Seiko will always be one of my favorite brands. It's quality for little money and I think lots of the watch world and business owns a lot to Seiko for not only giving people the itch for watches, but for helping the business in general. Seiko for life.
Love your videos. They speak to me! Watch collecting is non-sensical, yet we spend so much time rationalizing it.

I got this watch recently. I love it. Matthew mcconaughey’s character had an orange dialed doxa. This was a way to get an orange dialed diver style watch with a gmt for a fraction of the cost. I put it on a strap code Beads of rice bracelet despite the new jubilee style bracelet being a huge improvement over what came on my skx007. It will find a home in my skx009 though.
I’ve really been enjoying it and find it more versatile than you’d think with our culture becoming more and more casual.

Great video! I also picked up the orange one. Seiko hit it out of the park on these. Every Watch collection should have one..just buy one if you’re on the fence.

Just got my SSK-003 blueberry on sale from Marc at Long Island Watch. The subtle 2-tone bezel is a nice touch, and as a guy who doesn’t always wear my glasses, I appreciate the cyclops. My only complaint, and it’s a minor one, is that the 24-hour markers on the rehot can be tough to see - nearly vertical and rather small. Terrific value for the price and it has become my default travel watch.
Great video! It's going to help Seiko sell a lot of these because the footage looks amazing. I hope Seiko gives you a commission. Also, can't wait to see Citizen/Bulova and microbands use the new Miyota true GMT movement in some actual sports watches. The debut Bulova watch leaves a lot to be desired.

I swore off cheap Seikos ten years ago when i got my first office job. Until this one got announced. No one can deny the charm and value here.

There is no reason to swear off cheap Seikos unless it's just a matter of show off. Seiko are quality made watches and has been for ages. I am glad you got the itch back. This is indeed a beautiful watch. Grand Seiko might be the next step.

Terrific video format. Love the style. I bought the orange seiko 5 without GMT before the release of the GMT line. I am so tempted now learning about the bi finish bezel. Sighh another itch
the orange is excellent if you want a bright and loud piece. personally it's not for me but i can see a majority of people loving it. blue's my personal favorite, but all 3 are absolutely amazing. i'm also curious how independent and microbrands will start using this new GMT caliber.

Fan of your channel and reviews! Didn't think I would own a Japanese watch in my current collection but when this watch came out, caught my eye. Tried the regular seiko 5 version and was ok with it, returned it.
But after watching your review and I got 25% off, tried this one out and have added it to my collection (prx and legend diver). Only had it for a week and tried on the Rolex Explorer GMT with jubilee recently at a AD, this Seiko more than holds its weight, love the colour, perfect summer watch, joked with my buddies, this is a Rolex-lite jubilee. Will mod the bezel and glass down the road after it scratches but for now it's a wonderful daily piece. Loved your comment, its like your fave fast-food or I call it the franchise family restaurants like Boston Pizza/Montanas or heard it called a Honda/Toyota.

That colour is definitely very summer and poppy! My big issue is with the cyclops crystal... I need reading glasses, so it should be a big plus! But from a design point of view, I just can't get around buying a watch with that crystal. Silly, I know, but so is this hobby.
I’m guessing it can be removed. I’ll bet people are already doing it.

This feels relatively strange given that my first watch was a SRPD57. It's like I got memory holed and my watch line was completely renamed. Excellent video as always!

Pretty cool! I'm with you-orange is the way to go. The orange Monsters and the orange SKX are both in my watch box. Another orange beaut that I'm currently hunting for a deal on is the Bulova Oceanographer "Devil Diver" 96B350-what a knockout! For divers and dive-inspired watches, I'm always drawn to dials in orange or white. Functionally, orange gives very high readability at depth.

Excellent choice and congrats! Orange would have been my choice too....had this been a "traveler" GMT. I'll hold out for Seiko to put together something like this using the Sharp Edged GMT movement (cal 6R64) inside, minus power reserve display. Yeah, I know, the price will be higher. But not THAT much higher, I'd hope (wishful thinking).

