Great reading! Truly enjoy how you change your intonation so that the listener can tap into the story’s emotion. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Reminds me of those old time radio dramas and “the theater of the mind”. 👏🏾👏🏾 Appreciated!
So rare to see this late 18th century sci fi. I really enjoyed these. Interesting to see how much more focused on biology they were than modern sci fi.
very good reading, especially the last story, which was the best, i think. i’m not sure i already said this, but it is so fab to find finally someone who reads scifi stories so well so to be enjoyable to listen to. Thanks much. :) 🔬🔭🚀🌷🌱
I just discovered your channel William. You have a fantastic voice! Thank you for reading these classic short stories, most of them I am unfamiliar with, but not the authors. Best regards from across the pond! 👍👍👏👏👏
I enjoy your work and you narrate with excellent tone and affect. Would you consider a location that would render less of an “echo” for your reading? I am hoping you will find this feedback helpful.
Thanks for saying so. These stories were recorded quite a while ago - now I have improved my setup to avoid too much reverb from the room. It's not perfect yet, but more recent stories are less echo-ey. Hopefully at some point I'll have a new space and setup for even better quality. Thanks again!
The Time Machine... While there are various movies based on it, our favorite: 1960 film “The Time Machine.” Rod Taylor (who played H. George Wells), Alan Young (who played David Filby), and Yvette Mimieux (who played Weena)
I was thinking much the same thing. He truly “saw the future” before its time. The description of a petrol-driven, fixed-wing, propeller (screw) aeroplane was years ahead of its time! Maybe he did have a Time Machine! 😉 Very well read short stories that put feeling into the narrative.
Originally it was to highlight the different parts of language (nouns, verbs, etc.) for general interest and for non-native English listeners. However, I ditched it after a few videos because it didn't really have the desired effect and only made it harder to read. So now all the videos just have simple white text.
absolutely two delights; the writing and the reading..really well done.Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
These stories a gems and underline Wells' genius. Beautifully read.
I really enjoyed discovering and sharing them. Thanks for the comment!

19th century
@@PenRippyJr Lel... writing fiction has stripped me of the ability to add and subtract by one.
H G Wells studied biology under Thomas Henry Huxley.

Wells was ahead of his time; ie his story about the 'first' flight.. He wrote more than the classis War of the Worlds.

H G Wells Stories are Timeless and worth reading as Bedtime Stories to older Children instead of TV, or just for personal pleasure?
They certainly are!
The cursed Henry Kissinger once said that academic disputes are so vicious because the stakes are so small
Old Henry has finally come to his ... end now.
Is the stakes were small, why would they evoke such strong emotional responses?
@@conephompanybecause, given the innocuous outcome of such debates, one can afford to be vicious without the threat of any harm coming to anyone.
Cursed?
By cursed do you mean greedy evil monster?
He was evil incarnate .
Is there a purpose to the choice of colour switching for the words?

A long time ago, there lived a man called Alan. Then he died.

Sounds like Malcolm McDowell.
