- "From Zero to Hero"
After a string of unexpected delays, the time for the final showdown has arrived at last! I'll be honest. I was a bit pressed for time on this one, and I decided to do these fights separately. That kind of takes away a bit of the luster on this one, but with the way things go, I think it works out well in the end.
We didn't rescue Zero on the main file, now did we? I hope you're ready to take on one of the toughest fights in this game then... pending you don't figure out the key to his pattern early on. A recurring theme with these final fights is to keep ahead of your enemy, but not by so much that you run right into their attacks!
Whether you've saved Zero or not, Sigma will be waiting for you at the end. In a normal playthrough, the second half of this one is rather trivial. When trying not to get hit, that phase can be a nightmare as it only gets harder the farther it goes along. Can I keep the precision up long enough to claim my ultimate victory? Well...

If you’re wondering why the last stage of Sigma’s second Fortress has the exact same opening sequence of Magna Centipede’s stage, let me explain.
Magna Centipede had a pretty important role in the plans of the X-Hunters and Sigma. He wasn’t just a random Maverick who Sigma got a hold of and made into a loyal soldier, but the actual cornerstone of Sigma’s plans (At the time of X2). Centipede has the unique ability to infect enemies with a computer virus, and when paired with the Central Computer that he’s found in and the Maverick virus, can transmit that virus all over the world, making more Reploids go Maverick, making more soldiers for Sigma’s cause. Of course, X does indeed defeat Centipede and shuts down the computer transmitting the virus. That’s why Sigma has the same layout as Centipede’s opening stage, because should Centipede fall, Sigma can still transmit the virus without skipping a beat.
Further food for thought is why there’s searchlights all over both stages. It looks as though it’s to keep X out, but a more startling thought is it was designed to keep Centipede in, should he wrestle free from Sigma’s control and try to escape. Quite a grim fate for the once-Maverick Hunter.

you gotta love that sigma uses the very weapon that he was weak against in X1, E spark, as his strongest attack against you. That is poetic symmetry.
Yet he doesn't continue that trend with subsequent installments. He definitely doesn't use Sonic Slicer in MMX3.

Also, Omega in Z3 uses Iris’s weakness Ryuenjin, to rub salt into Zero’s wound.

Wireframe Sigma has always creeped me out. I don't know why. He just has that perfect late 90's uncanny valley quality to him, borderline creepy, borderline hilarious.
This game was bizarre.
I know Sigma's final form is still sprite based, but it's insanely impressive to look like a 3D wireframe!
I think it might actually be 3d in the same way as StarFox
X2 and X3 had a special chip that allowed them to do wireframe graphics, so it is actually in realtime
Being hit only once in a battle like this is still very impressive. I played this game for a long time, and I still found myself hitting a Sub-Tank to survive. You should still be proud, for whatever it's worth.
Gotta give sigma one thing. He didn't even have a second robot body this time, was out powered and still continued to fight.
the doctor mentioned by Sigma, is so obviously Doctor Albert Wolfgang Wily.

Well, it was a bummer at the time, but I think the MMX3 playthrough made up for it!
Must say, it was hard enough for me to get through the Zero/Wolverine Sigma/Neo Sigma lineup without using an E tank let alone no damage.
The boss was so cheap that that one hit doesn't change a thing about anyone's skill at the game especially in the first phase which was done perfectly.
Yup I have to admit they could've done SOMETHING to make the final boss not cheap

Well, the charged Electric Spark does make sense, when you think about it. It was his weakness in the first game. Maybe when he resurrected himself, he used a form that would specifically deal with that power.

The Central CPU is also fitting given that Magna Centipede is the only boss that fought the Mavericks.Another fitting thing.This level has an insect as the first boss.Sigma said he would crush you.Instead,you crushed him like an insect.

It's weird that if you select Magna Centipede's stage, it takes you to the X-Hunter Fortress Stage 5, but only if you unlock it. Sigma takes over Magna Centipede's stage, and then makes it his own stage. I'm glad something like that does not happen anymore like X3-8, but I did not like Megaman X6-8. In my opinion, X7 is the worst, but I think most people say that X8 is the worst, but in my opinion, X8 is horrible, but not as horrible as X6-7, but I do like going into 2D to 3D in X7-8.
@@megamegasamx1014 I usually find people saying about the last in the category is the worst. X8 probably would have been my favorite if Dr. Light capsule still appeared for other characters to give to X, it was not for the limited retries, and there were checkpoints for if I ran out of lives. In the X Collection, my favorite was X5, but that was probably in a messed up version, because the hours of collision only move by one when I select a stage, but in X Legacy Collection, X4 is my favorite, because in X5, the hours of collision go down by one when I select a stage, and it even goes down while I'm in a stage.

