in fact the pod containing the 2 survivors but just a random piece of debris thrown loose through space and time and that the survivors land on earth after the events of BOTH of the previous films. Evidence of this is that during Cloverfield Paradox the main character's husband sees clover through the smoke and rubble (and paradox takes place in america, the couple just happens to be from england, not living there...) and at the end of the 3rd film, the husband is screaming to stop the survivors of the space station from returning to earth because BOTH the giant monster AND the aliens from the second film are wreaking havoc on earth by this time.
Your theory is cool but other than the mirror universe see in Cloverfield Paradox there is nothing about the previous films to suggest that they take place in seperate realities. Only that they take place in seperate locations and windows of time
My theory is that it all will tie into an upcoming Godzilla movie where he battles all monsters and demons they'll call it Cloverfield kingdom of monsters.

I thought the satellite at the end of Cloverfield (2008) was a satellite that was in the same spot over their Earth (Dimension A) as the stations (in the other 2; Dimension C & D) that's why it crashed the same way the station (Dimension D) did...This would play into the multiple time lines (including Overlord's) as it shows that, like Stambler said; the PAST and the future. I think 'The Future' is a reference to Cloverfield 6 (the movie AFTER Overlord.). It's got Daisy Ridley (who worked with J.J. on Star Wars 7 & 9 and would be a nice little wink to 'the future' that star wars is set in. It's also a nod to the line in the opening crawl; Long ago. Get it? Like WW2, long ago...

Still doesn't change the theory, but...whose to say they won't have a surprise #5 next year drop how they did paradox this year...also, there are already rumors that multiple 'clover-esque' films are either in the works and/or have finished filming. I think that #5 is the mysterious "road closing" incident. Plus, there's a few weird things that people still haven't pointed out, like some numbers/references and more that I haven't seen anyone talking about. As well as similarities, like; Volkov exploding similar to Marlena; or questions like; If there were a whole bunch of eggs at the bottom of the ocean, what laid them? When did arrive? How come nobody saw it? If the monster in paradox is/might be the mom, is that the one that was seen earlier or a different one? Maybe the dad? What about the other eggs? What demons, cause we haven't seen any. There are rumors that Overlord has zombies in it...Where did they come from? and waaaay more...

Clover field movie one is in its own dimension. 10 clover field lane is the world that the Russian betrays the crew in clover field paradox. This means there are only 3 dimensions but at the end of paradox we see something fall into the ocean this could just be an alternate reality where something from 2008 fell back down because of the space station firing off in paradox causing their satellite in 2008 to randomly fall out of the sky. Then they show a huge clover at the end to show how the world in dimension A of the original clover field movie is now. So they basically show the origins to the other two movies coming from what happens in paradox in 2028. That’s why the poster has two lines going away from the words cloverfield paradox because they both branch out of just this one time lines mistakes.

I was even thinking that the two lines on the Cloverfield poster aren’t finished yet. Since the original Cloverfield poster doesn’t have any of those lines it might be like a separate entity, and 10 Cloverfield connects to the bottom line on the Paradox poster, but I think that there’s a piece missing, possibly the next Overlord movie will fit into that place and connect to yet another movie. I think there was another one confirmed for the fifth movie in the series but I can’t remember the title.

This was the best video I've seen so far about these movies.
there are only 2 dimensions. the one in paradox and the one they travel to. cloverfield lane cloud have happened in either dimension. cloverfield is happaning at the same time as paradox, just because they use older phones and tech in the movie doesn't mean much to the story that's being told. like the older alien franchise movies and the new ones, they're tech is completely different even guns, but they all happen around the same timeframe its just the tech is gonna be diffrent after some years. back in 2008 they didnt have the scripts nor the money at the time to make movie after movie. but becides that it isnt just clover attacking, it could be more then one of them and not only that the aliens are there too just in diffrent places. remember dimensions are infinite so a rip in that could send a clusterfuck of god knows what everywhere in all of spacetime and the earth in the movie. and last of all at the end of paradox, on the phone the man says, and focus on the quotations "your having them come back "earth"? "do they know whats happaing "here?" "your having her come back with these "things." plural.
I don't know man - the ARGs are giving some definite answers. Like the Cloverfield is happening in 2008 and (although I am not sure if there is any contradictory that Lane cannot be happening in 2008 just a different place), falling object in Cloverfield is a satelite, the monster is killed (confirmed by Abrams in a short interview). I am afraid fans will be let down (and I would love to be wrong) and the franchise will end up as sh*t by demolishing what we had previously seen and considered to be "given"... : (
