It really is a pleasure to see someone go up there and not have a confederate flag strapped to their back screaming MAGA and we can all enjoy their respect and actual personality
@Opamigaaa Don't worry heard they have an opening for dummies to test blades. Sign up for it & go first you won't ever have to hear him say it I promise.
My girlfriend and I are mesmerised by forges/bladesmithing because of this show. Man at arms is also pretty great too. Shows like this are slowly coming through into the UK and its great!
my favorite things about Forged in Fire is how little drama there is on the show among the constants and judges. They're all so respectful and constructive. .
51:32 I kid you not...I was thinking how I'd love to hear Doug say Inigo Montoya's line from The Princess Bride.....and HE ACTUALLY SAID IT!!! Doug is officially the coolest guy on the planet.
I love seeing the competitors revert to the child-like excitement when their blades absolutely decimate the dummies. Especially when they grab each other's arms/shoulders, or when they hi-five, etc. Everybody on this show has fun.
What's funny is I have nothing invested in any of these blades, but I can feel the anxiety building in me during the testing, especially the strength tests!
To everyone complaining that they aren't using the swords for practical purposes, read this: The competition, first of all, was made to test swordsmiths to their limits. If you're just using the swords practically, none of the flaws in the smithing will be seen. This means there is no true loser or winner, unless the smith made a major mess up. Second of all, it's Reality TV. It's supposed to be entertaining. People who watch the show are looking for something different than everything else already online and on TV about swords.
Everybody is always talking about how useless the kill test is, because, yes of course every weapon will kill, but the kill test is to show if the weapon fulfills it's purpose, like if a specific weapon can chop off heads
@@shawtyduwop3076 You got to do a few years of armed martial arts training, or weapon master training to be hired as a sword demonstrator on a TV show like that, for image and safety.
This show brings back an important part of history , that is swordsmen and swordsmakers , because human history was made by the sword , whether our stomach can take that or not !
Jason's cutlass is amazing. Impressive kill test result, survived the strength test, looks nice and yet light and well balanced. Impressive all round craftsmanship.
I think the bend test for the rapiers was the most nerve racking and hardest thing to watch then any ice block chop. That poor guy, it didn’t go back to true enough for him to continue competing even though it didn’t break!
38:56 Look at that gorgeous smile, the wheel of pain makes me feel so uncomfortable. I love this show and just about everyone in the competition is a cool dude. Also seeing someone fails to met the parameters/catastrophic failure make me sad, i want them all to make it to the end.
People really underestimate how much protection a shirt gives from a blade. Those swords would have CLEAVED through the dummies if they didn’t have the cloth in between them and the blade.
I don't get how Thomas lost at 47:00. All the compliments, the way it functioned, the fact that it beat his competitors blade in every category of the test. This should have easily gone to him. His blade was vastly superior.
Do not mistake what I am saying as an insult to their skill because they are all very talented, but I truly do not understand why anyone makes a round handle on anything that is not supposed to be specifically designed that way.
I think a lot of these guys make display weapons because basically no one actually uses swords any more. You can see how a lot of the round grips are also more decorative.
27:26 it’s at this moment that i’m amazed this judge still has the capacity to shake this contestants hand. i mean obviously there’s some dramatisation to this television show, but i mean when the whole blade just snaps off...is there not some sort of potential for it to ricochet and seriously injure someone on the set? some mistakes and errors in design i think are forgivable, others however (such as this one) where someone’s safety is at risk due to the contestants negligence in the weapons construction i just think is inexcusable
4:30 This is why the Japanese katana can have its handle held by just a single small wooden pin, even through battle. The fit is so snug and glove tight it negates how the break happened.
Charlemagne's sword was named Joyeuse. "Merry" (feminine) in french. Bonus fact : Arguably, Joan of Arc might have had a vision about where the sword was buried, and found it near a church

HISTORY sure
Please dubb it in bengali language.
Have you considered release a few "Full Episodes?" There's so much that we are missing. Even if it were the older seasons. Please!
can we have a 2 v 2 contest :D it will be so much fun to watch i can stop watching your episodes
Main attraction of the show dough and his kill test
The amount of respect on this show is so great to see. No hate, no ego, just passion for what they are doing. Love it.
It really is a pleasure to see someone go up there and not have a confederate flag strapped to their back screaming MAGA and we can all enjoy their respect and actual personality

Maybe i should change my hobby and passion from video games to blade smithing

kinda thought about smithing just for fun myself, but it sure aint cheap tog et the right materials
Perfectly said bro,and very unbiased opinions. The best blade always wins. I love how they are real and don’t pick favorites

Humble and passionate contestants. Knowledgeable and fair judges. Exciting and creative tests.
Best. Competition show. Ever.
I love this show! Now all they need to do is release a few full episodes. There is SOOO much more to this show.
And of course

My ex and I would binge this show all the time, it was a great compromise between something I find interesting and the cooking shows she enjoyed lol
Plot twist: Doug uses the kill tests to satisfy his bloodlust and keep him from going berserk on the human race
😂
I thought I was the only one with this thought. 🤣
That's not a plot twist that's just facts
this is canon
Correct, he told me.
I don't know why I smile when I hear doug say "it will keeel"
Who doesn’t
Because he smiles like an excited puppy when he says it, so it's impossible not to do the same
Don’t worry, we all do :))

One thing I absolutely love about this show (among many things) is the sportsmanship and humility between competitors. It’s fantastic to see.
Seeing blades break is heartbreaking. :(
That crystalline sound is worse
I feel awful for them when that happens 💔😢😭
Yes like I be feeling like crying sometimes 😂😂😂
The first claymore episode hurt on a physical level
Contestants take the heart break well and the experts are equally as gutted but give amazing advice
The purpose of this show is just so that Doug can find the best smith to make him the perfect sword to dominate mankind.
One day...
He will find the perfect blade... to KEAL.
you know how many weapons theyve had turned in? they could arm all the peasants

Normal human behavior
And that goes double when J is the one doing it
Yeah, especially that rapier test
Doug Marcaida is poetry in motion, I like the slow motion action that shows his form all the way through the test.
Wil always hitting a catastrophic failure competitor with the disappointed father look. Hurts every time.

Ikr and its so cool to watch
I agree! Aside from Doug's signature "it will KEEEL" remark; I always am excited with Doug's observations and comments, the man knows his stuff! 👏 👍
I honestly think it's so Doug can say what's going on with the blade in terms of oddities and weight so the other judges know what to expect
Some weapons didn't pass the kill test, like the crossbow and claymore one...
I've seen some rare ones when Doug says ... It will NOT KEEL
Doug: "your weapon.. will keal"
me: *gulps*
The quality of that cutlass was godlike
24:38 Doug is here just to quench his bloodthirst😂😂
5:10 "I came here to prove that I can work with the big dogs" immediately cuts to showing how short he is.

yeah for sure
It felt that Thomas had the lighter, sharper and better sword.
Didn't understand why Thomas lost. I'll have to find the episode so I can see what happens from beginning to end.
They should get all the winners and put their blades to the final test. A battle royale.
