Yay!!! It's so special when you discover a game that just works on every level for you right?? Sometimes it feels like that's the holy grail that keeps us buying and trying more and more and more games... I really hope you get a chance to try this one and look forward to hearing your thoughts! 💕
Love the energy in your videos! Definitely have dominant specifies marine on my list of games to play now! The trait cards are really nifty too! Glad I found you through Tim’s giveaway! 🐺🐺🐺
Just the information I needed before picking this one up. My wife loves the original Dominant Species and this video helped me SO much. Thank you for all your hard work. I will now be watching all your videos! 🐺
Love you both! You always make me feel good and I enjoy sitting with my Thinker Themer coffee cup and watching you both. Dominant Species Marine looks very good. 🐺
The crustacean god bit cracked me right up. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, because I recently picked up a copy from my FLGS. Really excited to get it to the table now! Thanks for the great review.
I love you guys. I ran across Maggie as a guest on another channel and then again on your Imperium Classics video. I guess you guys are just part of my life now. Thanks for your content. 🐺
Heheh it's not often where you play a game for the first time and you just smile because it feels like you understand exactly what the designer was going for... this one just brings me pure joy. Thanks for watching Craig and hope you get to try it out!
I’ve been thinking about this game for a while. Thanks so much for your thoughtful insights! And thanks to Tim for directing me here. Good luck on your march to 10K!🐺
Wolf pack, 10k lets gooooo!!!!!! 🐺🐺 love how y’all organized your BoardGames in the back, this game looks dope I love worker placement games might buy this one
I really enjoy your format for reviewing, touching upon the different aspects of the game so distinctly. Especially the "is it mean?" question near the end - as a player in a mostly co-op group, this piece of info is very important! 🐺
Hahaha I couldn't help myself with this one... it suits my preferred game styles so well!!! Definitely not completely carebear proof but thanks for watching anyway and hope you've found some games in 2021 that make you smile as much as this one does for me! 💖
@@ThinkerThemer I've only played lighter games from 2021: So Clover, Cascadia, Super Mega Lucky Box, and Inkling. I liked all four games, but I really, really liked So Clover! I do have a couple high-conflict games on my shelf of opportunity because one of my game groups is into that sort of thing. I am actually interested in trying Kemet for example. We'll see :D
Love how you present the thinker and theme viewpoints. this has really helped my wife and I see games in ways we enjoy with myself loving theme first and my wife looking at the thinker aspect. 🐺
Your reviews are so comprehensive, and absolutely top notch. You're both fantastic and give each other such excellent space to express about a game. Well organized...simply fantastic.
Ashleigh thank you for leaving such a thoughtful comment... it really made our day and it means so much to us to have this feedback. Thanks for watching and for the support 💕
Thanks for putting this game in my radar. I'm always looking for a good worker placement game, so I look forward to picking this up in the near future! 🐺
Omg I love you guys! You 2 really have something with this channel. Me and my gf are just like you 2 (me more about mechanics and her about theme) this is great content! 🐺
What a surprise for the number one pick if this year! I heard about it, but it quickly got overshadowed by other releases this year. So glad to hear what it has to offer and it sounds crunchy but very thematic. What a treat! I really enjoy these deep dives into the number one picks and I'm hoping we get Maggie's number one or even future potential deep dives. Number one rondel, number one deck building, etc... Thanks for the lovely content as always and have a good one!
Thanks so much Ania!!! Glad you are enjoying this format 😄 we took a shortcut on our top lists and decided to start at the best!!! 🥰 hope you get a chance to try out this game sometime. 💕
Wish I could be counted again to help get you over 10K, but I wouldnt take back all the joy I've had watching you already. 🐺 💜 You've definitely got me interested in this game. I think I'm slightly more of a themer, but the combination of mechanics speaks to the thinker part of me. As always, love your videos and look forward to Tuesdays in NZ. 🙃🐺
