I said this in the unboxing video, but I would love a Jurassic Park line like this. This figure is amazing, as while I don't own a croc (I own a caiman) the details are spot on realistic.
Good review. It is shame that the figure cannot support itself like a croc would when walking on land, but I guess I can stick a short, transparent stand underneath. I was not able to get it at the retail $175, despite seeing it around initial pre-order release, but I am glad to still have it and still find it worth it, as Crocodilians are some of my favorites. Hopefully, if they do more releases of animals with this much articulation, I will be able to get them at retail, now that I know of a few places where I can get exclusive releases not offered on Premium Bandai for the U.S. I did find info on the sea horses that you mentioned in the previous video. It was on the twitter of P-bandai, as you mentioned. I will be checking that out more, so I can keep up with any future animal figure releases.
update: the figure can absolutely support itself upright. I got mine July 14th, after ordering it from awesome collector over 6 months ago. I messed around with it, and my figure can support itself in a natural, upright, land pose. No stand is needed, unless you want a breaching out of water pose.
Another update: I still have not been able to find the leafy sea dragons on Zen Market, or other know, JP retailers. I have been checking since Bandai JP announced the leafy dragons. Buying the leafy sea dragons from BBTS cost about the same if you get imported, so Zen Market is not the most reliable or cheapest source to buy from, even if you check close to pre-order release. I guess, Steven had good timing with the croc on zen market, but that is not a guarantee for future Ikimono Encyclopedia releases. Hobby Genki had the croc for retail, but does not have the Leafy sea dragons listed. I do have have other Gashopons, including 4 tortoises and, an armadillo Lizard, and two pill bugs, but I got them from Ebay over a year and a half ago. Anyone interested in this type of line that is Japan should, realistically, expect to pay more than retail. Depending how much you spend, the figure are worth it. I am happy with my croc at $290, and the I paid around $15 for each tortoise, Armadillo lizard, and Pill Bug(Rolly Polly.)
The price is too high proportionate to the figure, but the size is pretty good. I could definitely see myself getting one for stop motion animation once I saved up enough. Beyond that, it's roughly the same scale as my Beasts of the Mesozoic 1/18th scale ceratopsians and incoming Tyrannosaurus action figures, so I could see this being an excellent stand-in for a large adult Borealosuchus from the Hell Creek Formation, or a young Deinosuchus from the Dinosaur Park Formation. Hell, it would look like an adult Deinosuchus if scaled with my 1/35th scale T. rex
I think it would need to warrant a new line because if we're talking about prehistoric park, the category is less 'monster' and more 'animal' if you know what i mean. Hell i'm pretty sure they could just collab with apple tv and just put them in this line.
Doesn’t look quite like a Nile crocodile, looks like it was referenced from multiple croc species, also quite inaccurate and the limb posture is very inaccurate, crocs can high walk like a dog or dinosaur, and gallop like a horse. Creative beast studios when the modern animal line is made will have accurate crocodilians with correct limb posture and articulation, will be cool when a Cuban crocodile figure is made which have horns and are the most terrestrial species, Also Cenozoic crocs for the Cenozoic line including terrestrial land crocodiles which are confirmed, and likely barinasuchus, Quinkana, boverisuchus will be made into figures at Some point in the Cenozoic line.
Good video Entertaining and informative I like the figure I probably won’t pick one up because of the price point. I hope you do another one if you happen to pick up a Croc and Fiona Two to see them sized up
Because it’s inaccurate, not correct crocodiles have there legs held up high when walking like dinosaurs and dogs, called a high walk, and can gallop like a horse. Ever seen an alligator walking?
never paid $500. I paid $290 after shipping; Even at retail, you are looking at spending $220 after shipping, but I never found it at retail, even though I discovered it close to the pre-order release date.
too bad you didnt have the bendable rebor titanoboa “monty” to go with this figure. btw are you gonna pick up the Hiya Toys GvK figures when they come out?
too small to be deinosuchus, unless the dinosaur figures are around 1/35th scale. It closer to a 1/12th scale for a realistic nile crocodile, and which fits well with true, 1/12 scale humans(6 inches or a little less) and 1/12 animal figures. If you have figures that are less than 1/18th, it could work as Deinosuchus, but as a Nile croc, closer to 1/12th.
Bro I swear these things ,your like oh yeah I would get this ,right as you get to the website this is ripoff for the price it looks cool and all but really bruh , if I had the money I would get like every thing but I don’t have the money, bro their trolling I can get a 3d printer for half the price and make that bruh
Shame looks great but too much. Rath and nargacouger or zinogre didn't cost that much to buy and they have this level of articulation plus size going for it. Oh well guess this is why animal figures are rare to get. Least you can get the Hasbro Joe's croc master and his pet croc for 40 dollars. Not as cool as this. And if I wasn't so broke and have bills I'd of got this in a heart beat. Maybe one day it'll be released again cause molds are expensive to just throw away.
Having both in my detolf right now, the quality of the two is night and day with the detail. It all depends on what you want. I'm pleased thoroughly with the quality.

i dont think they can create a jurassic world/park line but maybe just a dinosaur line
Who does not want a Jurassic park line
Screw that line you have a freaking caimen!?
Not quite as articulated but the Hammond collection seems like it might fill that gap.
Holy cow this crocodile is so detailed and I feel like you made a good perches.
This a very beautiful animal here, it does remind me of David Silva’s Beast of the Mesozoic figures because of super articulated prehistoric animals.

I wish they could do a great white shark figure!
Finally found a replacement for my old crocodile toy i had when i was 7
$400 is ridiculous, tbh I’d love to see Jurassic park or a v Rex figure
I’m hoping that Bandai will make sharks in the future for their diversity of life figures
Will you do a comparison with the corc master’s croc?
Bandai could've made this as a new line as a response to figma's art line. But no, they made it limited!
It literally is a line, tho.

God the paint on the scutes and upper body is so beautifully accurate with the lighter browns/yellows showing somewhat against that darker green
I've been waiting for this! Glad it turned out good. Would you say it'd worth the immense price?
Why are you sad about the legs splaying out? Thats how crocodilians are most of the time on land.
Because it’s inaccurate, not correct crocodiles have there legs held up high when walking like dinosaurs and dogs, called a high walk, and can gallop like a horse. Ever seen an alligator walking?
Crocodiles only have their legs splayed out when laying still or sleeping

To me I would compare this figure to my Revoltech Legacy Tyrannosaurus Rex, pretty much make the crocodile a Deinosuchus.
Would you call this a Deinosuchus?
I think Deinosuchus looked more Alligator like than a Crocodile like
