When asked about her friendship with her former Disney Channel co-star, Ashley responds, 'I haven't seen her in a long time.' Fans have speculated about a rift between the 'High School Musical' actresses since Vanessa split from her ex-boyfriend, Austin Butler, in 2020. Ashely and Austin continue to be close friends, with Ashley posting a tribute on Instagram for Austin's 30th birthday last August.

I have a feeling it had to do with Austin Butler. Ashley has been best friends with both of them, and once they broke up they wither drifted apart it were forced to pick sides.

She wasn’t using her daughter as an excuse, having a kid is literally a full time job and not everyone can juggle work, kids & all your friends at the same time. When my older sister had kids she basically never hung out with any friend unless they were like 10 minutes away and even then it wasn’t for long. Taking care of a kid + your normal job to pay bills is a lot of work
People need to move on. They're not kids anymore everyone has their own life. They might not be BFF's but it doesn't seem like bad blood between them

If you want to comment at least educate yourself on the subject. Vanessa and Ashley have been best friends since they met on an audition for a commercial a year before HSM. They have been bffs through HSM and ever since, with regular friend-dates and posts honoring each other up until 2021. They sang covers together and filmed an MTV episode about best friends and how they keep their friendship going.
Ashley not being her maid of honour (and not being at the wedding AT ALL) is hella fishy and weird. After 16/17 years of a sister-like friendship, we are all right to be confused and concerned. That sh*t isn’t a co-worker relationship or us fans forcing on-screen relationships onto the off-screen world. So you need to get over believing you know what is being discussed here.