X2 is faster...until you get the stupid x-buster upgrade that stops you completely whenever you fire a double charged shot
But admit, the double shot is the best buster upgrade in the x series
It ignores I Frames, so technically it may be the best upgrade.

I think its funny that Sigma uses Spark Mandrill's weapon from MMX, as that was his weakness in MMX, right down to the charged attack. Even uses the same sound effects.

In the first four Mega Man X games, this one always felt like the 'black sheep' of Sigma fights. X1, X3, and X4 would all kill me pretty quickly until I learned their attack patterns. Died a bunch on those, but can now get through with minimal damage due to sheer repetition. This one here I can pretty much brute force my way through on the first attempt everytime because he doesn't pack a huge punch and Phase 2 has enemies that drop health. But the patterns are actually tricky and erratic that I take a frustrating amount of damage in the process. Way more than any of the other three.
Fun fact. Speed burner actually fires an extra projectile while on the ground. The trail of flames it leaves behind have a hurtbox. Zero can slash down the main blast, but the ground trail will still hit him in the foot.
Pointless to get the good ending when the bad ending literally has the most epic Mega Man battle ever.

The true implication of the bad ending may be something a bit dark, that the real Zero's mind wasn't actually restored and X is being fooled, hence why the fake Zero appears at the very end. But that is admittedly kind of a reach.
This thread was never picked up again. Though it’s quite possible Z3’s Omega has that mind.
Virus sigma in x2 is my favorite Sigma battle music of all time. It best represents saving the world and being on the edge of doom and destruction for all of mankind 👍

I also always wondered why they just reused a part of Centipede's stage, probably more cutting room stuff if the X-Hunters were an indication? Plus, the way they triggered it, you can't actually revisit the rest of stage in case you didn't get particular items now could you?
Looking forward to whenever you get around to X3, personally my second favourite of the SNES games, but after seeing this playthrough, I'm a lot of fonder of X2 now than before.
Both the Sub and Heart Tanks are actually in the first half of the stage, so you can snag em even after its converted to X Hunter Final

Hey guys, creating a Megaman X FanGame, called Megaman Darkworld.
The game has 12 playable characters, and 3 game modes: versus mode, story mode 2 Players Co-Op and 1 player.
Soon I will be posting an updated demo of the project.
Opinions here: Which Zero segment is "Canon"? I say the one where X successfully rebuilds Zero and he comes and stops silver Zero.
Tbh it makes more sense that he rebuilds Zero, but i think it's one of those cases were both can be canon as the future of the series never aknowledges which one actually happened

I never understood, your reward for saving Zero before the final stage is not being able to experience true pure unadulterated vidya KINO in the first ever X vs. Zero battle ever. It's better to not save him and fight him IMO.
But if you fix him, it saves hassle health wise before sighting Sigma, that’s for sure.
The battle with Zero was pretty dramatic. X was literally forced to fight against his own best friend, who died in the previous game.

Magna Centipede's stage is very important in MMX2. Everyone seems to meet there. It has 2 mini bosses and lots of blue prints and robot designs. I think Capcom should've used the Ending theme for the 2nd Sigma battle. It would've really been fitting.

Megaman, lights first creation, then X is his 2nd. And light always boasts how, "oh you're my kids, blah blah..."so by definition, X and megaman are siblings, and the cooler one, X is the originals younger brother. Similar to the wily bros, bass and zero

Here's a little easter egg/secret for you to try, beat the game without collecting ANY capsule power-ups (armor) for a surprise in the credits. Sub and heart tanks and optional Zero parts are allowed although, good luck getting the Wheel Gator's heart tank without the charged up Speed Burner though.

it is because you did collect Zero's parts in the game, when you do not collect them, you face zero in the final stage.

The Zero that shoots the Capcom logo is actually red or black depending on the parts. If you get all of them it will be red, if you don't it will be black Zero.
