Mayo native here. You'll often find feck all on the shore but mackerel, herring, rock salmon, small pollack and coalfish and wrasse. You can get 10lb bass on some of the strands though. Maybe a flounder or plaice too If you want a big fish though, just get on a boat (you can get a boat charter in Westport) and shoot out to the deeper water where there's 20kg coalfish, 40kg monkfish, 150+ lb halibut, tope, blue shark, and even bluefin Tuna. Giant skates are common enough In Clew Bay and big conger are everywhere. Just need to know where to find them

Billy loved video .can understand why u fished where u fished in mayo .I.m sure u noticed serious lack of mackeral .i live in N.ireland .the once prolific Mackeral .are gone from usual spots .talked to commercial fisherman few years ago .up Donegal .i was saying to him lack of mackeral .He told me of bumper catchs of Mackeral commercially of mayo coastline .Sorry sorry days for ireland when mackeral harder to catch .than many of the predators we use mackeral to catch .Hope u done well in kerry .some really good bass fishing still over rough ground rather than storm beachs .bendy rods billy

I tell you what Billy,You would miss those Doggies if they disappeared!.We now have them up in Yorkshire along with a lot of other species you just never saw in the past.We had masses of Spurdogs but they got completely wiped out by the long liners.The first time I caught a Doggie was on a charter boat out of Weymouth and I was absolutely thrilled..Much to the amusement of the crew.How many a blank, miserable session has been saved by the humble Doggie?.I love to eat them as I put all other rays and sharks back.Lets just hope the Chinese don't get a taste for them or they,Like all the other Rays and Sharks will decline just the same.Cod, Haddock etc lay Millions of eggs whereas sharks only lay a handful of purses or Pups.Great vid as always, sorry if I bummed anyone out!

If only there was a platform to fish over there and a way to get to it without needing a Chinook haha. Hundred feet of water within casting range. Not quite Norway by any means but still unusual to have such depth in a place so sheltered from the open ocean.

It's it's a part of Ireland in Mayo called Connemara. I travel a lot, and have seen a lot of beautiful places. But I think Connemara is still one of the most beautiful places on earth. If you ever make it over to to Ireland or Europe and you need some advice just ask, 👍