I started watching this channel after watching you play cartographers with SUSD and I have been binging hard your small talk videos! Love how you interact with each other and love how you answer all your fan mail! Tim Chuon (who I also started watching recently) wants us to pass on our love of you! Keep up the amazing videos! 🐺
Hi again ladies! Another great video. This game wasn’t on my radar at all for some reason. Seems right up my alley! I’m gonna check it out now. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Have been hearing it's quite hard to find in some places now...? Hopefully another reprint is coming soon 🤞 thank you for watching as always! ❤
Love the fact that you are both into this as I’m also in a thinker themer house and I agree the worker placement and the bit of a different twist here is genuine. Appreciate how your videos are always so informational, yet in easily digestible bites 🐺
So surprised by this pick! I remember a quick mention you had picked it up on a recommendation I believe. It had totally fallen off my radar! I have not played it or the original. I went searching for it and seems to be out of stock everywhere in the US. I will keep looking, I am so interested in playing this one now! Thanks so much for a great surprise video! Now I can’t wait for Maggie’s video!
Yes!! Sarah from boardgamebbq knows my taste very well and when she said I needed to get it I didn't hesitate to buy it... and she was spot on! I think you can preorder it cheaply if you're willing to wait for the next print run with GMT (according to another viewer here!) But otherwise let's find a copy at DTW and I'd love to play with you! Thanks for watching as always 💕
This was a great rundown of the game! Your love for this game was infectious, I wasn’t interested in this game at all before but it’s on my wishlist now. 🐺
You two are absolutely my favorite content creators that I discovered in 2021. So glad that you're part of the community and please keep being such an insightful pair 🐺
I'm glad to say I was a subscriber of your channel from before Tim 🐺 sent me here because you are doing awesome work. I like the depth vs theme dichotomy you are always exploring because I'm a person to whom both matter a lot. Keep up the amazing work!
I absolutely love your review style! This is perfect for my wife and I. She has a hard time playing games that don't immediately grab her visually or theme wise, while I am the kind of person who will happily sit down and read an entire rule book. I'll have to ruminate on this one a bit more but it is definitely on a want to play list of mine. Thank you for the wonderful content! 🐺
This top-notch review makes me wish I lived down on your patch of the ol' dirtball, so I could enjoy a play of this superb game with you two! One quibble, and I'm sure it wasn't intentional on your parts: each of the four animals is a *class* of animal comprised of numerous species. Being an old wargamer at heart, both of the Dominant Species games will always be favorites of mine; I particularly enjoy, as Amy apparently does, the mix of "take that" competition on the main board with the complexities of the decision tree on the action display. I've not played it two-handed, and am glad to hear it works well at that count. With my crew, I prefer it at the full four-count; the interplay is outstanding! And, yes, Maggie is right on in her bemusement at the nature of each player's role thematically. It's the same with the original game: how to explain each animal's ability to manipulate \ influence its environment. It's very godlike, isn't it? Poof! Let there be Land! Let there be Ocean! Let there be sudden bursts of hydrothermal activity! Let those who have wandered too far astray pay the price of their daring! Good thing there's a built-in time limit to all this nadness! ...") Now, excuse me while I go imbue my creatures with the ability to extract energy from a totally new food source! Agricola remains my all-time favorite WP game (and likely always will), but the DS games (and this one perhaps even more so than the original, thanks to its streamlining) have definitely given it a run for its money. Again, great review, really excellent presentation that affirmed what my next pick will be with my crew when my turn comes up in the rotation again!
🐺 thank you for the review of this game. I love this channel and the enthusiasm you ladies bring! Back chat has been my go to video to give me a sense of Kickstarters to back or not to back.
wow this game has always on my list, looking forward to add it to my shelf! btw I really like how you two talk about different aspects of the game! really good content!!🐺🐺🐺
