Yoo that's sick how you got some wrestlers to do your intro. I marked out for Kevin Nash lol. I've been binge watching late Attitude Era shows starting from the go home shows to SummerSlam 2000, and this show ruled. I just love the vibe of those late Attitude Era shows, WWE was pretty much peaking at this point and it especially shows when watching this show.
I was there too. I was ten years old at the time and I was the biggest Rock fan in NC. My seats weren’t that far from yours. I was on the floor about 7 rows back on JR’s left. I still have our folding chairs from SunmerSlam. Another close friend of mine was seated by the TitanTron and he got a great picture of Shane’s bump. I got a few pictures but I can only find one of Taker and Kane. I used to have an awesome picture of The Rock on the turnbuckle facing me. I was also at that same RAW in Raleigh. That was the RAW where Stephanie kicked the Rock in the nuts while he was setting up for the People’s Elbow. My seats for RAW were in the nosebleed section though.
@32:40 you raised an interesting point there about the bump from the set in that it was crazy that they were doing it only a year and a bit removed from Owen Hart’s death. I’m honestly surprised myself because you would think after Owen’s death they would cut down on those sort of stunts given the physical danger that existed if anything went wrong which could be catastrophic and open up more financial liability in the courts, given WWE at this point were still involved in the lawsuit and eventually had to pay $20m to Hart’s estate in November that year when they settled.
It's amazing that you got to experience the very first TLC match in the WWE live in person, one of Shane McMahon's bumps from the titantron set, Chyna's Intercontinental Championship victory, Kane getting his mask ripped off by The Undertaker and of course The Rock retaining the WWE Championship against Triple H and Kurt Angle. However at the same time, I feel bad that you had to sit through a few boring matches before you got to the good ones and of course you had to hear that GOD AWFUL Right To Censor music. I also attended a few WWE events myself in person in the past but THANK GOODNESS it was long after RTC broke up. The music at WWE live events is very loud from what I've experienced like you said but I can only imagine how annoying it was to hear RTC's shitty music ringing in your ears ugh !!
The reason Undertaker vs Kane was such a cluster was because it was a thrown together, last minute thing. It was supposed to be Taker vs the Big Show but Show got sent down to developmental.
This show was more disappointing to me only 3 matches I liked the ME TLC and Benoit/Jericho the rest of the show was meh even though the huge bump from Shane the match itself was alright I liked SS 01 better than this one but it was cool to here ur story Greg
I think the reason for Taker going for the mask was I think Kane got hurt for real and possibly broke some bones in his face. Taker unmasking Kane was his way of ending the match so Kane could get some help.