I’ve wanted this watch since it came out. Finally found one at a nicely reduced price and picked it up. Did the fact I’ve seen this video about 9 times contribute to the purchase? Perhaps.
Tbh I dont care about a gmt function. I dont travel frequent enough to ever need a watch with this complication and even if I would I would probably just look at my phone to find out. But I do love the looks of a gmt watch and thats enough for me. At the end of the day watches are nowadays are pieces of jewerly or status, depending on who you ask

Hi Evan. Like many of us, love your channel and delivery. Very British humour that appeals. The ribbing sarcasm and quirky attitudes are great. I have no affinity to Seiko unfortunatly. I appreciate the longevity and place of the brand, but the low build quality and lack of accuracy.... Emmmm.. notwithstanding the lower prices... kinda puts me off personally.
Don't disagree with much you say. But a previous comment about the lack of accuracy of Thier movements. You made the quip that if it bothers you you should buy a quartz....
That's simply not true, as sure you know... You can get plenty of very accurate mechanical movements. My Omega Aqua Terra is on my wrist, and is currently +1 seconds as I write this. Not a day. But +1 since I bought it 10 months ago!! I simply alter it's resting position to regulate it. Have never had to reset it, apart from using the jumping hour hand to set BST in March....
I know it's a more expensive watch than most Seiko's blah blah. But to me the point is that mechanicals like the 8900 Coaxial genius movement in it, can satisfy OCD types who like precision. As well as all the other nice things that a mechanical watch brings.

Oh, yes... a cheap and cheerful 37mm travel companion that won't get you mugged in the park. I'd love that to happen. In the meantime, I'm waiting for more microbrands to do their thing with this new NH-34 caliber. 😁

I have placed my Seiko 5 GMT in the drawer of my desk, and I wear the Casio MRW-200H as my everyday watch. I'm not sure why, but for me, they are the perfect timepieces...
They are nice watches. But I'd rather have the old SKX with 200m water resistant and day/date complication. I wish that Seiko would make an updated version of that. With the new jubilee bracelet.
they'll release a new version soon enough...it'll be 2k and probably limited edition, but they'll release it

I cannot recommend this Seiko, as I bought it two months ago-an orange Seiko GTM-and it loses a couple of minutes per day, with the power reserve lasting only four and a half hours. Is this normal, or is the watch faulty? I appreciate any tips. I've taken it twice to the store where I purchased it, and they told me I need to manually wind the crown. The issue is that, even when I wind it, the power only lasts for four and a half hours. I’m not sure if this is normal, but I’ve stopped using the watch because, after two months, it makes me late for work. Thank you.
Yeah I will definitely buy that .... movement, in an Homage watch at a much lower price but better build quality. Awesome movement.

Great review as always! I really love that Seiko now releases an affordable GMT watch after all those years. I bought the blue one and I'm totally happy with it!
One comment on the bracelet: I still own the 'original' SKX and the bracelet is much more flexible and 'cheaper' feeling than the new one. The tolerances on the new one are tighter. So there is definitely a noticable improvement when comparing both watches side by side.
I agree. New jubilee bracelet is a big improvement. And i also love that with new Seiko GMT movement we will see a lot of affordable microbrand GMT's in the future.
@@devileanblack True, but tbh I prefer to old jiggly one?! I love that feel of an 70s / 80s style watch were even Rolexes had such jiggly bracelets. I do like the added comfort due to the flexibility.
Orange Seiko divers are iconic! It's the only color to have imho. 👍
Beautiful production as always. The green table remind me of a Wes Anderson film. On the watch, I found it too thick and the GMT hand doesn’t ever hit the hour marker evenly (I looked at 3). Even at the price it’s sadly a pass for me.
Looks like your chapter ring is miss aligned as well. Seems like 99% of them are. Only the j1s are lined up it seems

I often need the time in Spain. It is 7 hours ahead of me. It is almost as simple to add 7 in my head as to look at a global time hand. I still have the two tone Rolex GMT Master but I’m in the age when I will sell it to someone with less self confidence than me. I wear a Casio Oceanus, the most trouble free watch that is not a digital.

Speaking of accuracy...just got mine today and out of the box it was -16/day. After cracking open the case back and about 15 min of frustrating trial and error (and luck), I got it to +2/day.

I'd snap this up in a heartbeat if it had the Miyota 9075 movement. That 'jumping in one direction' caller GMT hand is not for me (that's MY problem). I'd even be able to overlook the few changes I'd like to see; Flat non-reflective bezel and I agree the hands and indices should all be silver w/ white numbers on the bezel. They had me at Orange.
when will they release a replacement for skx013..37mm diver watch..most of these new 5kx are almost the same size as skx007

These pictures from the Seiko website that you also use at 1:56 are so d@mn misleading. The black looks as if it is sunburst, but in reality it is just plain boring black, kinda matte. The one you went with is probably the most stunning one.

Many are made in Malaysia, it’s still a very real Seiko