Many thanks to Tim for introducing your channel to me 🐺🐺🐺. I'm loving your content, especially as you guys have similar perspectives as me and my wife. It's easy to find a game that I'd like, but seeing which ones would also be fun for her to play with me is so helpful!
"Thematically I still don't quite understand what my role is, because how do I have so much control as a reptile, or even as a crustacean, over how the elements work? ... I'm a crustacean god!" This whole spiel made me laugh louder than I should have, woke up my SO, lol. I love thematic oddities like this, it's always fun to bring attention to them. Great video overall! Glad Tim suggested ya'll! 🐺
Amy, Maggie, I love the combination of theme and mechanics in your videos. I’m a themer too. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you two! Although I normally side with Maggie, I’m so intrigued by the Marine version of Dominant Species. The DS looks a bit too difficult for boardgame beginners like us but the marine version makes it more digestible and more fun!🤩 thanks very much for the great video! 🐺
Tim sent me for this video, but hands down, but I knew you guys before and have always been impressed with both of you. I’ve followed you since your appearance with Rahdo, but just realized I wasn’t subbed. Hopefully this pushes you to 10k! 🐺
Love the theme of this, would love to give it a try, but don’t know if everyone in my group would like the crunchy-ness of it. Great video, looking forward to watching more of y’all’s videos. 🐺
It's obviously been too long since I played Dominant Species (orig)- but I really enjoyed your review of this. I went back and forth w Dominant Species Marine and ended up waiting on it, but your description of the gameplay makes me more interested again. And it gave me a chance to break in my new Thinker Themer mug while I watched- a win-win scenario, there! Good gaming!
Aw yay! Thanks so much for supporting the channel Edwin! 😀 glad you could have a cuppa with us... a tea with TT? 😁 Having not played the original I'm not sure if you would need to own both but the worker placement has changed and the game is a lot shorter I believe ... and really it is just such a wonderful game! Thanks for watching ☺
As a bioscience major, I love games with biology themes, just like this one. Especially ones that manage to simulate, with a very good fidelity, relations and phenomena that really exist. Loved the review. Cheers from Brazil! 🐺
This is a game that has been on my to-play list for a while now. Definitely gotta try it! Also, been loving your content. I feel like I'm a mix of both of your tastes. I love a crunchy puzzle, but I love it more when everything I'm doing makes sense with the theme and it's something I can get lost in. 🐺
It is so incredible that they finished off the publishing of it in his memory. His games will bring so many people (me included) years of joy... what a special legacy. Thanks for watching James as always 💖
Amy and Maggie, it's been awhile since I've commented on one of your videos. Love your content and your personalities. You two are perfect, this channel is amazing. I remember when you had about 1K subs and I watched a Dune video (I don't think you enjoyed that game) but nonetheless, I've been watching you two since. This game - Dominant Species: Marine is fun. I never played the first one, but this one is really good. Keep up the great work - 10K is right around the bend. Tim Chuon enjoys your content too. 🐺
I have meant to play this game by now, and it hasn't hit the table yet - really had fun hearing your enjoyment of the game.
Yay!!! It's so special when you discover a game that just works on every level for you right?? Sometimes it feels like that's the holy grail that keeps us buying and trying more and more and more games... I really hope you get a chance to try this one and look forward to hearing your thoughts! 💕
Congratulations on the engagement!!! I love the complexity of the food chain but has a balance to it!! 🐺
Loved your review of Dominant Species. This is now on the top of my hit list. Great production quality on your part as well. Thanks for the review.
🐺
I just picked this up last week. Super excited to play it now. Thanks for the review.
Yayayayay! Have you played it yet? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts...
Nice production! I love how u also show the game when u explain it! Also love the concept of your channel! 🐺
Wow! A beautiful game! Thanks for the high quality visuals and overview! 🐺
Love you both! You always make me feel good and I enjoy sitting with my Thinker Themer coffee cup and watching you both. Dominant Species Marine looks very good. 🐺
The crustacean god bit cracked me right up.

Love your design for you page! I enjoy the theme and think it is so cool! You both also made me want to get this game! Thanks!🐺
Thanks for putting this game in my radar. I'm always looking for a good worker placement game, so I look forward to picking this up in the near future! 🐺
Excellent review, very well rounded. You guys are amazing! 🐺
So good to see an Australian Boardgame review channel! keep it up guys🐺
Been following you guys for a while now. Thanks for the review. I'm just proud such good content is coming out of Melbourne. 🐺
I’ve been watching and subscribed to ThinkerThemer for a while now but have left very few comments. I love how you talk and share about board games🐺

Wow, came here through the giveaway and found a great video... thabk you! And I love your intro 🤩 🐺
Thanks for your videos; as a brand new board game fan, they are very helpful. So glad I found this channel through 🐺!
I really like how well you both detailed out the game! I also really like the effects that you used in your video! 🐺
I already followed you two before I started following Tim. Love how you board game channels are supporting one another! 🐺
Your channel is amazing! Thank you for making this video! 🐺
Never played Dominant Species, but this version sounds amazing!! Thanks for a great video (and thanks Tim for promoting this awesome channel!) 🐺

This game was sitting unplayed on my sell pile. Half way through your review I rescued it :D

Amazing overview of this great worker placement game! It is really cool that the natural selection theme is so DOMINANT! 🐺
So surprised by this pick! I remember a quick mention you had picked it up on a recommendation I believe. It had totally fallen off my radar! I have not played it or the original. Nice explanation from an AWESOME game!!! Congratulations from the channel. 🐺
I really want to play this one, but I’m afraid of the interaction 😂🥶
Glad you enjoyed it so much!
Keep being awesome 🤩
Haaaahahahaha we are not mean to play with we promise !!! Thanks for watching friends and talk very soon ❤
That is great. I love the excitement and explanation. I am definitely keeping an eye on it. Thanks! 🐺
I'm glad to say I was a subscriber of your channel from before Tim 🐺 sent me here because you are doing awesome work. I like the depth vs theme dichotomy you are always exploring because I'm a person to whom both matter a lot. Keep up the amazing work!
Nice review! I haven't played any version of Dominant Species, but this intrigued me👍
I hadn't either but definitely recommend this one!! 👌 thanks for watching as always Bill!
I absolutely love your review style! This is perfect for my wife and I. I also love the mechanics! Theme was not what pulled me towards this game, but you made i clear I need to check this game out! 🐺
Feel like I have barely heard about this on lists! Definitely curious about it! Great video!🐺

Again, great review, really excellent presentation that affirmed what my next pick will be with my crew when my turn comes up in the rotation again!
I enjoy the presentation. It felt like a conversation and less like I was being talked at. Great video 🙂🐺
Never heard of this game before! Glad to hear you loved it so much. Definitely got me interested🐺
This really looks cool and glad you enjoyed it. Now I want to play! 🐺
Always glad to find new board game channels 🐺
I love how succinctly you two describe the games and make the games seem so fun! 🐺
What an awesome channel! I always go for theme first and I love eco games so I'd love to play this one. Ancient marine megafauna are just bonkers
🐺 thank you for the review of this game.
I love this channel and the enthusiasm you ladies bring! Back chat has been my go to video to give me a sense of Kickstarters to back or not to back.
You guys do such a good job of explaining the game from your different perspectives. Wow!! 🐺
wow this game has always on my list, looking forward to add it to my shelf! btw I really like how you two talk about different aspects of the game! really good content!!🐺🐺🐺
Sent here from Tim’s channel! 🐺
Looking forward to the video.
Many thanks to Tim for introducing your channel to me 🐺🐺🐺. I'm loving your content, especially as you guys have similar perspectives as me and my wife. It's easy to find a game that I'd like, but seeing which ones would also be fun for her to play with me is so helpful!
just discovered your channel. Been awhile since I immersed myself in BG Hobby. Great vid. will look into more of your videos.
Looks awesome! Thanks for the great video 🐺
Hope to get this game to the table sometime soon. Always grateful for your unique takes. 🐺
I can't believe I'm not a sub yet! Great stuff and I've been hearing about you two everywhere. Happy to finally be a sub. 🐺
Love you guys! I just ordered this game and love this review
Hope to see you at GenCon '23
I think you guys are great and fresh better panniers for a while and a subscriber really keep up the good work! 🐺
"I'm like a crustacean god." - Maggie 😂
😂 I don't think she could stop trying to make sense of it even if she wanted to Mark
Looks fun! Can't wait to see Maggie's favorite of 2021!
The question is... have we already reviewed it?? 😅 am eagerly awaiting her final verdict too Jeffrey! Thanks for watching
I've been watching your videos for months but I hadn't subscribed until 🐺 sent me! Love your content, keep up the good work!
Here to bring some love 🐺 You really complete eachother wonderfully in your videos! ❤️
thanks for bringing Dominant Species: Marine to my attention. Tim Chuon brought me here! 🐺
Its amazing how in depth and intricate you go into the games theme and mechanics its so inspiring!!🐺🐺🐺
You guys are really great at explaining the game, definitely a fan now.
🐺 awesome content! I can’t wait to try this game! Keep up all the great work!🐺
Tim sent me for this video, but hands down, but I knew you guys before and have always been impressed with both of you. I’ve followed you since your appearance with Rahdo, but just realized I wasn’t subbed. Hopefully this pushes you to 10k!

Aaaaand thats the next game I will go shopping for. Thank you!
Whoohoo! I hope you can get it ... I hear you can preorder direct through GMT for their next reprint ...
RIP Chad, I am sure Kia (Chad's wife) who developed many of his games and gave final approval to GMT will be happy you love it.
It is so incredible that they finished off the publishing of it in his memory. His games will bring so many people (me included) years of joy... what a special legacy. Thanks for watching James as always 💖

I really enjoyed classic Dominant Species !!!!! Can't wait play MArine also!!!🐺
I'm all for the theme on this one, and it definitely looks better than its predecessor, cheers 🐺
Looking forward to discover your channel! 🐺🐺
I like the review of the game, a brief overview and a dive into a few of the mechanics of the game. 🐺
